Lovely environment to be in, with a happy atmosphere. The staff are always really helpful and genuinely friendly. I am always kept informed of any medical issues, concerns or needs regarding my mother, however small and know she is in a caring environment and well looked after. I couldn't ask for my mother to be in a better place.

My mother spent 5 weeks in Old Station House recuperating after a spell in hospital. She had a lovely spacious room with an en-suite bathroom and a kitchenette so she could make her own drinks, which gave her a degree of independence. Everyone who works there is happy and welcoming to residents and visitors alike. Although Mum didn't really join in with the daily activities, as she is a bit of a loner, there was always something interesting for the residents to join in with, together with the lovely garden and rooftop terrace, and organised trips out. It was always a joy to visit and I shall certainly miss everybody. The team must be very proud of the loving and caring environment that they have created for their residents and guests. Thank you again for being such special people.

My mother (102) has been in Old Station House for over a year with declining health. The care has matched her needs with medical attention being exceptional. The flat is large, well equipped and more than adequate. Food, drink and personal care standards are also well above what my friends have experienced for their relatives in other homes. Unfortunately, her poor mobility prevents her from benefiting from the social interaction and entertainment/outings provided. The staff are well organised and trained to deliver professional care. They try to attend to her individual requirements within their limited time available. I would recommend OSH (and Orders of St John) to anyone.

Station House had been recommended to my sister and me, and following a visit, we knew it was the right care home for Mum when the time came, and she could not manage on her own any longer. We don’t regret the decision for a moment. The atmosphere, from the outset, is warm, friendly and caring, which totally reflects the experience. Mum is extremely well looked after and content. We feel reassured that she is in very caring and capable hands. Communication from the home is excellent, and they have been extremely supportive both to Mum and us. There are daily activities and weekly outside trips for those who are able to participate, a lovely bright atrium to sit in and dining areas where residents can join each other for meals. The location is great with access to the park, riverside walks and town. We thank all the staff there for their constant care and dedication.

The staff at this care home have really taken the time to get to know Mum and have always provided comfort and reassurance when Mum has been anxious or distressed. My impression is one of a very caring environment. The residents are regularly treated to a variety of activities, and those less able to participate are always helped so that they don’t feel excluded. There are plenty of outings too.

I have no doubts at all that Mum is in a very caring and safe environment, and I thank everyone, including the carers, volunteers and management, for their constant kindness and concern.

Rather belated. My mother (age 92) moved into Old Station House mid September and I cannot rate this particular home enough. Having considered and waivered on moving her here for a few years whilst she became less and less independent, it has taken the weight off our shoulders and we have not looked back. It's home from home with en-suite kitchens! Seeing Mum so happy, always with new friends nattering, putting the world to rights or partaking in an activity each time we visit, we know she is in the best place possible. We even feel like we are interrupting some days! The staff are second to none dedicated, there, but in the background. Special thanks to the staff for being patient with us and for all the information, advice, support and care. Not to forget the staff member who works his socks off with trips and entertaining the residents on a daily basis (not a bad singer either!). It's wonderful to see mum like this, we don't have to worry about her anymore. Just build more memories! Thank you.

This was the first time we were able to visit Mum each day for a week as we live a distance away. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We joined in a couple of the activities and found them fun. We appreciate the hard work that goes into organising such things. We would like to thank all the staff for all they do for the residents.

It's lovely to see just how happy my mother is since she came to stay. She enjoys the company and seems to have made friends. The staff always make her welcome and she enjoys all her trips out. Infact when she comes out for coffee with me she seems keen to get back in case she has missed something.

The staff ensure the atmosphere in the house is welcoming and safe which has helped her settle quickly.

I have been visiting a resident here for some time and notice that on every occasion there is an overriding sense of cleanliness and the staff are friendly and helpful.
As in most homes of this nature, the staff are unable to answer every resident's call bell straight away - in fact sometimes there is a long wait.

I am not in s position to comment on the food, value for money/activities.

The care home continues to provide what it says on the packet. All the staff are very helpful and caring and when I visit I am treated in a very friendly matter.
The entertainment guy is always enthusiastic about what he is doing and nothing again is too much trouble (like the care staff).
Administration staff although having been away on secondment was always quick to respond to my queries by email even though working at another home. I am never hesitant in approaching her for clarification/help.

The home is doing well.

My mum is a resident and I would like to commend all involved with her care. Through a challenging time she has been looked after with dignity and care. She is delighted now activities are resuming and so happy to be taken out for walks. I am welcomed by all, and my needs to see Mum have always been accommodated. I would recommend anyone reaching out to a care home to visit Old Station House

This is an excellent care home. The management and staff are efficient and sympathetic to the needs of residents and their family and friends.
The front line carers are superb and nothing is too much trouble for them. These are people with difficult jobs but go about their work with smiles and laughter.
There are activities almost every day carried out with enthusiasm and a sense of fun. Sometimes the coordinator organises trips outside of the home which is really appreciated by the residents, particularly those confined to wheelchairs.
The location is superb, right in the middle of Abingdon with the town, river and parks close by.
The rooms are spacious and airy and there is an en-suite toilet and shower and a kitchen with a fridge and ample space and facilities to prepare meals when corvid allows.
My wife has been a resident for 6 months and received really good care and I couldn't ask for more.

Old Station House is a care home that cares.

My Mum moved into Old Station House in September 2020 during the pandemic, which has shaped her experience there. Of course, staff are friendly in the main, though staff levels have dipped. Food is okay, has taken a while for carers and cooks to understand what she can and cannot eat (or chew!). Activities are good and activities coordinator is enthusiastic. Overall okay. Good sized rooms, bigger than a nearby care home which is otherwise better. We shall stick with Old Station House due to bigger rooms!

Just a quick update review about the care my mother in law receives from the amazing, dedicated team at Old Station House. She has advanced dementia but is always settled and calm when we visit to take her out or sit in the special, comfy covid room with her. As her dedicated carer I am also allowed to visit her in her bedroom, which is reassuring for me and relaxing for her.

The home is scrupulously clean and feels very safe but the main heart of the community is the staff. They genuinely care for the residents and can always tell me how Mum is when I ring, as if she were the only one of their patients - not one of the many they so carefully care for. The ethos of the place is one of humour and love, led by the brilliant management team. Thank you so much for taking the worry and strain from my husband and I over the last four and a half years.
