My father came to The Ridings for 1 week respite, during the New year period. My father was very reluctant to stay at a residential care home, due to stigma.
My father found his stay enlightening and has stated that he would go back to The Ridings, as all the staff were caring, polite and respected his dignity. This also enabled my mum to have a well-deserved rest, knowing Dad was in as safe place and being looked after.

My family and myself can't thank The Ridings enough for their assistance with the transition from home to The Ridings. Always found staff happy, caring, polite, helpful and going that extra mile to ensure Dad was happy and involved with his care needs. Even though Dad was only with The Ridings for a week we all felt welcomed and never a bother.

I have been at The Ridings for a year now and this review covers that period. I cannot speak too highly of The Ridings. It is a particularly pleasant environment. I would have rated everything excellent, except that I wanted to point out the really outstanding things which concern the staff who are first rate, competent, caring, efficient, with a good sense of humour and a good team spirit. Their interaction with all residents is first class. I am aware that this must come from the management, and it is impressive how quickly new staff pick up the ethos. Activities are good and varied too - the time here passes very quickly.

Since my mother-in-law moved into The Ridings, we have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff are really caring and will do things for the residents above and beyond their duties. The Ridings is always warm and welcoming to all visitors. This has made my mother-in-law feel very comfortable and at ease. I would highly recommend The Ridings to anyone in this area looking for a residential home for their parents or family member.

My mother moved into The Ridings in August 2017 after a short stay in another care home. The care and support she has received has been fantastic, all of the staff have been supportive to both my mother and myself in what has been an emotional journey. I can only express my gratitude to all the staff there and I would recommend them for their high level of care and support.

My mother was a resident for 5 years until she died. The care home was always clean and well run. The staff gave my mother a good standard of care throughout her stay. They were sympathetic and gave a high standard of support to her and me when it was necessary. Their treatment of my mother in her final months was particularly caring, which I found very reassuring.

My mother has settled into The Ridings well after having to leave her own home. The care staff are so kind and helpful. The activities at The Ridings are on every day and very from knitting, pom pom making, baking, arts and crafts, reminiscence sessions, hairdressing and so much more. All the residents are well and happy - it really is like a big extended happy family. Meal times are an event with amazing food from the chef. We are so grateful to have found such a wonderful place.

Overall Experience

My mother, who had dementia, was a resident in the home from March 2011 until she died in July 2016. The care Mum had during this time was outstanding. We found the staff very caring, conscientious and helpful and the regular review between myself and the staff ensured that we had an opportunity to share in decisions about her care. In her early time in the home she led a very full and active life, enjoying days out and activities. As she deteriorated, she was still encouraged to take part in the activities she was able to. As she deteriorated, the staff put in place adaptations she needed to keep her safe and well looked after. Palliative care at the end was excellent.

My husband died on the 13th of August 2016 at the hospital after 8 years at The Ridings. He was looked after extremely well and enjoyed some of the activities there and outings. The staff at The Ridings were excellent and I always felt supported when I went to query anything to do with his care. He and I were disappointed when he wasn't able to return to The Ridings where he regarded as home.

I have been working in older peoples' care for nearly 15 years.

I started at Godiva Lodge care home in Coventry as a care assistant and then became a team leader after 2 years. I then transferred over to an Extra Care location as a team leader. In 2017 I became a Deputy Manager and worked across three of Anchor’s locations. I returned to Godiva Lodge as the Home Manager in May 2023 to cover a period of absence.

I really enjoyed my time as a Home Manager and feel that I made an impact on the team at Godiva Lodge. I am looking forward to getting to know residents, staff and relatives at The Ridings.
