Overall Experience

Being an adult under 50, and having a complex medical history for both physical and mental health, it is extremely difficult to find a care home that will even consider taking me. I needed emergency respite back in June 2022 and that lead me to realize that the care I was receiving in my own home was totally inadequate. I felt safe in a caring environment for the first time in years. Every aspect of my care needs are being met with respect and dignity. I had a huge input in my care plan and worked closely with the manager here to achieve a care plan that is totally tailored to my individual needs with both my physical health and my mental health requirements. I have become far more independent here, I have gained confidence, and found my own voice and strength. This has been achieved through the careful management of a team that works well together.

My Dad has been at Dungate Manor for a few months now and the staff have welcomed him brilliantly, he looks so much happier and healthier since being there! From my first interaction with the staff at the home to my last, I have seen nothing but kindness and great care shown to both my aunt and our family. I cannot thank the manager and his staff enough for being there when we needed them.

Dungate Manor is an amazing care home. My grandmother has been there for a few years and always has the top level of care even when she was ill and had to stay in hospital for a while, the hospital was very impressed with the care she receives. The staff have worked hard through the pandemic and did everything they could to keep residents safe. The fact every time I see my grandmother she is happy speaks volumes.

Dungate Manor is a five-star care home. The whole team from management, care team, kitchen team, entertainment team, etc. all work together tirelessly to make each resident feel safe, secure, cared for to the highest standard. They take the time to fully understand each residents personal needs, they focus on maintaining dignity, supporting everyone’s physical and mental health and always with compassion and a smile on their faces. Alongside this they continue to improve the Manor House keeping it to a high standard. During the two and a half years my father-in-law has resided there he has benefited from lovely new carpet, new comfortable armchairs, interactive wall decorations and time in the lovely garden too. Could not be happier with Dungate. Especially how they have managed during such a challenging time through Covid.

My mum has been a resident at Dungate Manor for several years and I have always been happy with the consistently good standard of care given by everybody. These last fifteen months have been very challenging indeed and has tested the dedication of staff throughout the care sector - the management and quality of care at Dungate has been outstanding and I have nothing but praise for the excellent job done.

I cam to Dungate Manor om the 3rd February 2020, for a period of respite having spent 8 days in hospital following repeated falls at home. My first impressions were very good, both the decor and the welcome from staff was excellent. I have received support and encouragement to get me back to my best self. This is due exclusively to the staff from every department.

Our relative has been in Dungate Manor since August 2018 and despite her worsening Alzheimers, she has settled as well as possible. The staff are very keen for our relative to retain her dignity and independence for as long as possible. All staff exhibit caring attitudes with patience and in a friendly manner. Our relative is encouraged to socialise but never forced.

Daisy Job Title:Through the eyes of a child Programme Leader

Daisy is an 11-year-old community champion who has been visiting The Anchorage care home since she was a toddler. A few years ago, she created Through the Eyes of a Child, a heartfelt initiative designed to capture children’s honest reflections on their experiences of visiting the care home, helping staff and residents see the environment through a child’s perspective.

What began as a simple idea has grown into a meaningful programme that fosters intergenerational connections. Daisy encourages children from local schools to visit the home, building friendships with residents and taking part in activities, events, and outings. She has also developed feedback forms to ensure children’s voices are heard and valued.

Over the past year, Daisy’s compassion and dedication have been widely recognised. She has received a Champions of Care Special Recognition Award from Person Centred Software, the Community Cup from her school for her empathy and service, and the Saxon Weald Local Community Youth Winner Award for her outstanding contribution to the care home and wider community. She is also due to join the PDCCA Volunteer Friends Scheme in the New Year.

Now beginning to share Through the Eyes of a Child with other care homes across the group, Daisy continues to lead with kindness, empathy, and maturity beyond her years, proving that age is no barrier to making a meaningful difference.
