Greys Residential Home is a converted rectory and has been run as a care home by the Kennedy family since 1984. Over the years, the house has had extensive investments to provide the modern facilities available today. The latest investment in 2024 is a renovation of the East wing, which provides 4 large rooms with en-suite facilities and private doors onto the secure gardens.

Greys is registered for 24 older people age 65+. Offering care for people with mobility and memory issues and those who just don't want to be alone anymore. Approximately 50% of Residents have a diagnosis of dementia, however clients are only accepted in the early stages of dementia.

Resident accommodation is over two floors and there is a lift to the first floor. Staff reside on the second floor.

The Residents all have their own en-suite bathroom. All rooms have a TV and telephone point and a carer call system. Rooms are furnished to suit the Resident and personal items are encouraged to make the room homely and familiar.

Residents can enjoy several gardens and outside seating and patio areas. The main garden and rear garden is decked flat and accessible from downstairs bedrooms.

There are two spacious lounges with televisions and tea and coffee making facilities. There is also a dining room and library books available for Residents to use. All communal areas have just completed a full refurbishment programme.

A hairdresser visits weekly and the chiropodist monthly, whilst doctor and dentist visits can be arranged any time.

Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the home and there are video-conferencing facilities such as Zoom & Skype.

The home offers a full and varied range of activities including trips out. Recent visits include boat trips down the River Wey, Guildford Cathedral flower festival, exotic butterflies at RHS Wisley, The Ritz, The Ivy & Buckingham Palace (these trips are accessible to all Residents).

My mum has been at Greys now for six months. She has settled well and is enjoying her time at Greys. She's learnt new skills by joining in with the art classes! I can't speak more kindly of Greys and their excellent staff.

When first arriving at the care home I found a welcome from every management. Every carer I met seemed to understand my needs. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Within a day pretty well one of the staff would make a point of calling in to make sure all was well. I wish I had made the move
ages ago. It was really the best thing that I have done. They all knew my name. I dont regret this move. I think it springs from a excellent manager who is the right one for a not easy job.

Wonderful home for the elderly to spend their last years, with lovely people that care for them. Mum could not ask for anywhere better that care for people like her, in the last years of their lifes. I'm so happy she is happy living there.

My mum was very happy here and I was happy with her care ,the staff felt like family and I felt I knew them and that they all cared about me and my mum.Mum died suddenly in February and I was devastated, unfortunately this is where things went wrong .Staff need more training how to treat the bereaved
,even little things like the state of mum's room after her death were ignored.No help was offered when we tearfully emptied her room.No representative came to her funeral.As if my mother's death was difficult enough to deal with to be treated so coldly was a real slap in the face.

Dear ClarissaThank you for your review. Unfortunately due to the unexpected nature of your mum's passing, the police were called and we were prevented from preparing the room for your arrival. We are also not allowed to be involved in the clearing of her private possessions but I understand that teas were offered. I do accept that during our investigation we found confidence gaps in our staff offering emotional intelligence, empathy and compassion and these specific staff have now been trained further in these areas. We always attend our Resident's funerals but on this occasion we were not invited. I am sorry that you feel our services were not at their usual high standard and hope these explanations assist you in your grief processing. Your mum was a pivotal member of our Greys family and was loved by all and is missed by all.

Greys Residential Home is a lovely building in a beautiful, quiet road just outside Woking town centre. My mother-in-law's room has a lovely outlook and is spotlessly clean and bright. Everyone of the staff are kind, caring and professional. I cannot recommend the home enough.

The most professional, comfort, caring experience I have ever had. We have had a tough experience with my mum being diagnosed with dementia and not knowing what to do and how to go about things. They guided us out of the dark into the light and Mum is now settling in nicely with lots to do and such

My father made Greys his home in August 2023 and he lived there for thirteen months before he passed away suddenly earlier this month.
He was a quiet, private and fiercely independent man who always knew he would find being in a care home difficult. That said he settled into Greys almost immediately
and would go to the dining room twice a day for meals and some company. He enjoyed being cooked for and he went on a few of the arranged outings on offer; these involved trips to local pubs, a garden centre and a ride along the canal on a boat.
Greys always felt homely and the staff were excellent. I never felt there were too few staff or that they seemed overstretched with their duties. I liked the fact that Greys was privately owned and not part of a large organisation.
I would definitely recommend Greys to anyone looking for a good caring home for their elderly loved one.

Throughout my mother's long stay at Greys, I always found that the care and attention that she received was first class. The staff were very kind and professional and were always friendly and willing to help Mum be as comfortable as possible.
Mum always enjoyed the high standard of freshly prepared
meals.
Social activities organised by Greys made Mum very happy.

Friendly atmosphere.
The building was a family home and although it has been extended, it still has a homely feel.
My friend was encouraged to have lunch downstairs in the dining room but the rest of the time she was allowed to rest in her room, which she liked to do.
Greys is not in a care or nursing
home category nevertheless they did a good job in keeping residents safe during the pandemic.
My friend had a pretty good 4 and a half years there and only had to move because her dementia sadly became more marked, and she now needs nursing home care.

My sister and I knew as soon as we walked through the door of Greys that this would be an excellent choice for my mother who has mixed dementia and associated behaviours. The staff are kind and have done their utmost to settle her in, accommodating many requests. The manager and staff treat everyone
as individuals with compassion and understanding. There is an activity most days and the home is open to suggestions for different outings from residents and their families. My mother has said the food is nice and appreciates a glass of wine with her meals. The building is well maintained and there is a helpful handyman to keep on top of any issues. It is reassuring to know that my mother is in a safe and caring environment.

My mother-in-law stayed at Greys whilst her broken arm healed and she was incredibly well looked after, she absolutely loved her stay there. Mum loved the home and called it her 'home' in her last days. The staff were all wonderful and so kind to her. She loved the food, especially the homemade soups and made some new good friends. It was just a shame she never got to spend longer here.

Greys provided excellent care and support for my mum in a very small and safe environment with a good staff-to-residents ratio. Mum was very well looked after with a kind and respectful approach maintaining her dignity. The friendly staff had time for nice chats (and some humour) which my mum liked.

Greys has a wonderful garden with decking and gazebo. Mum had a lovely view of the garden from her armchair and easy access through her French doors. Mum liked the Arts and Crafts class and good, home-cooked food. She also enjoyed the lively birthday parties with cake, Bucks Fizz, and live entertainment. She appreciated all the support at Greys and was content there for just over 4 years.

Our mum was a resident at the home for several years. We consider it very lucky that there was a place at the home for her to be able to move in. Her care was excellent throughout her time at the home. The staff were excellent and the food was good, with our mum having a very specific dietary requirement.

I would recommend Greys Residential Home very highly.
