Greys Residential Home is a converted rectory and has been run as a care home by the Kennedy family since 1984. Over the years, the house has had extensive investments to provide the modern facilities available today. The latest investment in 2024 is a renovation of the East wing, which provides 4 large rooms with en-suite facilities and private doors onto the secure gardens.

Greys is registered for 24 older people age 65+. Offering care for people with mobility and memory issues and those who just don't want to be alone anymore. Approximately 50% of Residents have a diagnosis of dementia, however clients are only accepted in the early stages of dementia.

Resident accommodation is over two floors and there is a lift to the first floor. Staff reside on the second floor.

The Residents all have their own en-suite bathroom. All rooms have a TV and telephone point and a carer call system. Rooms are furnished to suit the Resident and personal items are encouraged to make the room homely and familiar.

Residents can enjoy several gardens and outside seating and patio areas. The main garden and rear garden is decked flat and accessible from downstairs bedrooms.

There are two spacious lounges with televisions and tea and coffee making facilities. There is also a dining room and library books available for Residents to use. All communal areas have just completed a full refurbishment programme.

A hairdresser visits weekly and the chiropodist monthly, whilst doctor and dentist visits can be arranged any time.

Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the home and there are video-conferencing facilities such as Zoom & Skype.

The home offers a full and varied range of activities including trips out. Recent visits include boat trips down the River Wey, Guildford Cathedral flower festival, exotic butterflies at RHS Wisley, The Ritz, The Ivy & Buckingham Palace (these trips are accessible to all Residents).

What made me choose Grey's initially was the lovely home from home feeling. A beautiful house with the open fire and lovely gardens. My mother has been a resident for 3 years now and is happy, safe and very well-fed! There is always something going on to get involved in if she wanted to and the staff
are friendly and caring. I couldn't really ask anymore for her.

I had previously searched the Internet and telephoned with various homes. Greys Residential left the best impression. Three and a half years ago my mother, unfortunately, had to go into a care home very suddenly and we were lucky that a room had just become vacant. I recently read my mother's entry
in the new resident's book where she wrote how glad she is that her daughter found Greys for her. As I don't live in England and cannot visit very often, it is reassuring for me to know that Mum is well-cared for and that I can contact the staff at any time for their help and advice.

Greys Residential Home in Hook Heath, Woking is like a home away from home for my mum. She could no longer look after herself after my dad died, and I wanted to bring her down closer to where my family live. We looked at numerous homes when making our choice. It is very good value (you can pay 50%
more for some places, but I would not want to live there!), whereas Greys felt very homely. The staff are so caring and friendly. The food is of a very good standard, and mum's room is lovely. Always activities to get involved in, outings, food tastings etc. Highly recommend Greys to anyone looking for a small residential home, where all the staff know all the residents and look after them very well.

The care home is very clean, warm and extremely well decorated. It is a very welcoming care home and the staff are very approachable, warm and friendly who can't do enough for the residents. The food they provide is of a very high standard and they have quite a variety to choose from. As a family, we
really can't fault it and the manager is very professional and always keeps us informed of Mother's welfare. They provide a range of activities for those that want to join in.

This is such a lovely home. We recently attended the Christmas party where almost all the residents and their families were present enjoying the food, entertainment. The staff all go the extra mile to look after the residents and they are all treated as individuals with respect and kindness. Residents
can stay in their rooms or join in the activities or trips provided and all choices are respected. We are very happy to travel abroad knowing that dad is well looked after and in the best possible hands.

This may come as a surprise but knowing the resident my whole life, I think the time she had at Grey’s were some of the happiest she ever had.

After my Father died, both when she was in her cottage and at the apartment in Cranleigh, she always said she wanted someone to look after her more, and

I think this is exactly what Grey’s did for her.

She was clearly comfortable in the surroundings and I believe this brought out the best in her. It’s a shame she suffered from deteriorating eyesight and ongoing dementia and, towards the end, it was pretty obvious she didn’t really know who I was but through it all she never lost her liking for the home and the attention she received.

I can only thank you once again for looking after her so well and making her so comfortable in her final few days.

Every time I visited my Mother at Grey's over the past 10 years or so, I was always reminded of the meanings of care and compassion.
I cannot think that she could have been better looked after anywhere else and the number of times that she told me how happy she was at Grey's is testimony to that.
The
love and care as well as your staff's efforts to retain her dignity have been simply fantastic and the worry of living so far away never existed knowing what good hands my Mother was in.
I cannot thank you and your wonderful staff enough for allowing her to be part of your family and for loving and caring for her to the highest standards possible.

A lovely atmosphere as soon as you walk into Greys.
Everyone is so friendly and kind and Mum is treated with respect. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending Greys to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one. Since Mum has lived here I have
peace of mind knowing that she is being well cared for.

Fantastic care and attention to mum's every need at all times (and she can be quite demanding) I would recommend this home to everyone. I have met with several of the staff including the manager, the owners and many of the staff - all seem to have mums best interests at heart. Well done and THANK
YOU!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.796)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.796) out of 10 for Greys Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.821 for Greys Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (199 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 235 Ratings = 4.821
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Greys Residential Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
