Our mum was a resident at Greys for several years, until she died peacefully a few days ago in her own bed at Greys at the age of 101.
During all that time she was looked after very well in a caring, loving, personal but professional way by the excellent day and night staff.

On several occasions, she needed hospital admission, but the manager and staff at Greys ensured Mum could come 'home' as soon as possible, even though it meant extra work for them. Once home she was managed very well with sensible encouragement and mobilisation.

After her final illness in hospital, the manager made all arrangements quickly and efficiently to allow Mum to come home, with a special bed delivered and full medical back-up from the excellent GP and district nurses. All the day and night staff looked after her (and us the family) with excellent care, dignity and compassion and she gradually faded away and died in her sleep - a perfect departing. Thank you. The family could not have asked for more.

Reply from Jo Kennedy, owner at Greys Residential Home

John, your mother was a wonderful lady and for many years was a pivotal member of our extended family home. She was an absolute joy to care for and we will miss her dearly. Thank you for your kind words, our thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family. Kindest regards, Jo Kennedy

My cousin moved into Greys in April 2016. I have been delighted with the homely experience of the home. The food is excellent. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
Each room is fully equipped as to the resident's needs plus their own belongings are encouraged.

One of the main aspects is that the residents are encouraged to take part in activities and in the day to day running of the home.

What made me choose Grey's initially was the lovely home from home feeling. A beautiful house with the open fire and lovely gardens. My mother has been a resident for 3 years now and is happy, safe and very well-fed! There is always something going on to get involved in if she wanted to and the staff are friendly and caring. I couldn't really ask anymore for her.

I had previously searched the Internet and telephoned with various homes. Greys Residential left the best impression. Three and a half years ago my mother, unfortunately, had to go into a care home very suddenly and we were lucky that a room had just become vacant. I recently read my mother's entry in the new resident's book where she wrote how glad she is that her daughter found Greys for her. As I don't live in England and cannot visit very often, it is reassuring for me to know that Mum is well-cared for and that I can contact the staff at any time for their help and advice.

Greys Residential Home in Hook Heath, Woking is like a home away from home for my mum. She could no longer look after herself after my dad died, and I wanted to bring her down closer to where my family live. We looked at numerous homes when making our choice. It is very good value (you can pay 50% more for some places, but I would not want to live there!), whereas Greys felt very homely. The staff are so caring and friendly. The food is of a very good standard, and mum's room is lovely. Always activities to get involved in, outings, food tastings etc. Highly recommend Greys to anyone looking for a small residential home, where all the staff know all the residents and look after them very well.

The care home is very clean, warm and extremely well decorated. It is a very welcoming care home and the staff are very approachable, warm and friendly who can't do enough for the residents. The food they provide is of a very high standard and they have quite a variety to choose from. As a family, we really can't fault it and the manager is very professional and always keeps us informed of Mother's welfare. They provide a range of activities for those that want to join in.

This is such a lovely home. We recently attended the Christmas party where almost all the residents and their families were present enjoying the food, entertainment. The staff all go the extra mile to look after the residents and they are all treated as individuals with respect and kindness. Residents can stay in their rooms or join in the activities or trips provided and all choices are respected. We are very happy to travel abroad knowing that dad is well looked after and in the best possible hands.

Every time I visited my Mother at Grey's over the past 10 years or so, I was always reminded of the meanings of care and compassion.
I cannot think that she could have been better looked after anywhere else and the number of times that she told me how happy she was at Grey's is testimony to that.
The love and care as well as your staff's efforts to retain her dignity have been simply fantastic and the worry of living so far away never existed knowing what good hands my Mother was in.

I cannot thank you and your wonderful staff enough for allowing her to be part of your family and for loving and caring for her to the highest standards possible.

This may come as a surprise but knowing the resident my whole life, I think the time she had at Grey’s were some of the happiest she ever had.

After my Father died, both when she was in her cottage and at the apartment in Cranleigh, she always said she wanted someone to look after her more, and I think this is exactly what Grey’s did for her.

She was clearly comfortable in the surroundings and I believe this brought out the best in her. It’s a shame she suffered from deteriorating eyesight and ongoing dementia and, towards the end, it was pretty obvious she didn’t really know who I was but through it all she never lost her liking for the home and the attention she received.

I can only thank you once again for looking after her so well and making her so comfortable in her final few days.

A lovely atmosphere as soon as you walk into Greys.

Everyone is so friendly and kind and Mum is treated with respect. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending Greys to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one. Since Mum has lived here I have peace of mind knowing that she is being well cared for.

Fantastic care and attention to mum's every need at all times (and she can be quite demanding) I would recommend this home to everyone. I have met with several of the staff including the manager, the owners and many of the staff - all seem to have mums best interests at heart. Well done and THANK YOU!
