Hill Brow is a purpose-designed 30-bed family owned and run care home, which is rated outstanding by CQC (April 2022). Friendly trained carers contribute towards a homely and happy atmosphere in which residents are supported in their choices and lifestyles. All of the team are permanent, agency staff are never used allowing strong relationships to form between residents and team.

The resident’s independence, dignity and care is at the centre of everything the staff of Hill Brow do. The home also works closely with other health care professionals in providing 24-hour care, which helps to reduce the need for hospital admissions.

There is a full and diverse activities programme, providing many opportunities to socialise. Outside there are beautiful landscaped gardens with flat paths and a large fish pond for residents to enjoy. The residents take an active role in running the home, helping to create the menu's, activities and social programme. Hill Brow is a happy home, where the resident's happiness and welfare comes first.

Very happy with this place. The staff are all very friendly and professional. Dad is always very happy, upbeat and relaxed whenever we visit or speak to him on the phone. He enjoys the activities he chooses to participate in and has made some good friends, both other residents and staff. Highly recommended!

I have been really happy with the outstanding care that has been given to my husband, particularly through the difficult time of Covid. Although he has not been there long, the staff have all taken the time to get to know the whole family and we can feel part of the splendid activities provided through

Every week when I see Dad or hear from Hill Brow, it makes me smile knowing how happy and well cared for he is. He is healthy, relaxed and loved and the staff’s care during Covid has been exemplary! Moving Dad from his home was a necessary but difficult decision. I couldn’t be happier with that decision
now though. A real home from home.

Mum has been a resident at Hillbrow for nearly 3 years and we are extremely happy with her well being and she feels very happy and safe and that is so important to us. Hillbrow is a very welcoming and friendly home and the management and staff have always done an amazing job caring for her and all the
residents always polite and friendly and always willing to help. During the COVID pandemic, they have done an outstanding job of keeping all the residents safe going above and beyond and we are so grateful for all their hard work at this difficult time and so pleased Mum is in such safe hands. We have been kept informed every step of the way with regular updates of changing government guidelines and the owners have done an exceptional job in being ahead of the game at the start and making the situation more bearable for residents and for relatives and knowing that their loved ones are safe. Hill Brow has been a complete life changer not only for my mother but also for us as a family. Mum was showing signs of dementia and was living at home but when the family was unable to care for her due to ill health, we had to go down the route of a care home. Hill Brow has exceeded all our expectations
not only for good food, cleanliness, and a host of other reasons but mostly for the care and love from all the staff from management down to cleaners and given my mum a loving, caring environment. Since being at Hill Brow her dementia has deteriorated and as she was so independent previously personal hygiene was being forgotten by Mum. The staff used all their skills to overcome Mum's inability to accept help but at the same time treating her with the utmost dignity. We have been informed of all progress and the management's dealing of Covid 19 has been exemplary again keeping us fully informed by weekly updates. Thank you to everyone at Hill Brow for making Mum's remaining years so happy.

My Stepfather's parents were residents at Hill Brow and both unfortunately passed away within a month of each other. Before their health naturally declined, both of them had remarked how happy they were at Hill Brow and how they had no worries about anything. The care they received was person-centred,
and the staff were amazing. They really knew all there was to know about their interests, which meant a lot. Having worked in care homes myself over four years, I find it easier to look beyond a beautiful setting, to see the reality underneath. Hill Brow is the best care home I have ever had the pleasure of visiting and I must thank them for treating my step-grandparents with such dignity and care and for making their last moments comfortable, for them as well as our family.

My mother has been in the care home for 3 years and during that time has improved significantly due to the care and attention of the staff who are excellent. She is comfortable, well fed and stimulated by numerous weekly activities. I cannot speak highly enough of Hill Brow and all its staff. The owners
are hands-on and the staff are dedicated and caring towards residents. I feel my mother is very fortunate to be there.

My grandmother felt very "at home" and well cared for here. She loved the social aspects and the warm friendly environment. I was always impressed with the lovely staff who are clearly very dedicated. The home was always super clean. I would definitely recommend this home and plan to send my father
there one day. (He has already said he would like to end up there!)

My grandmother was in Hill Brow. She had moved from her home unable to walk very well, very lonely and generally, I thought she was going to die so needed to find a home for her. Hill Brow was recommended to me and she moved in. I thought she would only be there weeks, years later she was still there.
They were amazing, they assessed her and gave care totally in tune with her history and made a shadow of her old self back to the social lady she previously was. They found out what she liked and built a plan on it. She is a changed lady. Thank you.

It was an extremely difficult decision to have to put my mother into a care home but since coming to Hill Brow, the improvement in her has been so noticeable and I now look forward to visiting her. My mother is now so content in her environment that the deterioration in her memory has slowed down and

We are very happy with the facilities, staff and standard of care at Hill Brow. The staff are always cheerful, polite, friendly and happy to help. The management is exceptional and I am impressed with how they keep me informed of how mum is doing, and notify me immediately if there are any concerns.
We have noticed an improvement in Mum's mood; she is cheerful and smiling when we visit, and enjoys all the activities on offer every day. Hill Brow is warm and welcoming and it feels more like a family home than a residential home.

I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at The Royal Free Hospital, to assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow following my mother's retirement in 1998. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved in our homes, providing the highest standards of care which are built on an ethos of family-centred care. I am also a teacher and assessor ensuring I can support our staff through their development and training.

I make sure to have individual conversations with each resident to learn about their favourite foods and preferred drinks. It's important to me that they are happy, so I strive to provide them with wholesome, delicious, and nutritious meals that they truly enjoy.

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2012

I love my job as an activities coordinator. The most important part of my day to me is spending quality time with the residents whether in a group activity or chatting on a one to one basis. I particularly enjoy the art and craft activities. When I first started the Wednesday afternoon Art Club I could only persuade a few of the residents to join in, now I have residents and their family join in!


A regular Friday afternoon activity which I introduced soon after I started in this role is Word Association. I always get full attendance for this as the associations can be very unpredictable and humorous.


Story writing is another popular activity. I usually try to tie the theme into a current event or choose a popular childhood memory to develop into a story, however by far the most popular theme is a murder mystery. All of the residents have an opportunity to add a suggestion which is included in the story. The stories are a great way to bring out their sense of humour and it never fails to surprise me how inventive they can be.


I have also introduced food and cooking activities where I have helped the residents pipe onto cakes and biscuits with chocolate or icing and they get to eat their own creations! I use my love of art, cake decorating and watercolour painting to develop new projects and my latest creation is a giant bingo game which can also be used for quiz questions. We always look forward to our weekly outings and also the musicians that come to perform.


It’s a real privilege to be able to spend so much time with our residents. I feel very much appreciated by our residents and enjoy being part of the team at Hill Brow.

My name is Doug, I am the facilities manager for the Woodlands and Hill Brow Group. I am a qualified electrician and have been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.
