Hill Brow is a purpose-designed 30-bed family owned and run care home, which is rated outstanding by CQC (April 2022). Friendly trained carers contribute towards a homely and happy atmosphere in which residents are supported in their choices and lifestyles. All of the team are permanent, agency staff are never used allowing strong relationships to form between residents and team.

The resident’s independence, dignity and care is at the centre of everything the staff of Hill Brow do. The home also works closely with other health care professionals in providing 24-hour care, which helps to reduce the need for hospital admissions.

There is a full and diverse activities programme, providing many opportunities to socialise. Outside there are beautiful landscaped gardens with flat paths and a large fish pond for residents to enjoy. The residents take an active role in running the home, helping to create the menu's, activities and social programme. Hill Brow is a happy home, where the resident's happiness and welfare comes first.

The care staff at Hill Brow are absolutely fantastic and take excellent care of the residents. They are wonderful caring people who take a genuine interest in the residents' well-being. They have a really good schedule of activities to keep everyone active and entertained. However, despite continual
feedback, the food continues to be below par. This is unfortunate as I would give them 5 stars if the food could be improved.

Thank you for your comments about the care staff and how caring they are. We take on board your comments about the food. It is very subjective and everyone's tastes do vary. With Hill Brow being a small home we can always do variations and alternatives. I have been personally so pleased and relieved that mum has been lucky enough to find a place at Hillbrow. Refusing help in the home but wandering and causing chaos in the local community, led to an urgent need for mum to be cared for, Hillbrow were immediately understanding and she was offered various
choices and came very quickly and supportively to our rescue. The staff are always caring, kind, welcoming and very professional in their approach and make the environment home from home with excellent food and personal care.


Mum was offered lots of choices and now mum has been there since April and I have no qualms about her comfort or the activities they provide including trips out and a well-maintained home area, bedrooms, showering and bathroom facilities and regular staff including a small safe garden.
I would recommend Hillbrow to anyone looking for care.

Friendly welcoming staff who did everything to help my mum settle in and cater to her dietary needs. They always made the time to stop and chat with us when we visited. Thanks to their care, my mum is now back to living independently. We are so grateful for everything they did.

Our dad has been at Hill Brow just over 2 months now and we are amazed at how well he has settled in there. The Hill Brow team are fantastic, looking after his every need. They are so friendly and caring and there is obviously great team spirit amongst the team - it's like one big happy family. He has
a lovely room, the gardens are beautifully maintained and the food is freshly prepared every day. Dad loves it there and it gives us great peace of mind knowing he is so well looked after.

My mother-in-law became a resident in October after having a fall at home, after leaving hospital she went to stay in Hill Brow for respite care but after a few weeks we could see it was the right place for her to be full time and now call home. All the staff are truly amazing and caring, in a short
space of time we have seen such a difference in Mother-in-law she has settled so well in this supportive and caring environment.
There's always plenty of activities for the residents to get involved in if they so wish, various outings and visits from entertainers. from my point of view I can not thank the whole team enough for all they do from her medication needs to painting her nails you are all superstars!

Hill Brow Residential Care Home is like home from home for our mum. The staff are very friendly, always making family members welcome whenever we visit. It's very reassuring to know that our mum is being cared for by a consistent team of staff, that know her well. I also love the fact that a whole range
of activities are planned each week, to help keep her both physically and mentally active. She has been really happy and settled, and very appreciative of the care that is taken of her.

My mother was a resident at Hillbrow for ten years, from 2012 to her death in October 2022. During this time she sadly became bedridden but was allowed to stay in the loving and caring environment where she felt very safe and secure.
Hillbrow is a wonderful home with a team of absolutely fabulous staff,
very professional, and they always treated mum with dignity, respect and compassion as well as love and laughter. I cannot thank them enough for looking after mum in such a caring environment.

Dad has been with you at Hill Brow Residential Care Home now for over a year, and we couldn't be happier. He is so settled, and loves all the attention he gets. It truly feels like home to him. His room is really comfy, but it's the care that individuals receive that is a blessing to us. Dad loves the

My mother has recently passed away at Hill Brow having been a resident since March of this year. I cannot speak highly enough of the compassion and care that she received from the whole staff team. The atmosphere is always so positive and in the range of activities on offer there is surely something
for everyone who wishes to partake. Mum particularly appreciated the garden area, which is kept immaculate and she enjoyed a stroll around it and sitting out in the sun during the summer.
All staff treated her with dignity and respect throughout her stay but we are particularly grateful for their care during the last few weeks of her life when she needed nursing care. Their ability and willingness to provide this meant that she was able to remain in a familiar environment to the end. Their communication with me was excellent throughout her stay - I really felt that we were partners in her care. I would highly recommend Hill Brow and think they deserve their Outstanding CQC rating.

My mother has been a resident at Hill Brow since February 2022. From my very first visit to the home I have found all of the staff very friendly, approachable, helpful, welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble. My mother has settled in very well and has made new friends. Every week there is a
range of themed activities which the residents can participate in if they so wish. Mum has especially enjoyed the fortnightly entertainers that have been invited into the home to sing and has also been on a number of outings which have included visit to garden centre, local pub, canal boat trip, seaside and more recently Windsor.
Hill Brow has a very well tended garden which my mother enjoys a regular walk around. During the summer we enjoyed tea and biscuits served to us there by the staff, which was lovely. There was also a summer barbecue held for residents and their families.
Hill Brow is spotless and well managed and it has given me peace of mind that Mum is in the best hands.

My grandma came to live at Hillbrow nearly a year ago having lost my grandpa after 60 years of marriage. It has been perfect for her as she is an incredibly kind and loving lady herself and is cared for by all of the staff (including the senior team, all the carers, housekeeping and catering staff)
with the same level of kindness, love, respect and empathy that she has always shown other people. She has a beautiful, comfortable room which is just the right size for her to feel cosy but big enough for her to fit in all her photos, precious things and items that bring back memories from a happy past. She has been able to bring lots of her own furniture and that has made a real difference to her feeling at home. She has made some close relationships with many of the staff and residents and has been able to enjoy a mix of privacy and sociability that really suits her. The staff are all full of humour, fun, respect and kindness and nothing is ever too much trouble. I'm so grateful.

My Mother in Law has been living at Hill Brow for just over a year and I and all our family are thrilled with the care, love and attention she receives. All of the staff are wonderful and the standards of care are extremely high, led by the management team. There is a perfect mix of professionalism
and humour which makes 'the house', as my Mother in Law calls it, just like living in a large family. We couldn't be happier.

My Auntie moved to Hill Brow at the age of 91 years. Until this time she had lived in her own home but she recognised the time had come to move to a place where she would have company and be looked after. She was very nervous. On the day of the move into the home the staff at Hill Brow welcomed her
and made her very comfortable and cared for. She quickly felt at home at Hill Brow and that was thanks to the kindness and care shown to her by all the people there looking after her. My Auntie went out on outings, did activities such as flower arranging, took part in the Sing Song and generally has been having a fantastic time. So much so she told me after only a few weeks at Hill Brow she didn't want to go back to her home. This was such a comforting comment for me to hear her say. She was happy and getting involved in all things going on at the Home. If it's care and kindness your loved one needs I would highly recommend Hill Brow.

I noticed my father's plastic water jug and 2 plastic glasses in his room had not been refreshed over two days. I reported to management. The rooms would benefit from blackout blinds, far too light. One evening I was present, I noticed his bed hadn't been made, but the two girls, who were finishing
their shift, did notice also; and changed and made his bed as I was there. They should also pay attention to applying the name pins onto residents' clothes, particularly on thin items like socks. The pins are sharp and can sit slightly proud.
When I took my father to the hospital for tests, they said care homes should be particularly vigilant in monitoring residents' hydration in a heatwave. I was recommended to another care home. My father is now happily settled, hydrated, and being looked after in his new care home.

With regard to resident water jugs, these are changed as a minimum twice a day in addition to our residents being offered refreshments every two hours outside of meal times. It is regrettable that you were unable to raise your concerns with the home when your loved one was staying with us, so we could have discussed and addressed appropriately. We know that you were disappointed that your loved one was unable to stay in the home beyond the respite period you had pre-arranged. However, we are so pleased to hear that your father is happy and settled.

The staff at Hill Brow Residential Care Home look after my Grandma wonderfully. She has a beautiful room with an en-suite which she has been able to enjoy making her own. The activities available to the residents are fantastic and the food they are served is of a high standard. Thank you

Alison Lee

I am Alison and the proud Proprietor of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd. I am a nurse holding a Degree in Nursing with a Diploma in Elderly Care. I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at The Royal Free Hospital, to assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow following my mother's retirement in 1998. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved in our homes, providing the highest standards of care which are built on an ethos of family-centred care. I am also a teacher and assessor ensuring I can support our staff through their development and training.

Hello, my name is Laura Cooper, I have worked for the Lee family for over 8 years and I am extremely proud to be the General Manager for Woodlands and Hill Brow’s four homes. With over 20 years of previous Leadership and HR experience behind me, I work with the homes daily to promote and ensure that the happiness of our residents and all our permanent staff members remains at the heart of all we do.

I joined the company in 2014 with a level 5 Qualification in Health and Social Care. I am proud to work in a really special place with such lovely people - residents and staff and I are especially proud we achieved a rating of Outstanding by CQC in 2018.


My passion is caring for the elderly. I believe everyone should receive compassion and outstanding care in their later years and that this can be achieved with well-trained and good staff working in partnership with our residents and their families and other Health Care Specialists and Professionals.

My name is Rejoice, I have worked at Hill Brow for over 10 years. I started as a carer, then became a senior carer and now deputy manager working alongside our lovely manager Bev. I really enjoy my role and working with our outstanding team at Hill Brow and my passion is caring for our lovely residents. I love getting to know their likes and what makes them truly happy, so we can do all we can to offer them the best care possible.

My role is incredibly rewarding. I am part of a massive life-changing decision that is incredibly personal and needs to be made with confidence. I think of myself as a guide for families and individuals during this new chapter of their life.


I help support them with any questions and concerns but what I love most is every day I get to meet new people, hear their life stories and build great relationships with them and their families. Once they have moved in it is a joy to watch our residents thrive and enjoy life, and loved ones too.

I really enjoy caring for all our residents and their different needs and having the time to get to know them. Job Title: Chef

I'm Lynn, and I work as a Chef at Hill Brow. I absolutely love being part of such a caring company that values and supports its employees. The management team is incredibly supportive and always prioritizes the well-being of the residents and staff.


One of the best parts of my job is preparing meals for the residents at Hill Brow. I make sure to have individual conversations with each resident to learn about their favourite foods and preferred drinks. It's important to me that they are happy, so I strive to provide them with wholesome, delicious, and nutritious meals that they truly enjoy.

Job Title: Activities Coordinator

Joined: 2012

I love my job as an activities coordinator. The most important part of my day to me is spending quality time with the residents whether in a group activity or chatting on a one to one basis. I particularly enjoy the art and craft activities. When I first started the Wednesday afternoon Art Club I could only persuade a few of the residents to join in, now I have residents and their family join in!


A regular Friday afternoon activity which I introduced soon after I started in this role is Word Association. I always get full attendance for this as the associations can be very unpredictable and humorous.


Story writing is another popular activity. I usually try to tie the theme into a current event or choose a popular childhood memory to develop into a story, however by far the most popular theme is a murder mystery. All of the residents have an opportunity to add a suggestion which is included in the story. The stories are a great way to bring out their sense of humour and it never fails to surprise me how inventive they can be.


I have also introduced food and cooking activities where I have helped the residents pipe onto cakes and biscuits with chocolate or icing and they get to eat their own creations! I use my love of art, cake decorating and watercolour painting to develop new projects and my latest creation is a giant bingo game which can also be used for quiz questions. We always look forward to our weekly outings and also the musicians that come to perform.


It’s a real privilege to be able to spend so much time with our residents. I feel very much appreciated by our residents and enjoy being part of the team at Hill Brow.

Job Title: Facilities Manager

My name is Doug, I am the facilities manager for the Woodlands and Hill Brow Group. I am a qualified electrician and have been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.
