My mum has been a resident for nearly 4 years. I have always been very happy with her care and when any small issues arise they are dealt with promptly and professionally. Mum has had some serious health issues and the staff have looked after her diligently and with compassion. We feel reassured she
is in good hands. There has been a lot of refurbishing and upgrading recently. The home is bright clean and welcoming. There are more permanent staff and less reliance on agency staff, giving continuity of care and happier staff. I am now retired but worked in this sector for many years and feel I have an extra insight.

Mum was there for about 18 months in all. At first, it was strange for Mum but she soon settled in and made friends. The staff were so welcoming and made Mum feel at home from the start. Mum had a good laugh and was a real character. The home is always spotless, lovely, great food, caring staff and
welcoming. The refurb looks great, residents say it looks lovely, nice and bright, that's important. I visited Mum 2-3 times a week. Mum was always clean, well dressed, happy and well fed. We always had a laugh with the staff and I always felt part of their family. Friends and family visited Mum and had great things to say about the place, we all knew Mum was in great hands. Peace of mind meant the world to us all. Towards the end, the staff were just amazing, so loving, caring and supportive, just going the extra mile for us all. I cried and they cried (my Mum was their Mum) that's how I felt. Staff came to Mum's send off. That says so much. A genuine, caring, wonderful, dedicated team. You don't often find that in a home. 10/10

My mother has been resident for 3 and a half years and in that time, has been very well cared for and seems happy with life here. Originally, we looked around many residential care homes and chose Linden House for its all-around friendliness, clean appearance and value for money. Since then, we have
not been disappointed. Despite the frequent staff changes, the level of care has been consistently high.

Since my father died, the home helped mum come to terms with his loss. They have spent time talking to her about dad and keeping her busy so she does not get upset.

My mother entered full time care four years ago. She has been a resident in two care homes, the second of which was Linden House in Epsom. In my opinion, the level of respect, care and attention given to my mother at Linden House was equal to the far more expensive first care home. This is an important
point to remember as aged care may be needed over a long period and therefore; can become very expensive.
To a younger person living independently, a care home is a daunting environment but to the residents who need the care, it is a lifestyle that they come to accept and probably enjoy. I offer my highest praise for the professionalism of the management and staff at Linden House and my thanks for the excellent care they provided for my mother.

This was the first occasion that my wife had entered respite care and she was very apprehensive about what it would be like.
She stayed at Linden House for two weeks and (in her own words) was looked after superbly.
Evidently, the food is also better than my own home cooking and she is already looking
forward to her next stay!
I think that we were incredibly lucky to find this lovely home with such kind and caring staff.
We have no connection whatsoever with Linden House and the opinions shown are genuinely felt.
My wife did not wish to take part in any of the activities hence the 'don't know' opinion to that question.

After visiting early one morning we found our relative in a worrying predicament, she was laying in a pool of urine. This was left by the night staff. The day staff and deputy manager quickly cleaned her and dealt with the issue concerningly and professionally and dealing with the staff concerned. We
were quite happy with this.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.179)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.179) out of 10 for Linden House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.898 for Linden House is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.898
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.281 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Linden House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.781
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
