The kindness and support we have had from the staff at Shannon Court has been outstanding over the past five months since my parents have become residents.

The week before Christmas this was highlighted when the management and staff organised for my mother to be transported in their own vehicle to my home on Christmas Day and Boxing Day to celebrate with the family. We have had a tough year losing my father three months ago but their kindness and support has been so overwhelming.

On our visit, we were welcomed warmly by staff - reception staff and carers. We were included with a charity coffee morning, the residents were relaxed and clearly enjoying the atmosphere. Everyone was encouraged to join in and the individual needs and requests of the residents and us as visitors were accommodated willingly and with care.

My mother has been in this home since February 2015. During this time the staff have been very attentive, giving her a good quality of life. The home is very clean and well run.

I would not hesitate to recommend the home to anyone.

Firstly the way the home is laid out is very good and practical.
My father is on Davis Ward.
During my father's time here the staff have been exemplary.
All residents are clean and tidy.
The attention to each patient is excellent.
I have been so impressed by the staff's patience and kindness.
Also their innate common sense.
I was extremely anxious at first but cannot praise the staff enough.

Thank you.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

It was a pleasure to care for such a lovely man at the end of his life's journey. He was a gentleman throughout his stay here, and I know there are one or two carers who will miss him.

We are lucky to experience and witness the wonderful care provided by all staff members at Shannon Court. As our loved one is cared for so well and with such thoughtfulness, we are supported and sparred a degree of our anxiety. Thank you Shannon Court for the care, empathy, fun you have brought back into my family's life.

Overall, the care for my Mother in law is EXCELLENT!

Sometimes communication between care staff is not so good, especially trying to resolve hearing aid matters.

The home and the grounds and opportunities for residents are very good.

Excellent care home with first-rate staff - from the Home Manager, to the care, activities, kitchen, laundry and admin staff who treat the residents with respect and as individuals. Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff make time to talk to the residents. I feel very confident that my father is being well looked after, and I couldn't hope to find a better care home.

My Mother moved into Shannon Court 6 months ago and has settled well, she is happy and appreciative that she is being well looked after. Staff have got to know my Mother well and understand her particular needs and ways. I have always observed kindness and understanding from those staff having direct dealings with my Mother and this is a comfort to me and my siblings. I would not hesitate to recommend Shannon Court as a safe and caring environment.

Excellent, well run home with friendly caring staff. At the time of my visit, the fire alarm sounded and all was dealt with in an efficient manner, which did not evoke any concern to residents.

I am 94. My wife is 86 and has suffered for some years with muscular deterioration. I was her carer. The almoner of my lodge found that I was doing a good job of looking after her but getting my own affairs into a mess. He recommended us both to come here. We have been here nine months. I am ageing faster than ever and I realise that I could not now do the work I was doing a year ago. So our move was fully justified, other circumstances being equal. I would not choose to live here, but as it is I owe the almoner a large vote of thanks.

Came here about 1 year and 3 months ago, with my wife. My wife has dementia and passed away just before Xmas. Through diabetes both my feet are dead (like walking on a water-bed). It was quite hard to adjust from a 4 bedroom house and garden to a room not as big as my smallest bedroom. However, I have adjusted to my new life and am quite content. I am nearly 90 years of age. I have got my wits about me and can have an intelligent conversation. I am mobile with a walker. Many people are worse than I am, so I must be grateful and continue to drawn my old age pension.

Matthew Bryans
Matthew BryansJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

My name is Matthew Bryans, and I am proud to introduce myself as the Home Manager. I began this role in November 2025, having previously worked as Deputy Manager at Shannon Court.

I have been working in the care sector for the past eight years, during which time I have developed a strong commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care. My experience has allowed me to build meaningful relationships with residents, families, and staff, and to understand the importance of creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for everyone.

Before moving into social care, I worked as a qualified ILS paramedic in South Africa. This background has given me valuable clinical knowledge, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a deep understanding of the importance of dignity, compassion, and quick decision-making in care settings.

I am passionate about what I do and believe I bring a wide range of skills to my role as Home Manager. I am committed to leading a dedicated team, continuously improving standards, and ensuring that every resident receives the respect, care, and quality of life they deserve.

I look forward to being part of this community and making a positive difference every day.
