My father has been living in Reminiscence having transferred from Assisted living. The staff are caring and kind and will attend to any issues that occur as soon as they are able. I was concerned about the transition but my father seems fairly contented and he always looks smart and well cared for.

My mother has been a resident for almost a month. She arrived at a very difficult time with Covid and had to isolate completely for a week in her room. Despite this, she was made to feel welcome and settled in within a week.
While the excellent facilities play an important role, the most important
thing is the quality and kindness of staff and teamwork. There appears to be such a happy atmosphere both between staff members and in their interactions with their residents.
To know your mother is being looked after with perfect kindness and professionalism in excellent surroundings is all one is after and Sunrise Banstead provides just that.
On some of the ratings (including care/support, treated with dignity, staff, management) the 'Excellent' score should be read as 'Absolutely outstanding'.
Reply from Suzanne Garston, General Manager at Signature at BansteadThank you for leaving us such a wonderful review, our team members will be thrilled to hear your positive feedback. Here at Sunrise of Banstead we pride ourselves on understanding our residents needs to respect their independence and give a real sense of being at home.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Sunrise of Banstead. All the staff from management to cleaners are friendly, professional and caring. All residents are treated with dignity and love. I had huge reservations about Mum going into assisted living, becoming an object in a chair staring at the
TV. This couldn’t be further from reality. Their activities schedule is better than mine! So much care and thought is put into their daily lives, with external entertainers and an internal activities team who work tirelessly (like all staff) to keep all the residents entertained and engaged. The home is more like a hotel, with a bright and uplifting atmosphere with decor that I’d happily have in my own home! The gardens are beautiful and well looked after for residents to enjoy safely. From an admin point of view, communication is excellent and any concerns instantly addressed. It’s expensive but my mind is at rest knowing that Mum’s happy and being well looked after.
Reply from Suzanne Garston, General Manager at Signature at BansteadOur team here at Sunrise of Banstead are so grateful for your comments. Our activities co-ordinator and the team work hard to provide engaging and stimulating activities for all of our residents, we are so glad to hear the activities provided are one of your favourite elements of our home.

The care and kindness shown to my Mum throughout her time at Sunrise has been fantastic. Like many people of her age, she can be difficult, but the Sunrise staff are fantastically patient and positive. The food is good and the entertainment programme is varied and fun as could possibly be hoped for.
We (the family) are so happy to know that Mum is safe and well cared for. Living all over the world it is a reassurance that is very important to us. Overall we consider ourselves very lucky to have found Sunrise Banstead.

I would like to say that Sunrise has a very dedicated team of carers and support staff that do their utmost to help the residents. I realise that the last year has been an extremely testing time for all. However, the extra effort made by all has been superb and may it continue.

Mum joined the community in December 2019. We moved mum away from her home in Devon to Surrey to be closer to family in London. Mum was anxious and lonely, but the whole team made mum very welcome. There isn't 1 particular member of staff that has gone above and beyond, all the staff are fantastic,
warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. 5star ***** service!

Booking a respite stay in the Sunrise Banstead was relatively easy, but the occupation dates and related fees could be clearer to allow for inexperienced clients' comprehension.
The building and rooms were excellent, with a good calm atmosphere. All the staff were attentive and well-identified as a
caring team.
My wife being a respite resident over the Christmas time, was able to enjoy festive food and a variety of activities and entertainment.

My mother requested to go into a care home at the beginning of December 2019. Fortunately, there was a suite available and she moved in just before Christmas. Her medication had just been changed prior to admission and there were complications with her health and medication subsequently. Subsequent
care problems were largely due to changing NHS doctors and delays over the Christmas period in getting a prescription.

My aunt spent a lovely two-week respite break at Sunrise in Banstead. The welcome was lovely with home-baked scones, and the room ready on arrival.
My aunt was confused as she has Alzheimer’s but everyone made her stay easy and she was very happy the whole time. She was able to join in many activities.
The food was great and memorable for my aunt.
Thanks to all the staff for their care.
When my aunt is ready for full-time care I wouldn’t hesitate to come to Sunrise Banstead.

Mum stayed here for a few weeks this autumn. Staff were friendly and warm and there were lots going on for mum to do. A good care setting. We only had to move mum on as her nursing needs became more challenging and made complex by her dementia. Thanks for looking after mum.

My mother is very happy and well cared for. All the staff are extremely loving and caring and it's a pleasure to visit her there because of the welcoming community atmosphere. There is a very full activity programme and my mum particularly enjoys minibus trips into the surrounding countryside. The care
home is well managed and although the decor is already of a high standard, the residents' rooms are currently being refurbished to provide improved bathroom facilities.

I am 90 years of age, my husband of nearly 50 years, died last March and I have no relatives. I arrived here on 12th December 2018 to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers to welcome me in my room. Various members of staff came to ensure I was ok - to be certain that I knew when and where I should go
for lunch. I was really made to believe that I was in my home without all the chores and worries!!
After 6 weeks I feel as though I am part of a big family! I can join in so many activities or go to my room - I please myself but without intrusion. Staff make sure I am alright.

I needed sudden urgent care for both my parents aged 87 and 85. One with severe dementia. Sunrise of Banstead were able to take them both together straight away.
This was a very traumatic time for myself and my parents and the staff at Sunrise were amazing. They were very welcoming not only to my parents,
but they supported me at this very difficult time.

The staff are excellent. The food is excellent. The entertainment and activities are great. And the care is second to none.

My parents are very happy there and I can now sleep at night knowing that they are receiving the best care possible in a safe environment in a beautiful care home.

Thank you Sunrise for taking all the worry away.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.821)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.821) out of 10 for Signature at Banstead is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.821 for Signature at Banstead is calculated as follows: ( (325 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 380 Ratings = 4.821
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Signature at Banstead is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 96 registered maximum number of service users is 19.2, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My goal is to provide dignified care to elderly residents, ensuring loved ones’ peace of mind. Progressing into management, I now mentor and empower large teams. I feel privileged to work for Signature, where the values of the organisation align with my own.

Job Title: Residential Care Manager Joined: 2023

I started my journey in Health and Social Care in 2012 and I have never looked back. I joined the Signature at Banstead family in February 2023 as an Assisted Living Coordinator. I was fascinated to work for Signature at Banstead because of their commitment to delivering excellent care to the elderly, guaranteeing the home is safe, exciting, committed and active. Prior to this, I worked as a Supported Living Manager and a Residential Care Manager in London and Kent. My experience over the years can allow me to help our Assisted Living community manage and care for a wide variety of individuals. I am passionate about delivering a service that is safe, effective and person-centred, driven by the needs and aspirations of the people we serve at Signature at Banstead. I’m dedicated to providing our residents with the best care and support that they need to recover and maintain their health and independence. My primary aim within my role is to create a people-centred team that delivers a positive colleague output to ensure that the people we support are receiving the best possible experience, ensuring they continue to lead happy and purposeful lives. I maintain a keen interest in supporting my team to deliver high-quality care holistically, with our residents at the centre of all we do.

Job Title: Dementia Care Manager Joined: 2015

I began my career with Signature as a Care Assistant in 2015, which was also my first experience of supporting people living with dementia. From the very beginning, I discovered a real passion for dementia care and have progressed through a number of roles, including Senior Carer and Care Supervisor, before becoming a Dementia Care Manager.

After gaining valuable experience within another home in the group, I transferred to Signature at Banstead in May 2024 as Dementia Care Manager, where I now oversee both of our dementia communities, Lavender Lane and Bluebells. I manage the operational, people and clinical aspects of the communities, working alongside an exceptional team to deliver compassionate, person-centred care. Supporting residents with meaningful and purposeful activities is at the heart of what we do, helping them to live well and enjoy the very best quality of life.
