My mother has been in Whitebourne for a few years now and we have seen changes in staff and management. The current manager and staff are simply brilliant and I am very happy with the care my mother is getting.

The care and staff were very good and listened but my mother who is 101 years old was unnerved by dementia patients coming in her room.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at WhitebourneThank you very much for taking the time to write a review for Whitebourne Care Home and for your lovely comments and scores. Whitebourne is home to many older people living with dementia and we always do our best to explain to new residents and families of residents coming to live with us that this occasionally may happen. The home manager would be more than happy to discuss how your mother can best be supported with this should she wish to stay at Whitebourne again in the future.

My husband stayed here for respite. Very well looked after and he enjoyed his stay in the home, even arranged for his covid booster. Manager is very nice and polite. The place is very well managed, clean and tidy and offered a variety of activities. Will definitely choose for future respite stay. Thank
you to one staff member in particular and the team.

One of the best care homes Whitebourne, Frimley.
The staff and in particular the care home manager are real gems. They were really helpful and gave the best services to my dad. I wish I could use names to highlight the individuals who were always the best, smiley and down-to-earth. Please pay my special
gratitude to the care home manager - he was amazing.

Since my father was placed in the Frimely Care Home, his health has been slowly declining. However, the good care and attention given by staff, has enabled him to regain some of his previous functions. There is always a very good update from all the staff on his day and nobody seems to be short of time
to explain.
Their presence is constant and it always appears they have everyone's best interest at heart. My initial opinion is that I'm really comfortable Dad will be looked after extremely well. His recent pneumonia case in point.

My husband has been at the care home for a few weeks and in that time has been treated incredibly well! A manager who is available at any time and an incredible team of carers, team leaders, office staff and housekeeping - all lovely caring people, also the local doctor, who comes in on a weekly basis
and is superb. They are also there for our whole family.

My husband has dementia and I need him to go into respite. He has been to three other care homes and has never really settled but Whitebourne was entirely different and I felt relaxed about leaving him as the staff are lovely. He came home happy and relaxed.

I was invited to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. It was my first time trying food that the care home had prepared and I must say that it was delicious. The care staff were also very friendly, kind, and really cared for the elderly from the bottom of their heart. I do not usually write reviews, but I
was really touched by the care that my mother has been receiving. This is a care home I can confidently allow my mother to stay in. 10/10. Well done Whitebourne!

My husband has only been with you since the end of July 2021 but has received wonderful care and support. It can be very upsetting for him as he would rather be at our home, so we do get a few tears. Whitebourne is looking after him very well, he has a lovely room downstairs overlooking shrubs and the
road. He is in very capable hands - thank you.

I was initially reluctant for mum to go into a care home but am a complete convert. The care, love and family feel at Whitebourne has been second to none. She left yesterday as her needs are now so complex, she needs a more nursing-led approach but the send off brought tears to my eyes. Every single
carer, helper and manager came out to hug her and wish her well. Whitebourne may look very ordinary on the outside but it is extraordinary within. Thank you for everything.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.576)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.576) out of 10 for Whitebourne is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.701 for Whitebourne is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 177 Ratings = 4.701
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitebourne is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I began working for Care UK in 2021, but I felt I knew the provider well – five other family members of mine work for Care UK care homes and have done for many years.

All Care UK homes have the same goal: to provide the best possible care for older people.

Before joining Whitebourne, I worked for another large care provider for almost 14 years. I worked my way up from Care Assistant to Head Housekeeper to Receptionist to Team Leader, Deputy Manager and finally Home Manager. I was always encouraged to apply for new roles, and the progress I’ve made is my proudest achievement.

I am always thinking about what is best for the residents we care for at Whitebourne, and it’s important as a Home Manager to be open-minded, honest and approachable. For me, the best part of the day is the end of the shift when I get to check that the residents are all safe and well, the home is cosy and warm, and the staff are all thanked for their work. I look forward to continuing to progress at Whitebourne and to leading our amazing team in providing excellent care.

When I’m not at work, I love spending quality time making memories with my family.
