My mother has been at Whitebourne for the past 9 months. I am so happy with my choice. The staff are amazing and I feel a real bond has formed, with several people. The effort and care, I have to say, are outstanding. Communication over the past 6 months has been great, telephone calls and social media
coverage, which is just fantastic - to see your loved ones. Visits have been mixed, as at the beginning, it was difficult for both my mother and myself, as obviously no contact, hard for all. She did need support and encouragement at this difficult time. The pandemic really did not help as it was such a change for her from living with my father. The love and encouragement I see, is fantastic and I feel my mother has settled in well, due to this.

Overall, the staff are friendly and caring. If anything to be recommended, more staff are needed. It is difficult to comment as we have not been in the home for a year. It seems they have had Covid under control as best they can with no major outbreaks. The manager has been outstanding, always keeping
us informed and is proactive.

My father has been a resident for the last couple of years. In general, the staff have always been very helpful and friendly and take pride in doing what can be a very challenging job, particularly in the recent pandemic. The home is always clean and various events are organised for those who want to
participate. Following management changes, the service seems to have improved during the time my father has been a resident. Particularly during COVID, there has been an increase in communication from the management, which has been good. Issues have only generally arisen through the overall process and procedures. When issues have been raised, these have been dealt with, when followed up. It would be good if more things could be done electronically so that records could be accessed by relatives, appointments booked etc. We are very grateful to all the staff for the amazing work they have done during the pandemic.

I was very apprehensive about my mum moving into a care home, however, I could not have been more wrong. The staff at Whitebourne are excellent, going out of their way to support my mum every day (she has dementia) and making her feel at home. The activities coordinators (you know who you are!) are
amazing and keep my mum busy and entertained, thank you so much for looking after her.

Mum is very happy here. The premises are clean. The staff are always friendly and helpful both to the residents and visitors. She is well looked after. The only downside is that because her legs are too weak for walking she needs a wheelchair to move around ahs has not been out of the care home in a

My husband has been attending the day centre at Whitbourne for some years. Since new management, the centre has improved greatly. Every person I have come into contact with has been so kind and friendly and I do not know what I would do without this two day a week break. I cannot comment on the rooms

Great impressions are given from the care home, with friendly staff and lots going on throughout our visit. Also, we noted that the signs were very clear with my grandad also mentioning this point. Easy to move around even if the building is a bit of a maze. Easy to also walk around and his room was

A pleasant, caring home for Mum and being improved still further. Convenient to get to and open all hours is reassuring. The staff and management have been helpful from the start. My mother-in-law is still settling in with staff help. The regular check-up has proved its worth when Mother was taken to hospital with a chest infection shortly after moving into Whitebourne. We visit very regularly and staff remain friendly
and helpful still eg guiding residents who are confused, checking up on the wellbeing of residents, administering medication etc. My wife and I are relieved the home is very good and are impressed.

My mother moved into Whitebourne on the death of my father who was her primary carer. The arrangements and care on that first day was brilliant I can not praise the staff highly enough for their care and handling of the situation.
Since then my mother has been settling in. She has good and bad days.
Dealing with the loss of her husband and her home. The staff are caring and understanding. Her general health has improved and she is making friends and coping. Well done, very very happy with the service.

Whitebourne has certainly improved over recent months since the last CQC visit. More activities, more permanent staff, more visible staff 'on the floor', provision of drinks, snacks in lounges.
Residents always look clean and well cared for and seem happy generally. The new management team have certainly
upgraded the home to include 'homely' lounge and improved decor.

Job Title: Home Manager

I began working for Care UK in 2021, but I felt I knew the provider well – five other family members of mine work for Care UK care homes and have done for many years.


All Care UK homes have the same goal: to provide the best possible care for older people.


Before joining Whitebourne, I worked for another large care provider for almost 14 years. I worked my way up from Care Assistant to Head Housekeeper to Receptionist to Team Leader, Deputy Manager and finally Home Manager. I was always encouraged to apply for new roles, and the progress I’ve made is my proudest achievement.


I am always thinking about what is best for the residents we care for at Whitebourne, and it’s important as a Home Manager to be open-minded, honest and approachable. For me, the best part of the day is the end of the shift when I get to check that the residents are all safe and well, the home is cosy and warm, and the staff are all thanked for their work. I look forward to continuing to progress at Whitebourne and to leading our amazing team in providing excellent care.


When I’m not at work, I love spending quality time making memories with my family.
