Whitebourne

My husband had two weeks respite at Whitebourne. I thought it was very lovely and welcoming. The manager and his staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. My husband enjoyed staying there and wants to return for another break. All the residents were treated with dignity and respect. The food was varied and well presented and there was plenty to eat. Well done to everyone at Whitebourne.

Following admission to Whitebourne, our Mum is looking and feeling much better thanks to the kind, caring, supportive staff. Mum enjoys all the activities, interaction and stimulation provided as part of her daily routine. As a family, we have found the management team and staff to be very professional and supportive through difficult and challenging times. Excellent team, thank you.

Mum was placed in Whitebourne after a 2 1/2 week stay in the Frimley Park hospital and a subsequent 3 1/2 week stay in the Fareham hospital. Mum was extremely distressed when she arrived at Whitebourne and very agitated about what was going to happen to her. Although mum has been in isolation since arriving she is much happier, sleeping better and getting the care and attention she needs with her dementia. The manager and the staff have all been exceptional.

My mum went into Whitebourne in June 2020 when families were unable to enter care homes. The staff and manager were very helpful in reassuring us that she was ok and settling in well. Since she has been at Whitebourne she has flourished, looking much happier and healthier than before. She joins in with the activities regularly. All the staff are incredibly helpful and the activities team, especially one lady, are fabulous.

We have found the care home at Whitebourne excellent in all areas. They have all worked very hard over the past year (during the pandemic) to keep the residents safe. Also enables us to keep in contact with my relative through visits outdoors and in the pod and through Whatsapp video calls. We have seen first hand how all the staff treat my relative with care and kindness.

I cannot praise the home enough. The manager and all the staff work so well together to the benefit of the residents. A new library and sweatshop have been created and are really popular. My husband has vascular dementia and is just a shell of the man he once was. Married for 61 years, I find it very hard as he cannot communicate, but the care staff help the visit along. My consultation is that he is settled and well looked after.

My mother has been at Whitebourne for the past 9 months. I am so happy with my choice. The staff are amazing and I feel a real bond has formed, with several people. The effort and care, I have to say, are outstanding. Communication over the past 6 months has been great, telephone calls and social media coverage, which is just fantastic - to see your loved ones. Visits have been mixed, as at the beginning, it was difficult for both my mother and myself, as obviously no contact, hard for all. She did need support and encouragement at this difficult time. The pandemic really did not help as it was such a change for her from living with my father. The love and encouragement I see, is fantastic and I feel my mother has settled in well, due to this.

Overall, the staff are friendly and caring. If anything to be recommended, more staff are needed. It is difficult to comment as we have not been in the home for a year. It seems they have had Covid under control as best they can with no major outbreaks. The manager has been outstanding, always keeping us informed and is proactive.

My father has been a resident for the last couple of years. In general, the staff have always been very helpful and friendly and take pride in doing what can be a very challenging job, particularly in the recent pandemic. The home is always clean and various events are organised for those who want to participate. Following management changes, the service seems to have improved during the time my father has been a resident. Particularly during COVID, there has been an increase in communication from the management, which has been good. Issues have only generally arisen through the overall process and procedures. When issues have been raised, these have been dealt with, when followed up. It would be good if more things could be done electronically so that records could be accessed by relatives, appointments booked etc. We are very grateful to all the staff for the amazing work they have done during the pandemic.

I was very apprehensive about my mum moving into a care home, however, I could not have been more wrong. The staff at Whitebourne are excellent, going out of their way to support my mum every day (she has dementia) and making her feel at home. The activities coordinators (you know who you are!) are amazing and keep my mum busy and entertained, thank you so much for looking after her.

The manager and all of the staff have been very caring and kind to me all year. Thank you all so much.

My husband has been a resident of Whitebourne care home for two years now, and I have no hesitation in recommending the care home. The staff are always welcoming in relation to health and mental concerns, along with acting swiftly with any issues. Since the change of management, there has been a vast improvement throughout the home and staff. Excellent work by all in relation to covid, procedures, visits, care and understanding.

My mother has been staying here for the last 3 odd years and in that time this care home has become very professional, whilst still maintaining a friendly caring atmosphere. The staff are very attentive and approachable. They keep you informed if there are any issues. My mother has enjoyed her time here and will be returning in the future.

Mum is very happy here. The premises are clean. The staff are always friendly and helpful both to the residents and visitors. She is well looked after. The only downside is that because her legs are too weak for walking she needs a wheelchair to move around ahs has not been out of the care home in a very long time.

My husband has been attending the day centre at Whitbourne for some years. Since new management, the centre has improved greatly. Every person I have come into contact with has been so kind and friendly and I do not know what I would do without this two day a week break. I cannot comment on the rooms as we don't have one, due to my husband being a day centre resident.

Great impressions are given from the care home, with friendly staff and lots going on throughout our visit. Also, we noted that the signs were very clear with my grandad also mentioning this point. Easy to move around even if the building is a bit of a maze. Easy to also walk around and his room was very clean and bright. Adds to a 'lively' atmosphere.

Mum is looked after really well by all the staff. They are all so friendly and attentive. Mum is always clean and comfortable and included in the activities. I know she is safe and her medical needs are attended to. She is happy to be left at the end of the visit and is unstressed and relaxed so I have no worries.

Dad has been using Whitebourne for respite and day centre services since September 2017. The day centre and care home staff are amazing. They always have a happy welcome ready on arrival and centre activities and care needs around each individual. As a family, we know Dad is in good hands at Whitebourne, with comfortable, cosy rooms, lovely hearty food and kind caring staff.

A pleasant, caring home for Mum and being improved still further. Convenient to get to and open all hours is reassuring. All these care homes are not all cheap, but Whitebourne is as good as you can get. Staff and management are to be commended. The challenge might be to get an 'excellent' review from the authorities. In the meantime, well done and thank you.
