Not only was I extremely well looked after, but I also enjoyed my stay there.
This was due to very responsive and caring staff team. I include everyone, ie all carers, cleaners, chef, management. I could not have asked for more.
Many thanks
My brother moved into Alfriston Court because he had become too frail to continue living on his own. Initially he found it difficult to accept that he needed to rely on others, along with the obvious lack of independence. However, he soon realised that all the worries associated with coping alone had disappeared and he was in the best possible place. His room was lovely and without exception the staff are kind, compassionate and professional. I have no hesitation in recommending it.
I was impressed by the quality of the care that my mother received while she was at Alfriston Court Care Home. The staff were highly professional and empathetic. My mother could not have been in better hands.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our Home - the words are very encouraging to all the staff. Thank you.
My wife was admitted for end of life care, and during her 5 weeks residence in a very pleasant double room she received excellent medical and physical care from an experienced, compassionate and kind staff of whom she became very fond. She could not have been any place better.
Thank you so much for your kind words. They are a great encouragement to staff.
I just want to take a moment to write about my interaction with Alfriston Court. Firstly, it was the most beautiful care home in terms of setting. That aside all the staff I met were amazing, really caring and supportive with the needs of me as a daughter but more importantly my mother and her quite specific care needs. Thank you
After over 100 days at AC I am confident to say that this home must rank as one of the finest in the UK, superb owners dedicated to making this so. Focused management and brilliant and caring staff are a core strength. The activities team were a fountain of innovation and fun. Catering very good. Home location in the Sussex Downs, bucolic!
Dear Jonnie, thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. Very much appreciated by all Staff.
I heartily commend this beautiful home, who provided outstanding care to my grandmother for nine years. Wonderful staff, great activities, tasty food and a beautiful setting. The care and compassion shown in Gran's final week was hugely appreciated and enabled her to have the peaceful, dignified death at home that she had wanted. We highly commend Alfrison Court for their wonderful work.
Thank you for your kind and encouraging words to our staff. It was a huge privilege to care for your grandmother.
My mother-in-law has been a resident in Alfriston Court Care Home for quite a while and we have seen the wonderful transformation the new owners have made. They have taken it from a good care home to an exceptional family home with elderly residents. This has been done so carefully and considerately so the existing residents felt a gentle transition that they've been involved too. The love and care that is given by the owners and staff is amazing. Nothing is ever too much. If you're looking for a wonderful environment and loving care for an elderly resident for their last few years/months, then I thoroughly recommend this very special place.
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. They are really appreciated by all of staff.
Mum went to the home when her care needs could no longer be met at home. She has a lovely room with far-reaching views over the valley and onto the South Downs. She frequently commented on the peace and quiet of the home and that all the staff and carers were always so friendly. Sadly, mum passed away in December after complications from a small fall, but not as a result of any lack of care or attention from the home. We were so pleased that she was able to spend her final 4 months in such a pleasant and caring environment.
Thank you again for your kind words - I'm so glad we were able to care for your mother.
Beautifully furnished, with home-cooked food and dedicated, person-centred care from a wonderful team who I cannot rate highly enough.
The owners, Deborah and Will, the Home Manager Anita and the Accounts Manager Zeynep, are an extremely caring bunch, who lead their team by example. They consistently prioritised my mother's well-being and best interests during the last 15 months of her very long life. Through their empathetic leadership Mum was able to remain in a familiar setting where she felt safe and received compassionate care until she passed peacefully aged 94.
Thank you Alfriston Court
Dear Helen, Thank you so much for your kind words - they are much appreciated by all staff. I'm so glad we were able to care for your mother.
We made the difficult decision to put my mother into a nursing home back in July. We chose Alfriston Court for its location, warmth of staff, facilities, standard of nursing care and cleanliness. We have been overwhelmed by the quality of the care my mum has received. The staff and management have worked with us through her immense nursing requirements, her grief after losing her husband of 63 years and her mental health challenges. Mum now happily makes her way around the home, chatting with her friends and all the staff and feels safe and secure. There is a low staff turnover and lots of friendly, genuinely caring employees as well as the owners seen regularly who talk through any concerns or ensure everything is ok. I cannot recommend the home enough and we have been able to get on with our lives and enjoy being a daughter and granddaughter again knowing mum is happy, safe and cared for in beautiful surroundings.
Dear Lee, thank you so much for choosing Alfriston Court. It is such a privilege to care for your mother and we are so glad her care has made such a difference to your family.
Whilst away myself, I was delighted to hear from my wife that she was enjoying her recent stay on respite at Alfriston Court. The home is in exceptional surroundings, and she had a lovely, spacious room with a wonderful view. The staff were very good, having had a great deal of personal experience both professionally and as a resident, she said it was refreshing to feel so well looked after and to see all the members of the team supporting one another. There was obviously good leadership involved, and this reflected on the resident focused philosophy of the home.
Dear Chris, thank you so much for choosing Alfriston Court for respite for your wife. She was a real delight to look after. Please come again!
We have a weekly programme of talks and activities, and I enjoy joining in. They include painting, keeping fit exercises, and each fortnight we have a pianist who comes to play and chat to us, and also a guitarist who comes occasionally.
A completely deaf housekeeper joined the home recently, so we are learning sign language. All the staff here are patient and friendly, and I am grateful and appreciate this.
We are so glad you are with us - you bring so much joy to the Home! Thank you for your kind and encouraging words.
I stayed at Alfriston Court because I was recovering after having a full knee replacement. Alfriston Court is a beautiful place and just the place to get some help and relaxation after a painful and demanding operation. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. If I was a resident, I would like to do a lot of activities, perhaps armchair dancing, gardening and book club, trips to the local tea shops each week and visits to the theatre. I think it is so important to keep the mind stimulated.
Everybody is very friendly and efficient.
No complaints. Made to feel at home welcome on her first day. Was very happy with the administration of medicine and heath care and I fully trust those who handle the medical and personal care.
All the staff are kind and friendly and nothing is too much trouble, they have a good varied menu available which caters to all needs. They also give out a weekly plan of activities going on daily encouraging the residents to participate. They have some great outdoor summer events where friends and family are welcomed.
Credit to the owners and everyone within the team.
Thank you so much for your kind words - they are a genuine encouragement to the whole team.
My mother has been in Alfriston Court Care home for 9 months , having moved in on respite care she settled very quickly and made the decision to stay permanently . Mum is really happy in this home , she has a lovely room and has bought lots of her own furniture with her . The care is excellent and the staff look after her every need and are especially helpful with her medical needs . Mum loves the food, loves the activities which have really broadened her approach to life and often says the other residents and the staff are like a family to her. Mum is constantly telling me how lucky we were to find a place in this care home and it is so reassuring to me and my sister to know we don't need to worry about her wellbeing .
Thank you so much Julia for your kind words - such an encouragement to us all. It is such a privilege to care for your mother.
An excellent service. Staff are kind and caring. Food is varied and catered to your needs. Situated with fantastic views make your stay a good experience. A credit to the owners of Alfriston Court.
After living independently for all her adult life my mother's health started to fail. For the last 4 months of her life she stayed at Alfriston Court. Every single member of staff made her last days very special with their kindness, affection and professionalism. The home is situated in the glorious Sussex countryside with wonderful views. Thank you Alfriston for everything!

Anita Message qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1986 before going on to midwifery training and qualifying in 1989.
After having her own three daughters and working in a primary school for many years, specifically on a one-to-one basis with Special Education Needs children, Anita applied for the post of Nurse at Alfriston Court in 2018.
She then secured the role of Head of Care at the beginning of 2020, taking on the Registered Manager Role in 2024 following the retirement of Shirley Eyles.
Anita says: “I once heard that, if you found a job you love, then you would never have to work again. If that’s the case, I can honestly say I haven’t worked a single day since September 2018!”
“Alfriston is one of my all-time favourite villages. The setting of Alfriston Court is quite exquisite. I feel that this really is my dream job. Love every second of it.”

Following his initial training as a chef in a BUPA care home, Adam was headhunted by his former BUPA head chef and persuaded to join him at Alfriston Court as his second chef, having bagged the top job there when it first opened.
Adam quickly worked his way up, completing sought-after qualifications in hospitality supervision and leadership and, when Alfriston’s head chef moved on, Adam was more than able to step up. He is enormously well-liked and has a superb set of skills which keep his menus exciting, nutritious, traditional yet innovative and well-balanced.
Adam takes great pride in delivering the very best quality cuisine for Alfriston Court’s residents and has been a finalist in the Independent Care Home Caterer of the Year Awards.
“It wasn’t something I was looking for at the time, but I’m very happy I grabbed the opportunity to work at Alfriston Court. Becoming Head Chef has allowed me to develop my skills even further and I really enjoy what I do for our lovely residents.”

Vanessa (aka Nessie, pictured left) was one of the famous Butlins’ Redcoats, a title given to frontline staff at Butlins holiday camps throughout the UK with duties ranging from adults’ and children’s entertainment to stewarding.
Undergoing a tough selection process, each Redcoat has to show customer services and guest-facing skills and can also showcase their singing and dancing expertise.
Nessie stills absolutely loves singing and entertaining and puts these skills to great use for our residents here at Alfriston Court, which she joined two years ago. One of her biggest aims, she says, is to keep the residents happy and Nessie organises events to keep everyone engaged and as fit as they can be.
Sallyann is a more recent addition to the activities team, but joins us with a mass of experience. We'll update you with her background just as soon as we have it all!
