My mother has settled in extremely well and is very happy here. She has nothing but praise for the staff and says they are all kind and caring. She says the food is excellent and constantly proclaims how lucky she is to be looked after in the equivalent of a 5* hotel!
We are so happy your mother has settled in so well and most importantly is happy. Such high praise, thank you for sharing!
Very helpful, friendly staff. I would certainly recommend Alfriston Court to anyone who was wanting a home.
Thank you for your kind words. It means so much to us that you would recommend our home. Best wishes.
Due to the caring, professional staff, my mother settled in here really quickly, and happy and content. There are always activities for the residents to take part in if they wish to do so. The staff are respectful, friendly and helpful. They are very welcoming to visitors and residents' family members and always have time to listen to any concerns. I am very happy to recommend this home.
Thank you so much for this wonderful review. We are so pleased your mother is happy at Alfriston Court. Thank you for sharing your experience. Best wishes.
The only time I wish to bring to light was that my mother took very ill on a Friday night and because the local GP had not written an end of life care package up, my daughter had to drive across country late at night for the prescription.
Thank you for you kind review, which shall be shared with all team members. Thank you also for you feedback in regards to the prescription. The home manager shall be following this up with the local GP surgery. Best wishes
The residents often have entertainment and are often busy with activities. I couldn't wish for a nicer care home for my mother.
Thank you for your lovely review. We shall share your kind comments with all members of the team who will be delighted.
My mother-in-law [Mum] has been cared for and nursed at Alfriston Court now since May 2016. The understanding, care and support given by all staff has been completely genuine throughout that time. The consideration and friendliness by staff for Mum and her family has been openly sincere, making every possible requirement to ensure the best arrangments are made for Mum's quality of life. The significant effort to organise the regular activities by staff for residents is very clear to see by their enjoyment and is much appreciated by all who attend. The staff were so accommodating with giving their time and helpful input for having Mum's 100th Birthday Party event at Alfriston Court for which we will be eternally grateful. It was no surprise that my own family were so pleased that our own Mother was also able to be resident at Alfriston Court for a short period before her passing. Again the staff were so naturally supportive and friendly for her and her particular needs.
Thank you Gary for such heartwarming comments. I know the whole team at Alfriston Court will be immensely proud to hear of your experience with us.
When we called by phone staff couldn't transfer our call to her room phone, instead, having to walk round to her room and present her with their phone.
The hot water in Mum’s ensuite was unreliable so she didn't shower for her entire stay. Staff finally offered an assisted shower on day 17. She asked instead for a bath. The water was cold so Mum had to go without. Coincidence that the shower was only offered the day before she was due to be collected by her family.
I complained in writing, got the usual apologetic letter with noises about reviewing processes etc, but no suggestion of any partial refund etc.
Hopefully, they have sharpened up their act since. We won’t be using them again, but at least we learnt not to be over-influenced by nice surroundings!
Dear Jo,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry that you did not find our service as you would have expected, and we thank you for highlighting to us the shortfalls in your Mum’s stay. Sharon the Home manager fully investigated each concern raised and we have...
What a wonderful place to live. Although mum was only resident for 9 wks every aspect of Alfriston Court was excellent. It was second to none. Thank you, everybody.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts of Alfriston Court. It is so special to share your kind words with the whole team, so thank you. Best wishes Kate Russell and all at Alfriston Court.
Fantastic care in a lovely very well run home. Although my mother was only there for 9 weeks after being "fast-tracked" from hospital the care and love given by all the staff was second to none. Their consideration to family and visitors was also exceptional. I hope that I can find somewhere like this if I ever need it!
Thank you for your lovely review and kind words, which will be shared with all team members. Wishing you all the best and feel free to pop on for a cup of tea if you ever wish to. Many thanks.
My father spent his last couple of weeks at this home and I can honestly say that we couldn't have wished for more. He was totally respected and well-cared for as were we each time we visited him. All the staff were so friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. We felt as if they were almost family! They allowed us to visit at any time and always asked us what we would like. They were always on-hand, yet totally respected our privacy.
We couldn't have wished for a better place for our dear father/husband/grandfather to spend his last days. Alfriston was a favourite place for him and my mother to visit in better days and we now have good memories of him being in that place as he peacefully left this world with his family around him, which was a huge comfort to us all.
Thank you so much, everyone, at Alfriston Court!
Thank you for sharing your experience with Alfriston Court. We are very privileged in our roles and it means so much to each member of the team to hear your kind words. Best wishes Kate Russell
I cannot praise too highly the staff there. Always helpful, always willing, never showing any reluctance to answer my bell 24 hours a day. They are an important assist to you and get 10/10 from me.
Thank you for taking the time to give us such wonderful feedback. We are so lucky to have such wonderful staff and I know Sharon and the whole team will be so pleased to see your comments and score! Best wishes.
She says that the care is fantastic and it makes me so happy to see her happy.
The manager and staff are very friendly and supportive.
Thank you for your kind words, we are so glad that your nan is settled in to the home!
The staff are amazing and so helpful.
The home is always clean and beautifully tidy and the manager is always friendly and available to answer any questions.
Thank you so much for your lovely review of our home. We are so glad your aunt is happy at Alfriston Court!
Staff very caring.
My sister always seems happy and talks highly of members of staff that care for her.
I can see how well looked after she is by her appearance and well being.
I am very grateful as a lot of pressure has been taken off me.
I can also have peace of mind and not feel guilty about putting her in care, as I found this a very hard choice.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We are so glad your sister has settled into Alfriston Court and that you have peace of mind that she is safe with us!
A wonderful care home with the most amazing staff. Such a loving environment and beautiful décor with outstanding views.
There is always a positive welcome and willingness to work together as a team to ensure the best outcome. Staff work happily together to support each resident with their needs. It is well run by the manager who has a 'can do' attitude and a constant wish to achieve the best results at all levels.
My brother has complex needs and requires end of life care - his partner was also nursed here and tenderly cared for in her final days (16/08/17).
Improvements are being made to give social interaction time to those confined by illness to their rooms. This is important for my brother as he gets lonely.
My father has advanced cancer and was unable to maintain a decent quality of life at home. He has been treated 'like royalty' at Alfriston Court and after only one week he is looking and feeling better. The staff are all absolutely lovely and they care for him on every level. The food is fantastic, the chefs are so keen to provide for Dad's every preference. Visiting is a pleasure as we can drop in any time. Dad can have visitors for lunch and four of his nephews and nieces joined him for a lovely lunch. Two are chefs and they are very impressed.
Thank you so much for your lovely words. We are so happy your dad has settled into Alfriston. We endeavour to maintain our high standards!
Our first visit which has been most enjoyable. Excellent lunch!
My uncle has only been here a short time but is very happy and realises the care here is exactly what he needs. It actually meets all his needs. Beautiful setting.
We have been extremely satisfied with the super care my mother has been given in the home. She is always very content, happy and her room and always comments on how delicious the food is. We have always found the staff to be very friendly and extremely attentive.
Thank you so much for your kind words!

Anita Message qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1986 before going on to midwifery training and qualifying in 1989.
After having her own three daughters and working in a primary school for many years, specifically on a one-to-one basis with Special Education Needs children, Anita applied for the post of Nurse at Alfriston Court in 2018.
She then secured the role of Head of Care at the beginning of 2020, taking on the Registered Manager Role in 2024 following the retirement of Shirley Eyles.
Anita says: “I once heard that, if you found a job you love, then you would never have to work again. If that’s the case, I can honestly say I haven’t worked a single day since September 2018!”
“Alfriston is one of my all-time favourite villages. The setting of Alfriston Court is quite exquisite. I feel that this really is my dream job. Love every second of it.”

Following his initial training as a chef in a BUPA care home, Adam was headhunted by his former BUPA head chef and persuaded to join him at Alfriston Court as his second chef, having bagged the top job there when it first opened.
Adam quickly worked his way up, completing sought-after qualifications in hospitality supervision and leadership and, when Alfriston’s head chef moved on, Adam was more than able to step up. He is enormously well-liked and has a superb set of skills which keep his menus exciting, nutritious, traditional yet innovative and well-balanced.
Adam takes great pride in delivering the very best quality cuisine for Alfriston Court’s residents and has been a finalist in the Independent Care Home Caterer of the Year Awards.
“It wasn’t something I was looking for at the time, but I’m very happy I grabbed the opportunity to work at Alfriston Court. Becoming Head Chef has allowed me to develop my skills even further and I really enjoy what I do for our lovely residents.”

Vanessa (aka Nessie, pictured left) was one of the famous Butlins’ Redcoats, a title given to frontline staff at Butlins holiday camps throughout the UK with duties ranging from adults’ and children’s entertainment to stewarding.
Undergoing a tough selection process, each Redcoat has to show customer services and guest-facing skills and can also showcase their singing and dancing expertise.
Nessie stills absolutely loves singing and entertaining and puts these skills to great use for our residents here at Alfriston Court, which she joined two years ago. One of her biggest aims, she says, is to keep the residents happy and Nessie organises events to keep everyone engaged and as fit as they can be.
Sallyann is a more recent addition to the activities team, but joins us with a mass of experience. We'll update you with her background just as soon as we have it all!
