My experience as a resident for about six years has been that:

- the friendliness and helpfulness of most of the staff,
- the wide variety of entertainment activities available,

- the generally high quality of the (purpose-built) accommodation which gives an impression of spaciousness and light and also - in the case of the three distinctive lounges - of comfort.

All combine to make Bethune Court feel like a 'home from home'.

My time at Bethune Court Care Home has been really happy as the people are very friendly and they make sure we use our time to get the maximum interest out of life.

Hastings is brilliant as the town caters for a large variety of people and encourages diversity in ideas as well as occupation, so you may discover a group in the home discussing the likelihood of 'global warming' by another one who are seriously concerned about an increase in cabbage flies on the town allotments!

I found the home to be very comfortable. I liked my room. It was homely, light and bright. Te range of choice of meals was very good. The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. The range of activities was good. I liked having my own chair put in place. If and when I return, I will look forward to any trips that the home organises. Thank you so much - further, the walk in shower was excellent.

Excellent, modern, clean run home. The staff are friendly and caring with good interaction with myself letting me know of any issues arising with my dad. Importantly he is happy with the carers and his accommodation but sadly cannot accept his change in his life.

If all care homes are as good as this there would be few issues.

Over the past year I have been more than happy with the all round care provided by the staff at Bethune court. They treat my mother with respect and the care provided is exemplary. I would/have not hesitated to recommend Bethune Court to anyone looking for care for the elderly with Dementia/Alzheimer's.

Bethune Court has been perfect for our difficult relative - they keep him calm, settled and involved without using medication. He believes he's in a 5* hotel and with superb food, light surroundings and caring staff, we almost believe it too.

I was recommended Bethune Court by a resident over 3 years ago and haven't regretted it. Mum is permanently happy there - well cared for. I visit at a range of days/times and am always made to feel welcome. Care/support is first class.

Mum initially went into the care home for respite only, but quickly appreciated that she was no longer coping at her own home and wanted to stay. We are therefore pleased that she is surrounded by caring staff, given good wholesome food and there is plenty of activities if she wants to join in. Whenever we visit her, we always have a warm welcome. Everyone is very friendly and we have been grateful for any advice needed - especially in the early days. As we live some distance away, it's reassuring for us to know that mum is really happy there and well looked after - many thanks!

A few years ago, my aunt was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and it became obvious to her family that she could no longer continue living alone. I took her to see many care homes in Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings and she chose Bethune Court. She especially enjoys being able to see the sea from her window (she was in the navy).

Her room is always clean and comfortable and she is now content to spend her time at Bethune Court. She enjoys the activities and going for walks and outings with the staff she also loves her breakfast and is very happy with the food offered. She is now happy and settled at Bethrune Court.

Review from MF (Partner of Resident) published on 21 November 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I am writing on behalf of my partner who was there on respite. He is unable to communicate or express himself very well. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and caring. I was very happy with the care and environment and felt at ease leaving him. The staff did try to encourage my partner to integrate with other clients at meal times. I was given feedback on a daily basis which also put my mind at ease. This was a positive experience and hope to use this care home again.

The welcome was excellent, all the staff friendly, reassuring and fun to be with. The staff make my mum not feel embarrassed and they all seem to enjoy their work. The building is beautifully decorated and staff all wear uniform identifying them so easily. It would be nice if residents could go out in the fresh air more, for little walks if that was possible, but an excellent place.
