After a period of time having respite care here, my mother decided to return to continue to have residential care. She feels safe and well cared for. All the staff are extremely kind and attentive, they are always happy to please, nothing seems too much trouble. She has a lovely room, very bright and a beautiful view of the sea.
We are pleased to have Mum back here with us at Grosvenor and that she feels safe and well cared for. Mum has a good sense of humour and has staff and residents laughing. We are glad she likes her room with the view. It is always a pleasure to see you, your sister and the family.
Grosvenor House has been a very positive experience for my mother. The support and care she has received whilst living there has been amazing. She has been rejuvenated whilst living there and leaving to relocate to be closer to family was an extremely hard decision to make. The staff from the top down have such a warm, supported attitude to everyone, from residents to family members. We always felt welcomed when we popped in to see Mum. Mum was very happy living there and I would recommend Grosvenor House to everyone. We can't say thank you enough.
It has been a pleasure having your mother stay with us at Grosvenor House. She has been an inspiration with fundraising and bringing in new ideas for us with regards to activities, which we without doubt will carry on. We wish Mum well and all the best in her new location and venture. It has been lovely meeting you and the family and wish you well.
We are very lucky to have been given a place in this care home. The staff are kind, caring and extremely hard working. The management is always available; they respond quickly to any query and go out of their way to be helpful and supportive. It is a pity I cannot use names as there are several members of staff and management who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. My thanks to everyone concerned. My family and I are extremely grateful.
Our motto is to always have an open-door policy, so concerns or queries can be dealt with without delay where possible. We are not only here to care for and support your loved ones but to support your family as well. Thank you, Lois, for a glowing review and I will pass your comments on to the staff.
Grosvenor House is a wonderful care home. All the staff are extremely friendly, caring and very helpful. Every day there is always some sort of activity going on from baking cakes, knitting club, bingo, chair aerobics and a lot more. I have always found the manager’s door is always open for any concerns you have or just for a little chat. My mum was very happy there, I would be happy to recommend it to anyone - you won’t be disappointed!
It was an absolute pleasure to care for Mum. She was a lovely lady, full of character, we miss her dearly. May I say what a pleasure it has been to have known you and the family. A family to be proud of.
Mum only recently moved to Grosvenor House and the staff have worked very hard to help her settle into her new surroundings. Always a welcoming reception when we visit.
Thank you for your review. It's a pleasure to have Mum staying with us and I hope she will be happy at Grosvenor House.
She has a lovely room overlooking the bowling green with sea views. The rooms are well decorated, very clean and tidy. The staff are all very friendly, kind and caring.
Thank you so much for a lovely review. We are glad Mum is enjoying her stay with us and may we say, it is our pleasure having her here too.
From the very first meeting, the team at Grosvenor House welcomed my nan with open arms and made her transition into care the best it could have been. Nan is happy and comfy and she's made new friends and life seems a lot kinder. I am very grateful to all the staff members who invest so much in the care of their residents. It was great having Nan at home with us on Christmas Day, we couldn't have done that without your help. Many thanks!
Nan has a good sense of humour and it is our pleasure to have her stay with us. I am glad Christmas went well and thank you for a lovely review, I will pass this on to the staff.
I was always kept informed of any changes in my dad's health and with the end-of-life care they went above and beyond with their care for him and the support for the family. The Management and all the team have been amazing and work so hard and I cannot thank them enough for all they did for my dad.
Thank you, Sue, for your kind words. We feel honoured that your dad lived with us. He was a lovely man and would not let anything beat him. We miss him dearly. He bought character to the home. We also miss seeing you and your brother and the banter we had. Look forward to you following us on Facebook and keeping in touch.
All the staff are excellent, providing a caring and attentive service for residents. Rooms are always clean and tidy. Meals provided are carried and tasty. There are always a variety of activities to entertain residents, and the facilities provided are excellent.
Kind regards.
We had heard good reports about this care home, and our experience to date confirms this to be the case. All the staff are very friendly, and when I visit, I'm always met with a friendly welcome. My dad has a very nice room with a view of the sea, and the staff have taken him for walks around the nearby gardens. I was very impressed one day when four of the residents, including my dad were pushed in wheelchairs a half mile along the seafront to a cafe for something to eat and drink. I bet that was hard work. At times he can be very difficult, and the staff have dealt with this in a very patient manner. There's no questions he is receiving a far higher level of care now he's in this care home than he would have done had he not moved in. It's also true he's now receiving regular medical reviews of his health and when there's been a medical emergency the response has been very quick.
Thank you for this lovely review. Your dad is quite a character (in a good way) and can be quite cheeky. It is a pleasure for us to have him staying at Grosvenor House.
My friend had a stroke and lost some of her mobility and as a result, she lost confidence. At home again she was unable to cope with housework and she reacted badly to being indoors 24/7 and was underweight. After settling in at Grosvenor House, she enjoyed her room and the fact that she was in the company of others. She has regained her lost weight and she has gained in confidence. It will be a help, while trying to improve her mobility, that she is surrounded by friendly staff and residents.
Thank you.
My brother and I consider ourselves so lucky to have found Grosvenor House. In the early days, Mum enjoyed the company and the lovely activities. Now she is bed-bound and on end-of-life care, she remains a well-loved member of the community and enjoys the care which is second to none. We cannot thank them enough for all they do!
Your mum is well thought of here and comfort is a priority. Thank you for your kind words and I will pass them on to all the staff.
It's such a relief to have found such an exemplary care home. Your whole staff team are a credit to you. I will definitely recommend. Well done.
I am just so glad we could help, and what a pleasure it is to have your friend staying with us. Your words mean a great deal to me and all the team and we thank you for this. As you are aware there is a big day coming up soon hopefully all will enjoy it.
Excellent. Great view of the sea from my room. A cafe within easy reach. All my pictures from home are on my wall at Grosvenor House. Very nice staff. Well run and attentive care.
We are pleased you have settled in well and feel you are able to make the room your own. We are very lucky with the amenities close to the home.
My mother used to live by herself and was independent but she then fell and broke her hip. Following this she lost her mobility and there was no choice but to move her into a care home. This took place during Covid in December 2020 however Greensleeves were extremely helpful and supportive throughout this process. I had to transfer my mother from hospital to Grosvenor House myself, when I arrived at Grosvenor House I was immediately impressed by the care and skill shown in getting my mother out of my car and into a wheelchair - it took three people! The unplanned move to a care home was a shock for my mother and the loss of independence continues to be a challenge, however throughout all this time staff in the home have given my mother the care she needs, initially helping her with almost everything whilst giving her the space to gradually regain some limited mobility. Mum feels safe there and has appreciated the immediate support when she has been unwell and I feel she is safe there.
Thank you so much for your review. No, the timing was not good when Mum needed a care home due to the pandemic, and it also wasn't easy for yourself and the family as visits were at the time so restrictive. I am really pleased Mum feels safe and we endeavour to encourage her to keep her...
This was the most difficult time, due to Covid, for all of us. Yet somehow the staff kept their spirits and were cheerful. We were kept fully informed of the steps the home put in place so we could see our loved ones.
My mother passed away about 2 weeks ago. During her last days, the staff took steps so my mother would be comfortable and gave her excellent care.
I feel that the staff have become an extension of our family and I will miss them.
I would highly recommend this care home. If anyone is looking at care homes for their loved one, and there is a vacancy, then grab it!
Thank you. We feel privileged to have looked after Mum. She was a very kind, caring and loving lady with a good sense of humour. It has been an honour to have known you, your brother and all the family and we will miss seeing you too. Take good care and you're more than welcome to pop in and have a cup of tea, anytime.
My mum came to stay in Grosvenor House following a lengthy stay in hospital. We both began to relax as she settled into this lovely home. The manager and her staff have excelled in their welcome, all are kind, friendly and fill me with confidence that I chose the right place for her. They go over and above to help us and consider Mum's special needs. Friendly, kind and caring - excellent.
Thank you, Pauline, for your kind words. It's a pleasure to have Mum stay with us.
My auntie is 96 years old and has lived in this home for 7-8 years and for all that time, including this review period, I have found that the care she has received to be excellent. At all times the management and staff have been very welcoming to my husband and I whenever we have been able to visit. They are very easy to talk to and have kept me fully informed of both my aunt and the overall situation within the home. Unfortunately due to my aunt's failing eyesight and hearing, she has recently been unable to take part in many activities. Her medical needs are well cared for and I do not have any concerns for her wellbeing. A big thank you to you all for your kindness and patience. I have no hesitation in recommending Grosvenor House.
Very kind and patient staff - nothing is too much trouble. Pleasant location near park and sea. Ensuite wet rooms and shower for all. Pleasant lounges in the main building. Activities various kinds for amusing residents during the week - different board games - exercises to promote physical fitness. Central heating and fans in all rooms.
My Mum came to Grovesnor House over 6 months ago during the pandemic. Due to the restrictions with Covid-19, we were unable to look around the home, however, we were recommended Grovesnor House by friends for its standards of care and warmth. Its been a difficult process for the family however it has been great to see Mum well cared for, looked after and Mum being more herself again. Mum tells us often that her care is great, she enjoys social contact with others over lunch and dinner. There are lots of activities within the home that are streamed live on social media so it has been great to see a bit more of the home and the other residents.

We encourage residents to maximise on their abilities and assist them with their respective needs.
We have an open door approach, even if it is just someone dropping in to see what we are all about.

I have worked at Grosvenor House since 2016 and in the catering industry since I was 17 years old.
In my working career, I have had the opportunity of both integrating in a front-of-house manner with the public and also behind the scenes, preparing and designing original and nutritious menus. Grosvenor House, I am delighted to say, fulfils both of these passions and hence provides me with immense job satisfaction.

“I joined Grosvenor House as a carer and did that for 10 years before moving to the domestic team in late 2025. It feels like my true calling, combining caring with cleaning. I love seeing the residents, and I’m very proud to work here. After 22 years in care, this home is the best by far – small, homely and a place where you can really deliver personalised care.”

“I started in care in 2013 and joined Grosvenor in January 2022. I work mostly night shifts with some days too – the flexibility really works for my life. My favourite part is looking after the residents. It’s they who pay my wages, not my employer, and they deserve the very best of my care. Nights are a big responsibility, but support is always a phone call away.”

Before joining Grosvenor House, I worked in a nursing home for eight years.
I am originally from the Philippines, where I studied for a practical nursing qualification, which is equivalent to an NVQ level 3.
I like working at Grosvenor House due to the environment and the people. Elvie said that "there's a real sense of teamwork and everybody helps each other"
And also, the residents and their families are really friendly too!
