I feel all the carers and everyone are so helpful and pleasant and I don't feel I could find anywhere up to this standard. I love the outings arranged and offered. Just had tea dance at the local theatre and our open day, which was most enjoyable. I look forward to more outings.

Grosvenor House has a fantastic location near St Leonards seafront. All the staff and management are extremely caring and approachable. My mum is becoming more difficult and less mobile as she gets older, but staff are doing their best to accommodate her as she regards Grosvenor House as her home.

Grosvenor House is a very pleasant care home and the staff are extremely caring. The home is situated in a very pleasant part of Hastings overlooking the sea.

Activities, when arranged, are very good and varied. Being not too big, the home has a friendly family feel.

My mother became a resident at short notice after she had a stroke following my father's death.

The staff were very professional, but also kind and helpful. The care provided enabled my mother to feel safe at a difficult time. It is amazing how quickly she has settled into her new home. Staff have helped her to feel positive about the future and ensured that she feels valued and able to continue to make a contribution to society. We are very pleased to have found Grosvenor House.

I came for 2 weeks respite having lost my husband in February 2017. We had both been to Grosvenor House on many occasions entertaining with handbells. My eyesight was not good and various other health problems, I have decided to take up permanent residence. I also have several friends here.

The agency staff left a lot to be desired and unfortunately I had a lot of agency staff during my stay. Many of them were not trained and did not understand English.

The regular staff were in the main, kind, considerate and very helpful.

I have always thought that the home has a very welcoming feel to it and I have been particularly impressed with the nurse/manager/owner and the care he showed the resident when I had a long discussion with him.

My father is very happy at the care home but there are some issues which are a little worrying:
1) No sufficient attention paid to his 2 hearing aids so that on a number of occasions he has not had one hearing aid working and as he is profoundly hard of hearing he cannot participate in anything.
- Have been some problems regarding his 2 pairs of glasses so that he could not use them.
- In a recent residents meeting no thought had been given to those with hearing problems so that my father heard nothing.

2. A recent huge increase of >10% was not properly or fully explained and when I insisted on an explanation the facts were not disclosed.

I can only speak from limited experience over the past few months. During this period I have been well looked after. On the whole the food is satisfactory and the staff very helpful and courteous.

After living by myself in a bungalow for 30 years it takes some adjusting to life in a care home, this is the only home I have been in so I cannot give a view through experience of the home.

Grosvenor House is top of our list for the understanding it shows of the elderly, the activities, the garden and close proximity to the seafront! Mom had been there for six years before her demise. They are inclusive of all residents and the activities are second to none. They also make full use of the lovely garden. The stimulation, I feel sure enhanced her quality of life. They looked after Mom so well. I could turn up on the doorstep any time, they were so friendly and welcoming, always made time and a cuppa for you.

I am full of gratitude to the staff I never had to worry about Mom. I knew she was in such good hands. The staff are brilliant and they are on to any matter of concern immediately. Mom was always nicely dressed, hair done too. She was never lonely or bored, but could still have her quiet time if she wished. I have saved many photos of my Mom looking involved. Mom was always happy, but she did enjoy a good grumble too! This is a CARE home in the true sense of the word.

I stayed at Grosvenor House for 3 weeks respite care while my husband/ carer was abroad dealing with a medical emergency concerning another member of the family. I was made to feel very welcome and was well cared for throughout my stay. Administration of my medication relating to a number of conditions including diabetes (insulin dependant) was very carefully monitored and supervised. All the staff were very considerate and helpful.

My husband was accommodated in a well furnished room with all facilities. He was very impressed with the standard of care and food. All staff are friendly, caring and attentive. We have no hesitation with recommending Grosvenor House to our friends who may require respite at permanent care in the future. Might I suggest day respite to be considered by your company for carers like myself who occasionally need to socialise e.g. lunch on a day out with friends and can relax knowing our changes are being well cared for. Also a pressure mat would be useful for patients to be available during the night if they are immobile.

Hello, my name is Amanda Newport and I am the Home Manager of Grosvenor House. At Grosvenor House, our aim is to make living in the home a warm, positive experience for all of our residents, families and staff. Together with my team, we ensure that all our residents are treated with respect, dignity and as individuals.

We encourage residents to maximise on their abilities and assist them with their respective needs.

We have an open door approach, even if it is just someone dropping in to see what we are all about.

I have worked at Grosvenor House since 2016 and in the catering industry since I was 17 years old.

In my working career, I have had the opportunity of both integrating in a front-of-house manner with the public and also behind the scenes, preparing and designing original and nutritious menus. Grosvenor House, I am delighted to say, fulfils both of these passions and hence provides me with immense job satisfaction.

“I joined Grosvenor House as a carer and did that for 10 years before moving to the domestic team in late 2025. It feels like my true calling, combining caring with cleaning. I love seeing the residents, and I’m very proud to work here. After 22 years in care, this home is the best by far – small, homely and a place where you can really deliver personalised care.”

“I started in care in 2013 and joined Grosvenor in January 2022. I work mostly night shifts with some days too – the flexibility really works for my life. My favourite part is looking after the residents. It’s they who pay my wages, not my employer, and they deserve the very best of my care. Nights are a big responsibility, but support is always a phone call away.”

I joined the home in March 2023 as a Care Assistant.
Before joining Grosvenor House, I worked in a nursing home for eight years.
I am originally from the Philippines, where I studied for a practical nursing qualification, which is equivalent to an NVQ level 3.
I like working at Grosvenor House due to the environment and the people. Elvie said that "there's a real sense of teamwork and everybody helps each other"

And also, the residents and their families are really friendly too!
