My aunt was in residence at Grosvenor House for 21-months, and she was cared for in a very professional way. The family didn't have to worry about her. The staff are amazing and helped me (especially one lady) on the day of her funeral when I had a fall outside the care home. They gave me expert first aid and gave me advice, which was followed up by another lady at the crematorium. Thank you so much for looking after my relative.

After losing my Dad in 2017, Mum struggled with day to day things so booked into Grosvenor for two weeks respite...she never went home! She loves it there, it’s everything that we could ask for, and gives us peace of mind that she is being well looked after. Since COVID started and they went into lockdown, there has been a gazebo (the love bubble) erected for friends and family to have a 30 minute socially distanced meeting, all done perfectly and safely. Can’t wait to have lunch ‘out’ when this virus is over. The staff have gone above and beyond their duties to make sure that the residents are happy and well looked after. Thanks to the manager for your ongoing care.

Unfortunately, our hands were forced when it came to Mum moving into a care home last year but the Grosvenor House team helped us through the whole procedure. We had a few teething troubles but just over a year on and Mum is very happy. She has dementia but is well looked after by all the kind and caring staff. It's extremely reassuring to know that she is safe and being well cared for by a great team. They all do a great job.

My mum moved here from Hertfordshire in March, just as lockdown started, to be closer to me (in Hastings). From the first moment I was shown around the home, saw how lovely the en-suite bedrooms, the lounges, the dining room, the outside space and the views were, I felt it was the place. However, it was once I met the manager and several of the carers that I knew for certain that it was the place. My mum has dementia, so it was down to me to chose as she wasn't able to. They must surely be the most caring and patient team of people ever. They are also so kind to me and have made it possible for me to see my mum on their weekly video sessions and for us to see each other on FaceTime. The residents have missed family and families have missed the residents but the team has done so much (and installed so much technology) to keep people together and have had some fantastic entertainment to keep up morale. The overriding atmosphere at the home is one of both care and fun.

My mother moved to Grosvenor House from another care home where she had been unhappy. At Grosvenor House, she received the care we had hoped for. In particular, the whole staff from the manager, care staff, tea ladies and cleaners treated her with genuine care and respect. It is clear that all staff are chosen not just for their professionalism, but for their kindness. Thank you all.

Hi Nigel
I know it was only a short time that we had with your mum and the family, but I would like to say what a pleasure it was to have her with us at Grosvenor House. I have passed your message on to all the staff, and they are grateful they were able to give mum the comfort she so well deserved.
Kind regards,

Mandy

My aunt is very comfortable and pleased with the care she receives at Grosvenor House. I visit weekly or thereabouts but not on the same day. My aunt's room and the home generally is always clean and comfortable - no unpleasant odours ever. All members of staff we meet are always friendly, greeting us with a smile and welcome word.

The home is fantastic with my mother. She is not an easy lady but they look after her with care, patience and kindness. She is very happy and settled. My only gripe is the cost. It is too high and has just increased again because my mother's needs have altered. I believe the change in her care is minimal, but the cost has increased by 10%. Unbelievably expensive. I will not be expecting an increase in 2019.

It is such a relief to all of the family to know that she is having 24-hour care and is not in any danger.

All of the care team are amazing and do first-class jobs.

My father has been a resident in Grosvenor House for two years now and both we and he have always been more than happy with the care he receives.

The staff are all professional and attend to his needs in a caring manner, especially after he fell recently and fractured his hip. He particularly likes the food and we are all impressed by the level of entertainment arranged for the residents.

I would like to say a huge thank you, to you and your wife for the support you give the home especially when we have functions, it is greatly appreciated. Without the support we would not be able to provide some of the entertainment we do.

I have only been here since July 2018. On arrival, I was made to feel at home immediately.
Every single member of staff, from management down, has the welfare of the residents at the top of their agenda and on the few occasions when their patience has been tried to the limits, they have always coped with quiet care and dignity.
My room is treated as my own and my untidy way of making my own bed is respected. The room is kept clean by friendly, caring staff. Any odd jobs are carried out quietly and efficiently by the maintenance man. The food is well planned and cooked, presented and served by cheerful staff.
Have I left anyone out? If so I apologise.

One minus point, sometimes bell call not answered very quickly, but they are SO busy.

My mum loves living at Grosvenor House.
She started coming here just for respite to start with then chose to come here permanently.
She loves the staff here and they all seem to love her too.

When mum broke her hip 2 years ago it was the manager at that time and the wonderful staff that got my mum up and walking when she came home from the hospital.

My family can relax knowing that our matriarch is being well cared for 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We could never provide her with this level of care ourselves. Not only my mother but all our family and friends are treated with respect and dignity when we visit or express concerns. We are all extremely appreciative of staff and management.

My father in law has been a resident of Grosvenor House for 20 months now. He is very happy there. He is well looked after and all his needs are met and he never stops singing the praises of meals!
However, what pleases me equally is how he spends less time in his room as he chooses to go to the lounge and enjoy the company of others. I believe this change is due to the infectious enthusiasm that starts right at the top with the wonderful manager and rubs off on everyone - staff, visitors and residents alike! Any excuse for a celebration is taken, whether a Royal Wedding or the local Pirates Day, if there is fun to be had! The staff treat residents more like friends and seem to have the skill to quickly understand their individual personalities.

Therefore gentle, but constant, "persuasion" was used in his case and has resulted in a much better quality of life. He enjoys being taken into the gardens for a change of scenery and some outings further afield.

Hi Linda. May I say it’s an absolute pleasure to have your father-in-law residing with us at Grosvenor House. A lot of his progress is down to him and his confidence to venture out of his room more. Hello, my name is Amanda Newport and I am the Home Manager of Grosvenor House. At Grosvenor House, our aim is to make living in the home a warm, positive experience for all of our residents, families and staff. Together with my team, we ensure that all our residents are treated with respect, dignity and as individuals.

We encourage residents to maximise on their abilities and assist them with their respective needs.

We have an open door approach, even if it is just someone dropping in to see what we are all about.

Corrina SkinnerJob Title:Head ChefJoined: 2017

I have worked at Grosvenor House since 2016 and in the catering industry since I was 17 years old.

In my working career, I have had the opportunity of both integrating in a front-of-house manner with the public and also behind the scenes, preparing and designing original and nutritious menus. Grosvenor House, I am delighted to say, fulfils both of these passions and hence provides me with immense job satisfaction.

I love seeing the residents, and I’m very proud to work here. After 22 years in care, this home is the best by far – small, homely and a place where you can really deliver personalised care.”

My favourite part is looking after the residents. It’s they who pay my wages, not my employer, and they deserve the very best of my care.
