The home meets all my requirements. I am very happy here so far.
Our experience with Place Farm House is extremely positive. They care for my mother wonderfully and she is very happy there. The way they have handled Covid 19 is impeccable, there have been no cases there. The manager is the most professional we have ever come across and all the staff are happy, helpful, competent and a great team.
They have been strict with visitors enabling them to see their loved ones at initially through glass doors outside the building and then with a screen 2 metres from the resident. I know the staff change their clothes into scrubs when they enter the building and wear face coverings continuously. I have been pleased with their handling of Covid-19.
My father-in-law has been at Place Farm House for 9 months. He's had amazing care. He's got a lovely room and is so well looked after. They can't do enough for him. The food is amazing and they will always take great care in doing everything to make him happy.
During these difficult times, they have successfully been able to find a balance which allows us to keep in contact with my father. On his 90th birthday, we were able to deliver a cake and gifts and see and speak to him from the entrance gate while he sat in the driveway at safe distance. He has mixed dementia, but the effects of it do not seem to have changed much, we believe it is their constant review of his medication with his doctor which has a great effect on this. We have been so lucky in finding a place for him here.
Quite satisfactory.
After 3 years (nearly) as a resident at Place Farm House, I consider this to be my home now and will be content to remain here. The staff have become my friends and are supportive and kind and cheerful.
Very friendly and accommodating staff, who take care of his every need and keep us well informed.
Not sure how dad would settle as his first time in a care home but he is very happy and has asked to stay here.
We found Place Farm House ourselves after visiting other local care homes and reviewing CQC reports. The environment and staff are strikingly caring, compassionate and person-centred. We really trusted them based on initial conversations, meetings and the reaction to my partner's mother, who was confused and disorientated. They quickly got a plan in place, got to know her well and activated referrals to relevant services. We felt very well supported and continue to place our trust in this service.
My sister has moved into Place Farm House, as she feels unsafe due to poor health and I cannot fault the care she has been receiving over the last three weeks, my thanks to the team at the home.
It is comfortable and warm and dad is very happy and settled.
I would definitely recommend Place Farm House.
Really friendly and caring staff. Very understanding through a difficult time. Very flexible.
I highly recommend it to everyone.
The room was pleasant with a lovely view over the Downs. Trouble was taken to programme activities and the meals were attractively served.
I was very happy with my stay at Place Farm House for 10 days respite and would recommend them to anyone. The only downside was the room it was small. The staff were all excellent and very helpful. I would definitely go back again if and when it was necessary.
We are very impressed with the quality of care. The staff are interested, kind and helpful and I have every confidence in them. The senior staff are very responsive to any questions one might have. The place is fresh and clean and no smells!
All of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating in every respect.
My father felt really comfortable and relaxed during his stay and I felt assured that he was receiving the best of care.
I would highly recommend this establishment to anybody looking for care facilities.
The staff and management are so good to me. I could not wish for more.
The staff are very friendly and professional.
My mother is extremely hard to please and is happy and settled, which speaks volumes.
The team are wonderfully friendly and kind. They genuinely get on well together and from what I hear from my room they are patient and kind to other residents. The management team are delightful, resulting in a very happy homely atmosphere.

Meet the Team (3)

The family business originally started with the purchase of Abbey Lodge in Hythe in 1996, with Liz running the home with her husband Neil & the family living in the flat above the home. This has given both Liz & Andy a unique depth of experience and insight caring for the elderly, and this is manifest in the running of Place Farm House.
Having since retired and sold Abbey Lodge, Liz takes a keen interest in supporting Andy, who oversees the running of Place Farm House and is the Registered Manager at their sister home, The Shelley. After growing up around Abbey Lodge, Andy sought his own healthcare career, initially training as a Registered Nurse and working in post-operative care. Andy’s wider management experience developed managing NHS contracts and then more latterly as an Account Manager for BMI Healthcare.
Liz & Andy strongly believe in providing a fulfilling and tranquil setting where the elderly can enjoy their lives, in a person-centred way.

Karen has developed Place Farm's service to ensure it provides intimate care to our residents which they can enjoy in a relaxing environment. This is taking a long time to develop and building of a strong and supporting team is an ongoing process. Karen has been integral to ongoing success of Place Farm during the disruptive COVID pandemic as well as the extensive development of the building and grounds between 2022-2025
Longer-term, Karen really enthused about improving Place Farm House with the aim to be an Outstanding rated care home one day.

Mandy & Elaine are an important part of the daily care which is provided to the residents, and oversee the running of the wider care team on shift. Amongst their many roles, they ensure the residents are comfortable & have their medical needs catered for, working closely with GPs & professionals. Mandy & Elaine are also heavily involved in medication management and wound care.
Mandy has worked at Place Farm since 2001 & is part of the fabric of the home. Previously, she was the home's Welfare Champion before moving into her current role. Elaine had previous experience as a foster carer and then in community home care before moving to Place Farm in 2021.
