Dad was originally admitted for 2 weeks' respite. However, from our first viewing, he fell in love with the home and all the staff. So he decided to stay. Dad and all of his family were made to feel welcome whenever we visited. He was very proud to be asked to be a 'buddy' for all new residents and took the role to heart. The activities team were amazing, I don't think Dad's ever taken part in so much: bingo, quizzes, etc. He loved his room and all amenities that Place Farm House offer. Sadfly due to declining health Dad had to leave for a nursing home. We will always be grateful to everyone at PFH for loving Dad as they did.
The care my dad received was 1st class. The staff were all extremely friendly and professional. The home always clean and tidy. Dad was very happy and was very sad to leave.
My mum has been very happy and all staff are extremely helpful and have a great sense of humour. Quality of care excellent. Lovely, bright and spacious with lovely grounds. Food excellent. She is very well looked after.
Place Farm House is a very clean and well-maintained home, the staff are helpful and are very engaging with all of the residents, the activities that are provided daily are great and prevent any boredom, the residents always have a smile on their faces and are up for a chat, the choice of food is exceptional and the quality.
We were recommended Place Farm and we are so pleased we were! My friend has been in the home since Sept and is settling in very well. As she was in a home that wasn't right for her needs. All the staff have been great and kind with helping her to settle in as it was a very stressful and anxious time. The staff have got to know her so well so fast. It's a beautiful home and very homely and all the staff I've met nothing is too much when asked. I hope my friend will have many years living in this lovely home.
I think that everything is excellent, my room is wonderful and very clean always. I am finding it's great to be able to read and speak to the residents and very lovely lot of lovely staff.
I am here for respite care, the home is amazing, the staff are wonderful, and as for the food, it is lovely.
My mum has been at Place Farm House since February 2025. All the staff and management are professional and friendly and we are very happy with all the care that she is getting. What more can I say!
Mum has been resident now for 6 months. I am very happy with her accommodation, care and dietary requirements. She is well cared for by the staff, and the manager is always available to contact.
A massive thank you to the manageress and all her wonderful team for the exceptional level of care they all gave our Mum . We initially arranged respite for our Mum to recover from radiotherapy and she was warmly welcomed by everyone. Our Mum felt at home in the beautiful surroundings and enjoyed all the amazing hospitality and personal attention. Sadly after a couple of weeks we received some devastating news and our Mum's care needs changed almost overnight . The kindness and support our family received from all the staff was exceptional with the reassurance to provide continuance of care for our Mum . Despite not being registered as a nursing home Place Farm House went above and beyond to give our Mum the best possible care in her final days. The manager worked alongside the palliative care team and pulled out all the stops to meet our Mum's care needs which allowed her to remain in her homely surroundings for her end of life care. We are eternally grateful to everyone
I enjoy my stay at the home. Felt well supported whilst not feeling well the time. Staff were excellent. Considerate to my needs, nothing was too much trouble.
I can't recommend Place Farm Care home enough. We had to make a tough decision on finding a care home for my mum while my dad was in hospital for 3 months. From the very start of walking into Place Farm, it wasn't like a care home that I'd seen before, it was more like a 5* hotel with care. The rooms are beautifully decorated & have all the call buttons required & amenities. The staff were/are amazing & very attentive to each residents needs. One of the night carers was one of my mums favourite carers & a big shout out to her on how she was with all the residents. The manageress was/is also so lovely & even when I had a tough time over the whole situation, she was there with tissues, a cup of coffee & listened to my concerns about the situation I was personally going through, such kindness shown in such a stressful situation. All in all a lovely place for any resident & complete peace of mind for relatives, I can't recommend Place Farm highly enough. Thank you to everyone
The team at Place Farm House were exceptional! They catered for my mother in law when she needed respite care. We were able to relax and take care of my father in law, knowing she was in safe hands. The home was so clean and modern, great food and nothing was too much trouble. My mother in law met new friends and was able to take part in activities. We built up a good bond with staff and we were always welcomed with a cup of tea or coffee. Thank you so much to the manager and the team for all your support and understanding!
I was in room 20 and my only criticism is that 1) the shower controls are outside the cubicles and therefore dangerous to turn off the water on ones own, as I was. 2) I was unable to obtain 2 channels on my TC receives, namely 20 + 56.
Mum stayed almost a month for respite care during which time the staff cared for her with amazing kindness and made her feel safe and well cared for, nothing was too much trouble, from the cleaners, kitchen staff, carers and management. As a family we were made very welcome. I can highly recommend Place Farm House.
Place Farm House was the perfect place for my mum convalescence. The kindness exceptional care and comfort was amazing. All facilities were spotless and communal areas were well maintained. There was always a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Mum commented on how wonderful the food was at all times and how accommodating the chef was to her dietary need. A huge thank you to your dedicated team at place farm house I couldn't have wished for any more for mum.
I was well looked after from all staff. Will recommend to anyone I know who is in the same position as me. A big thank you to you all.
I want to tell you that I feel the residential care home is marvellous. The staff are wonderful. They can't do enough for you. The food is wonderful, with a choice of meals. There is a good choice of activities.
Feel so safe and well looked after! Best place ever!

Meet the Team (3)

The family business originally started with the purchase of Abbey Lodge in Hythe in 1996, with Liz running the home with her husband Neil & the family living in the flat above the home. This has given both Liz & Andy a unique depth of experience and insight caring for the elderly, and this is manifest in the running of Place Farm House.
Having since retired and sold Abbey Lodge, Liz takes a keen interest in supporting Andy, who oversees the running of Place Farm House and is the Registered Manager at their sister home, The Shelley. After growing up around Abbey Lodge, Andy sought his own healthcare career, initially training as a Registered Nurse and working in post-operative care. Andy’s wider management experience developed managing NHS contracts and then more latterly as an Account Manager for BMI Healthcare.
Liz & Andy strongly believe in providing a fulfilling and tranquil setting where the elderly can enjoy their lives, in a person-centred way.

Karen has developed Place Farm's service to ensure it provides intimate care to our residents which they can enjoy in a relaxing environment. This is taking a long time to develop and building of a strong and supporting team is an ongoing process. Karen has been integral to ongoing success of Place Farm during the disruptive COVID pandemic as well as the extensive development of the building and grounds between 2022-2025
Longer-term, Karen really enthused about improving Place Farm House with the aim to be an Outstanding rated care home one day.

Mandy & Elaine are an important part of the daily care which is provided to the residents, and oversee the running of the wider care team on shift. Amongst their many roles, they ensure the residents are comfortable & have their medical needs catered for, working closely with GPs & professionals. Mandy & Elaine are also heavily involved in medication management and wound care.
Mandy has worked at Place Farm since 2001 & is part of the fabric of the home. Previously, she was the home's Welfare Champion before moving into her current role. Elaine had previous experience as a foster carer and then in community home care before moving to Place Farm in 2021.
