Place Farm House made my mother feel happy and secure. The staff are a real team, led by an excellent manager. They showed such love and compassion for my mother and went out of their way to make sure she was happy and reassured, even when she was confused and in pain from leg ulcers.
My 95 year old mum has been cared for at Place Farm House for the last year. We've been very impressed by the kindness and the quality of personal care from all the staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and the organisation is good. The food is good and it's a nice place to visit. Our thanks go to the manager and staff.
My mother has stayed at Place Farm House as a resident for respite and also for day care. She has been so happy and content that I have put her name down for longer-term care. The place in extremely well organised and managed. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. They go out of their way to meet the individual needs of the residents. Place Far House has a culture of respect and happiness. I couldn't thank them enough.
Very friendly and helpful. Always looking after me.
Dad went to Place Farm initially for respite in December and stayed until March when he had to go to the hospital,
Having lived in the same house for 60 years we were a little apprehensive as to how Dad would react to the change of environment.
We didn't need to worry as all the team at Place Farm were absolutely fantastic, as Dad had the care and attention required and the communication with us was superb.
I cannot recommend Place Farm highly enough.
Great, helpful staff who answer the phone. Easy-going, nice atmosphere.
As a family, we felt great comfort in knowing our mum was being cared for so well. The staff at Place Farm Housetreated Mum with dignity and kindness during her stay. The care she received was excellent and all of her needs were met. Nothing was too much trouble and during our visits we were made to feel at home. Mum clearly enjoyed her stay at Place Farm House. We couldn't have asked for more. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Unexpectedly pleasant staff, very helpful in many ways. Comfortable accommodation with a lot of assistance to again residents of whom I am one.
All the staff are very welcoming and highly attentive to the needs of my mother. They have good humour with residents, making it feel homely but still respectful. All requests are dealt with in a timely manner and issues are communicated to me appropriately.
Super home - really friendly staff. Lovely, bright room. Great food and lots of it! Dad is very content and happy.
The staff are amazing, they take great care of the residents and the visitors are made to feel very welcome. It's a lovely, friendly and caring home.
The house is kept very clean and tidy and the atmosphere is homely, friendly and relaxed. The staff are excellent, warm and helpful. One staff member says it all: she got fed up with the impersonal business model of larger care homes, joined the team here and says "It's the best move I've ever made". The whole place feels like a large family. And the care our friend has received has been second to none - present and respectful but not intrusive. Thank you, everyone.
Everything is fine and the staff are lovely.
My mother has been in Place Farm House for just over six weeks after a very long stay in hospital. The care team have been so welcoming and reassuring. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The house is very bright and cheery and there are lots of activities. The garden is excellent for sitting out in the sunshine. We're very pleased with our choice for Mum.
Extremely helpful manager and kind staff. Great thought taken over what makes residents feel comfortable. The difference for my uncle between being at home in a dilapidated house by himself to being well cared for and properly looked after. Since I live far away like relatives portal has been incredibly helpful. My uncle has had his dignity returned to him and we worry no more!
I found the home to have a very happy atmosphere, it was well run and the staff caring and helpful. The food was home-cooked with a good variety and my dietary requirements were accommodated.
Staff are so nice cannot do enough for you nothing is too much trouble. Always make you welcome they also got my mum to join in with things and mix with everyone something she has not done for a long time so nice to see her happy. Put on weight the first 4 days she was in there said food was lovely we could not have picked anything better.
The staff at the have made us always feel welcome, the home was small and friendly and could give one to one support to my mother in the little time, she was there. It was a shame she had a fall and then went downhill very quickly. I would recommend your home to anyone looking for a care home you are really giving a good service.
My mother joined Place Farm House in December 2020 for respite care while her shoulder healed. Sadly she contracted Covid-19 on January 1st and died on January 20th. Whilst this was devastating for our family, I cannot speak highly enough of the personal care given to her during her stay and the empathetic way staff engaged with us. The staff treated her with dignity and provided over and above the personal care and attention expected, almost as if she was a member of their own family: her carers in particular. During lockdown, we were able to use Facetime and telephone to communicate regularly and were kept particularly well informed. As she became progressively unwell, we were consulted daily about her wellbeing and her wishes, the GP was contacted and community nurses visited. The staff helped us to communicate via Facetime the day before she died and enabled me to sit with her in full PPE the night of her death. All staff were highly professional and compassionate.
Been here three years and am looked after very well. No complaints. Food is very good. Prefer this to hospital.

The family business originally started with the purchase of Abbey Lodge in Hythe in 1996, with Liz running the home with her husband Neil & the family living in the flat above the home. This has given both Liz & Andy a unique depth of experience and insight caring for the elderly, and this is manifest in the running of Place Farm House.
Having since retired and sold Abbey Lodge, Liz takes a keen interest in supporting Andy, who oversees the running of Place Farm House and is the Registered Manager at their sister home, The Shelley. After growing up around Abbey Lodge, Andy sought his own healthcare career, initially training as a Registered Nurse and working in post-operative care. Andy’s wider management experience developed managing NHS contracts and then more latterly as an Account Manager for BMI Healthcare.
Liz & Andy strongly believe in providing a fulfilling and tranquil setting where the elderly can enjoy their lives, in a person-centred way.

Karen has developed Place Farm's service to ensure it provides intimate care to our residents which they can enjoy in a relaxing environment. This is taking a long time to develop and building of a strong and supporting team is an ongoing process. Karen has been integral to ongoing success of Place Farm during the disruptive COVID pandemic as well as the extensive development of the building and grounds between 2022-2025
Longer-term, Karen really enthused about improving Place Farm House with the aim to be an Outstanding rated care home one day.

Mandy & Elaine are an important part of the daily care which is provided to the residents, and oversee the running of the wider care team on shift. Amongst their many roles, they ensure the residents are comfortable & have their medical needs catered for, working closely with GPs & professionals. Mandy & Elaine are also heavily involved in medication management and wound care.
Mandy has worked at Place Farm since 2001 & is part of the fabric of the home. Previously, she was the home's Welfare Champion before moving into her current role. Elaine had previous experience as a foster carer and then in community home care before moving to Place Farm in 2021.
