The Cobham Care philosophy is that every resident is an individual - individuals’ needs change and therefore need to be continually addressed. To achieve this at Avon Manor, information about a resident’s life and loved ones is gathered from relatives soon after admission.
This allows the carers to understand the individual better and treat them with greater sensitivity and understanding. They pride themselves on the friendly, caring and homely atmosphere they provide where the residents are encouraged to lead an active, dignified and independent life.
Avon Manor employs over 30 care staff who are selected for their kindness, patience and their ability to care for people with Dementia. All staff are provided with training in first aid, manual handling, understanding Dementia, safeguarding vulnerable adults and other relevant subjects.
28 residents are accommodated in single rooms across three floors - many of which have en-suite facilities. Whilst every room is fully furnished, Avon Manor is pleased to accommodate any personal belongings a resident may wish to bring. All of the living areas are comfortably furnished, especially the three ground floor lounges - one of which is specifically for those seeking peace.

My grandma has been here since 2021 and I think she's well cared for by the staff and lives the activities that take place especially Remembrance Day as she loves all the poppies. She's known by all of the staff as the resident poppy queen.

I visit my friend Janet on a regular basis and Im always impressed by the level of care & attention the staff show. my friend has flourished in the time spent there, residents are stimulated + staff seem to know each resident well ie. favourite songs, past hobbies. All events are celebrated, birthdays, calendar occasions ie. pancake day, Easter, VE day to name just a few. The rooms are always spotless and all staff are friendly and approachable. Any video evidence is used for intended purposes and then destroyed in line with our policy. Our team work closely with Healthcare Professionals to ensure accurate reporting of a residents needs. We are consistently reviewed as excellent, which is evidenced by many positive reviews. Additionally, the residents husband and LPA thanked us for the wonderful care given to his wife and said that knowing that she was in such kind, capable hands bought the family a huge amount of peace mind, and that it wasn't just the professional support but also the genuine warmth and small moments of connection we all shared with her that meant the most. We encourage the reviewer to contact management as we are committed to transparent and compassionate care and are always willing to investigate concerns.

Lisa regularly attends conferences and seminars to keep abreast of the changing approaches to Dementia and works with the outside community to encourage interest in care, as a career option for school leavers.
