Avon Manor is part of the Cobham Care Group whose first home, Avon House, was one of the first care homes in the area to specialise in Dementia Care. Avon Manor is a detached Victorian mansion situated in a pleasant and quiet residential area with adjacent parking and easy access to public transport. It is also only a short walk to Worthing town centre and the seafront.

The Cobham Care philosophy is that every resident is an individual - individuals’ needs change and therefore need to be continually addressed. In order to achieve this at Avon Manor, information about a resident’s life and loved ones is gathered from relatives soon after admission. This allows the carers to better understand the individual and treat them with a greater degree of sensitivity and understanding. They pride themselves on the friendly, caring and homely atmosphere they provide. Where the residents are encouraged to lead an active, dignified and independent life.

Avon Manor employs 30 care staff who are selected for their kindness, patience and their ability to care for people with dementia. All staff are provided with training in first aid, manual handling, understanding dementia, safeguarding vulnerable adults and other relevant subjects.

28 residents are accommodated in single rooms across three floors - many of which have en-suite facilities. Whilst every room is fully furnished, Avon Manor are pleased to accommodate any personal belongings a resident may wish to bring. All of the living areas are comfortably furnished, especially the three ground floor lounges - one of which is specifically for those seeking peace and quiet.

Avon Manor Care Home is the best home I could have chosen for my precious mum. They look after the residents so well and treat them all like a member of their own family. I am always welcomed with smiles from everyone and I join in all the many activities they offer.
All residents are treated with
the respect they deserve and their life is filled with laughter and love. Mum is happy well cared for and loved.

Avon Manor Care Home is the most amazing place you could possibly hope to trust with the care of you’re loved one. Avon Manor is a real home in the true sense of what home means. All the staff at Avon Manor really care about the residents. There is constant interaction, activities and love at Avon Manor.

There is no doubt Avon Manor Care Home is exceptional.
The love and care that all the staff shows to all its residents goes over and beyond.
Our auntie, since losing her husband, was alone at home. She did not like the agency staff coming in, she was neglecting herself, thought she only needed her
own company and was living a very sad life.
Getting Auntie into a home was difficult but on my last visit, she thanked me for putting her in Avon Manor as she was so happy.
She always looks amazing, better than I have ever seen her from her nails being painted and hair done. She always looks clean and fresh.
But most of all, what I see is the entertainment the home puts on and the thought that the staff put into it. Entertainment for all and then they look at what individuals may like, something from their past or a birthday to celebrate.
I don’t get to see Auntie as much as I would like but it is very reassuring seeing regular updates on social media which gives me total reassurance.

We chose Avon Manor Care Home exactly one year ago for my father who was suffering with dementia and bed blocking in hospital. We looked at a few dementia care homes and met representatives who showed us around a friendly, welcoming family home. Easy choice. My father was 90 last Sunday and what a party
we had. A 15-minute video of Dad's first year, singing, dancing, birthday cake and doughnuts, Dad's favourite. I think the standout thing was management came in on Sunday, their day off, and made the party special.

Placing my dad in a care home was the hardest decision of my life but I was recommended Avon Manor Care Home by some friends of mine and I am so very grateful for their encouragement. From my first view of the home, the smiles and joy on the faces of the residents and staff are infectious. The ratio
of residents to staff is far higher than any other home. I enquired with. I love how they listen and care about every resident, remembering who they were and what they love, the level of mental and physical activities is second to none. I could write a book about how incredible every single member of staff is and my dad is just happy and if he's happy then I'm happy.

My mother moved into Avon Manor after her dementia deteriorated due to Covid. I am so impressed with the management and all the staff. They provide all Mum’s needs, and she is stimulated and entertained. They arrange for musicians, dancers and other entertainers to come in which the residents love.
They are very creative and always have a project on the go where they involve as many residents as possible.
When I visit Mum, everyone is so friendly, and the residents are so happy and able to go and do as they please (within reason). I certainly feel we struck lucky as it has such a lovely family atmosphere, and nothing is any trouble.
The care given is amazing, and the Manor is so clean. The food is wonderful and well presented.
Now that Covid restrictions are easier, families and friends are welcome to join in parties and events which have been so well organised and great fun.
Thank you all at Avon Manor; you are all super stars.

My mother in law was always very well looked after. She was always clean and tidy. Her room was clean and tidy. She was happy and we felt loved by the carers. There was always plenty of food and some great entertainment. I always recommend and praise Avon Manor to anyone who wants to listen.

Mum has Alzheimer’s Disease and it was the hardest decision ever for her to live in a care home, never did we ever think we would not care for her ourselves particularly when I am a Nurse. She’s been at Avon Manor now for almost two years and is so happy and so are we. Myself and my sister are now daughters
again and not mum's carer. The staff at Avon Manor are amazing and there is just so much activity every day to meet everyone’s unique needs. Quite honestly, mum has a better social life than many of us! Going into Avon Manor is like going into another family member's home. It’s so endearing how well the residents get along together and how attentive the staff are. The residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect, and the home is theirs. The home is welcoming as soon as you enter the front door, and as a relative, you feel and gain immediate trust and security. All staff from the domestic staff, the kitchen, the care staff and managers really are amazing. Thank you.

Mum was diagnosed with vascular dementia and Alzheimers a while ago and used to live alone until lockdown made her housebound. Unfortunately, this caused a crisis in her dementia and she became very confused and agitated. Luckily Avon Manor came to the rescue with a room and within a couple of weeks,
Mum was up and about and more like herself! The activities the staff do with the residents are so imaginative and involving everyone. The staff are just so caring and always polite and smiling and in return, the residents always seem to be having fun and enjoying life again! Love you all and thank you!

Mum has been at Avon Manor for almost 2 years - within weeks of arriving Mum gained much-needed weight and had become very settled. There is room throughout the ground floor for residents to wander but also plenty of seating areas - great for families to sit privately should they choose. The residents
are kept busy with plenty of activities and 1-2-1 time. Individual needs are catered for e.g Mum can look after a therapy doll if she could do with some relaxation. The home has great links with the local GP and any health issues are addressed immediately. As a family we would like to thank every single employee of Avon Manor, it is a huge thing for us to entrust Mum into your care but we are able to do so with confidence due to your outstanding efforts.

Mum spent two and a half years at Avon Manor Care Home and we were extremely pleased that we chose the Home. She was so well looked after by all of the staff and the Manager is outstanding. It didn't take long for mum to settle into the Home and she started eating properly again and was very happy there.
There is a lovely atmosphere and lots of activities for the residents. Sadly mum passed away at Avon Manor but the end of life care from the staff was so kind and caring.

Our dear friend moved into Avon Manor 5 years ago at the relatively young age of 63 years. From the moment we first visited, we fell in love with the staff and the way all the residents are treated. We cannot speak highly enough of the pure dedication and total kindness here and we are so blessed that

My mum has been a resident for three years now. I initially chose this home for her after viewing many in the area as the manager was so lovely, meals are cooked freshly, there are three lounges so plenty of room for the residents and for visiting, there are resident pets which I knew my mum would love
as her own, there are regular activities for the residents and the home is not overly large.
Over the years the manager, who is simply amazing (always going above and beyond her role for her residents and their families, please never leave) and all of the staff (also amazing and so hardworking and selfless) have loved my mum, treated her as if she was family and have looked after her so well.
The fact that my mum developed Dementia at such a young age is devastating but I feel reassured that she is in such safe hands with people who strive to keep her happy and as healthy as she can be.
I would recommend this home to anyone and I’m so thankful to all of the staff for everything they do.
