Avon Manor is part of the Cobham Care Group whose first home, Avon House, was one of the first care homes in the area to specialise in Dementia Care. Avon Manor is a detached Victorian mansion situated in a pleasant and quiet residential area with adjacent parking and easy access to public transport. It is also only a short walk to Worthing town centre and the seafront.

The Cobham Care philosophy is that every resident is an individual - individuals’ needs change and therefore need to be continually addressed. In order to achieve this at Avon Manor, information about a resident’s life and loved ones is gathered from relatives soon after admission. This allows the carers to better understand the individual and treat them with a greater degree of sensitivity and understanding. They pride themselves on the friendly, caring and homely atmosphere they provide. Where the residents are encouraged to lead an active, dignified and independent life.

Avon Manor employs 30 care staff who are selected for their kindness, patience and their ability to care for people with dementia. All staff are provided with training in first aid, manual handling, understanding dementia, safeguarding vulnerable adults and other relevant subjects.

28 residents are accommodated in single rooms across three floors - many of which have en-suite facilities. Whilst every room is fully furnished, Avon Manor are pleased to accommodate any personal belongings a resident may wish to bring. All of the living areas are comfortably furnished, especially the three ground floor lounges - one of which is specifically for those seeking peace and quiet.

My husband has been living at Avon Manor for one year and is very happy there. He takes part in all the activities and enjoys them.
His birthday party was enjoyable and the sandwiches and cakes were very special.

During November my loved one stayed at this wonderful home away from home for respite care. With learning disabilities and dementia, my family is overprotective with her care but all our reservations were quickly quashed upon seeing this wonderful care home. While she is typically reluctant to receive
help from others we were pleased to see her eagerly awaiting the carer's assistance. During her stay, she participated in each of their activities and even enjoyed a Chinese takeaway on her last night. The home kept us updated throughout her stay and it was wonderful to see her enjoying herself on the Fthe social media platform. She enjoyed herself so much that it was difficult for her to say goodbye to the incredible staff. I would highly recommend this care home and we will continue to return Avon for our loved ones' respite care needs.

The feeling and atmosphere at Avon Manor is informal and friendly - just as it would be at home. Every single staff member we came into contact with was friendly and chatty. There’s also a high ratio of staff to residents so there’s always someone on hand should you need them. The smiling faces say

My father originally went to Avon Manor for two weeks respite, but whilst there we realised that he needed full-time care. I cannot thank the staff enough for the love and care they gave to him, he was laughing and joking for the first time in years since my mum passed away. There were always activities
happening and social events, I only wish I had gotten my father there sooner. All the staff and management have my utmost respect for what they do every day.

The manager was incredibly helpful in getting Mum into Avon Manor at short notice over Christmas 2023. She appreciated the urgency of the situation and did an assessment and admission on the same day.
Mum has flourished in Avon Manor ever since and has without doubt become the best person she can
be, given her Alzheimer's diagnosis and the stage she is at. We look forward to visiting daily, and we are always made very welcome. It is clear that all residents at Avon Manor are cared for with expertise, compassion and kindness.

My father-in-law is very well looked after at Avon Manor. Give us all peace of mind. The staff are brilliant - very caring. The food is good; he eats everything put in front of him. Activities are constantly going on there, keeping him happy and motivated.

Since becoming a resident of Avon Manor 16 months ago, Mum has thrived. It took her a while to adjust to her new surroundings but with the abundant care and love from all the staff, Avon Manor is now her home and Mum is very settled and happier than she's been in a long time.
Whenever I visit Mum,
the residents are engaged in an activity, singing, playing games or being entertained by fabulous visiting entertainers. There's always an Avon project on the go involving all the residents often culminating in beautiful displays outside the home. Every day I can see a post on social media showing photos of the residents involved in their activities and I can see Mum looking well and laughing. It is so reassuring to be able to see pictures of Mum since I'm not able to visit her every day. Avon Manor is a wonderful care home and I'm so grateful they had a place for Mum when she needed it.

After spending just over two years at Avon Manor, Mum passed away peacefully but with dignity in March. She is greatly missed.
During her time at the Manor we felt Mum was loved and very cared for. She wasn't the easiest person to give care to and the bonds she built up with staff made it better for
her. There was one person in particular who had an amazing bond with Mum, from her first to her last day in the Manor, and she definitely knows how special that was for us and the family.
Although she didn't always participate, the daily activities on offer were many and varied and were encouraged and done in her room if she wasn't willing or able to leave her room that day.
Staff have continued to support us after our loss and we have continued to support Avon Manor with fundraising events.
Mum was living with my wife and I before we had to make the hardest decision of all, to place Mum in a care home to meet her increasing needs. Avon Manor was the right place for Mum. Thank you to all staff.

My mum has been at Avon Manor Care Home for over three years and is very happy there. The staff are amazing and always go above and beyond to keep the residents happy, comfortable and entertained. The staff are genuinely friendly and caring - lovely. Most of the staff have been there for years and they
really care about the residents and want the best for them. The staff treat my mum with kindness, care and respect. They are so accommodating and patient, always doing their utmost to make sure that Mum is happy.
A regular programme of activities is a key part of Avon Manor’s success. They have activities that include crafts, poetry, indoor skittles and regular exercises. The staff work hard to encourage residents to engage in group sessions as much as possible, helping the residents to stay active and have a positive focus.

Choosing Avon Manor to look after Dad has been the best decision ever. He has genuinely found a new lease of life and in the social media photos looks at least 10 years younger. He is kept busy every day and loves taking part in all the activities.

My mother-in-law is so happy at Avon Manor. It was the best thing that could have happened to her as she was not coping living alone. She describes everyone there, residents and staff, as her friends. She has choices, she has plenty of quality stimulation and she definitely has fun. The care is excellent.

The home is a happy place to be. From activities and singing to painting and pedicures, I am delighted that we found Avon Manor. There is a high staff-to-resident ratio, staff are long-term employees who really get to know their residents. We are so lucky to have Mum in such a lovely place.

All the staff at Avon Manor Care Home are incredible. Choosing a home for my mum was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make but from the moment she moved in, we couldn’t have been happier with the loving care and attention she has received. Avon Manor is everything you would wish and hope a care home to be. They have activities going on all the time and they actually listen to the residents and what they would like to see and do, even with residents that are more bed-bound they are still involved and not left out. They’re always more than
happy to answer any questions or worries you may have at any time. The home is very much your loved ones home and they really encourage this and try to keep whatever they were doing at home the same where possible. The carers are all so friendly and helpful. Honestly a fantastic home and I’m so grateful my Nana is there as I no longer have to worry about her.

Avon Manor is the most wonderful care home, the care from all the staff is second to none, it is truly like a family and I could not wish for any more for my Dad.
Every member of staff is kind, welcoming, supportive and the manager has created a wonderful environment for the residents.
Everyone is
smiling, entertained, well looked after and it is really personal to every resident.
I feel all of my dad's needs are met and he is loved and cared for.
He has a quality of life again which had deteriorated at home due to his Alzheimer's.
He is treated with respect and kindness and the manager and staff always go over and above, particularly supportive when Dad was in hospital visiting him and ensuring he came home as soon as ready, he has made an excellent recovery in their care.
It’s a wonderful place to be able to visit as family also, always friendly and I never leave without a smile on my face.
It’s also fantastic that they post on social media so family who are not local can stay connected to Dad.

Avon Manor was the best decision we made four and a half years ago when we needed to find a care home for my mum. She is still there now, being kindly cared for by such wonderful staff. She is safe and I can relax in the knowledge that my mum is very happy.
