My dad has stayed at Dovecote View before and as before everything was wonderful, not just for Dad but for the family visiting him. Dad himself has said he loved staying there. All the staff looked after him so well as if he was one of their family. And we could not have asked for any better than that.

There is nothing about Dovecote View or their staff that we don't find as EXCELLENT! My sister-in-law has, unfortunately, needed more and more care in the year or so since she's been in the home and they have completely stepped up in every way to help her.

It very much has a 'family feel' about the place and is the closest it can be to one's own home, but with lovely furniture and paintings making it feel like an up-market hotel.

We have total faith in the staff and don't believe that she could receive better care elsewhere.

Mum has been with Dovecote View for 14 months and we couldn't be happier. It's great to know she is so well looked after by ALL the staff and gives us piece of mind when leaving to know she is in such good hands. We've just left the wonderful Easter Party today and it was such a joy to see Mum with a big smile on her face, chair dancing and the other residents enjoying themselves. The Staff really do go the extra mile, place is spotless, food is amazing and care is second to none. We're made to feel like family. I'd give 6 stars if I could.

My husband John was admitted to Dovecote View in April 2025 from hospital having broken his wrist. John is suffering from skin cancer on his scalp together with prostrate cancer and also dementia. All the staff are so caring and professional and they deserve the highest of accolades. The care staff are outstanding and their professionalism stems from the brilliant office personnel right down to all the wonderful immaculate cleaning staff. Catering is of such a high hotel order certainly the care home far exceeds the top score of 10.

The staff always treat my dad with kindness, consideration and respect. The communication which I receive from the care home is always prompt and accurate. My dad has made friends with some of the other residents and the care home always offers a good range of events and activities. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and I know that I have made the best choice with Dovecote view care home.

Dovecote is a wonderful care home. The staff are, without exception, kind and compassionate, and respond to residents in a personal way, providing individualised care.

My Mum moved to Dovecote a couple of months ago and I have visited regularly since. I am always impressed by the kindness of everyone when I visit. My Mum has become very fond of the carers, kitchen staff and maintenance team. There is a consistent staff group who are clearly happy at work, well led and well trained. There are a variety of activities, for those who wish to take part, which residents enjoy. Mum's room is welcoming and always spotless. The communal areas are also well maintained, comfortable and have a lovely homely feel.

Moving Mum into 24 hour care was a difficult decision, but the Dovecote team have made it so much easier for us all. I totally trust the staff and know that my Mum is well looked after.

Thank you Dovecote for the four and a half years that my mother spent at your home. When she arrived, mums health and well being were totally transformed giving her a new lease of life. You didn't just care for her, you cared about her.
Your kindness, dedication and patience made her happy and contented.
All staff went above and beyond the normal level of care to ensure she felt safe, secure and wanted.
The kitchen team would make birthday cakes for the residents and put on fantastic spreads for special occasions.
Staff would provide christmas presents and easter eggs for the residents ensuring no one would miss out.
The home would inform me straight away if there were any changes in mums medication or wellbeing. Nothing was overlooked or too much trouble .
I could not have wished for a better place than Dovecote View for mum.

For this, I express my deepest gratitude to everyone employed at this wonderful home from management to domestic staff. You deserve 5 stars. Thank you again

Overall Experience

As a frequent visitor to Dovecote over several weeks, I was impressed with all that I saw and experienced during my visits. Staff appeared happy and fully engaged with residents. The individual needs and interests are well addressed. In addition, there are group activities for those who choose to participate. There is entertainment on a regular basis with no expectation to participate, although residents seem to enjoy it. Visitors are made to feel welcome and are free to join in with anything going on within the home. The home appeared to run smoothly and efficiently, and has a very homely atmosphere. It is maintained to a high standard, and the gardens are a particularly attractive feature. Residents' individual dietary needs appeared well met, and there is a varied menu that is of a very good standard. The staff, without exception, present as very well trained, professional and caring. They do all that is possible to create a safe and happy environment for all residents, where nothing is too much trouble.

Professional but like a family too. When visiting a couple of days ago I looked across the car park at the minibus taking residents on a trip. One lady looking through the minibus window smiled and waved at me and I waved back and then they were all smiling and waving at me as the minibus left. I had a similar experience in a communal area later on when two or three residents smilingly remarked that they liked my dress and we started chatting together. There is a relaxed atmosphere of happy optimism which I think is a result of consistently gentle and empathetic care and of the staff respecting residents and making the effort to get to know them to bring out the best in them. The residents are well cared for by staff whom they trust and they are happy and confident. Dovecote View is a genuinely kind and compassionate care home. Thank you.

Talisa Challis
Talisa ChallisJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 2008
Since joining Dovecote View in 2008, I have progressed through the company to the role of Registered Manager, and have now completed my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, and a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management.

I have been in the post as the Home Manager since 2012, and thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my role. I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the home and ensuring our residents receive person-centred, quality care.

I am very lucky to have such a hard-working, caring team around me for support, and I am lucky to have worked alongside some of my colleagues for many years.

I am passionate about giving residents the best quality care, and I believe everyone should be cared for as if they are an extension of their own family, if it's not good enough for your own Mum or Gran, then it's not good enough! We provide personal care for up to 33 residents, and the Home is very much a family-orientated, friendly 'Home from Home'. There are not many job roles where you can say you love your job, but I feel very fortunate to have progressed to a role that I love.
