I went to Dovecote to spend the special coronation lunch with my uncle. It was joyous, it is so lovely and reassuring for me, as my uncle's deputy, trustee and one of his surviving family that he is such an integral part of a loving family that cares for him and enjoys having him there. Seeing the interaction between the staff and my uncle is wonderful. I felt reassured and rejuvenated!

It is such a difficult time when trying to find residential care for your family. I looked at several places, however, Dovecote View was in a different league. The staff team are wonderful and many have been with Dovecote for years. I can walk in and ask any member of staff how my father is and they can instantly tell me all about his day. They build fabulous relationships with residents and know every resident really well, they are compassionate on difficult days and fun and encouraging on good days. There is person-centred care at the heart of this dedicated hard working team. They work hard to establish good relationships with families and create an opportunity to work collaboratively and support families and residents with every aspect of care.

Having learned through a difficult previous placement what bad care looks like, I recognise and appreciate the safe compassionate approach at Dovecote. My father has a safe and happy home and I feel part of the Dovecote Community.

Dovecote View were really responsive to taking my father in on a respite basis and have been outstanding at caring for him over the last four weeks. I am only moving him as my mother wants to live with him in a different home; otherwise, I would be really happy to leave him at Dovecote View. The management and staff have been brilliant. Thank you!

The staff and food and drink should get a 'plus' star rating, they deserve it. They should get a £50.00 cash bonus for all their hard work.

Mum became a resident after hospital respite care in February 2021. From the start, the standard of care has been excellent. All the staff were friendly and compassionate. Arrangments of additional services, nurses, chiropodist, GP visits, hairdresser was taken care of. Relatives were always kept up to date and communication has been very good. Our family are glad that Mum spent her last months here and we know she was happy. The home did everything we could ask of them and more. We would have no hesitation in recommending them.

When visiting my aunt, the home always had a peaceful but cheery, warm atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering a refreshment. My aunt was happy, settled and well cared for. The staff always knew exactly how she was and gave an overview of how she was. There were regular outings for residents. A staff member supported my aunt at a family wedding so she could attend.

When I rang to see how my aunt was they would pass the phone to her for a chat. It’s a lovely, homely place with lovely staff.

My mother in law has been a resident of Dovecote View for a number of years until her death just before Christmas 2019, throughout the years she has been a resident she had first-class care from all the staff just like a 5-star hotel, the food was of a very high standard and catered for all persons. She was a diabetic so her meal intakes catered for this. All of the care and attention she received no doubt prolonged her life. The family would like to thank all of the staff and manageress for looking after her, we would personally recommend this care home for anyone considering a relative who needs this type of care.

During the two years, my sister has been a resident at Dovecote View I've always found the staff to be caring, competent and helpful.

As far as I can ascertain my sister is being cared for well and her needs are being adequately met.

I have been in this care home for almost a year. The staff are mostly excellent. The food is first class, with a very good choice of meals. Activities are good and cater for most residents. Also, there are trips two or three times a month for residents who care to go. Overall I would give 95/100.

The home is very welcoming, warm and clean. All the staff are caring and friendly. My mother is mostly happy and although is sometimes confused, she likes the company. I wish there were more "hands-on" activities such as cards, art and crafty things.

All the well-trained staff are friendly and treat all residents with dignity and respect. Relatives are always greeted with a smile and a chat and staff are always available to discuss any aspects of their relative's care, be it personal, medical or dietary. Menu choices are wide and varied. All food is prepared and cooked on site by a very knowledgeable team, with all dietary needs catered for. Activities are wide and varied, including outings and visits from a local primary school. A happy and caring atmosphere is always apparent, a real home from home. Sadly my Mum passed away in December but had spent 19 happy months at Dovecote.

I think this home is outstanding, a really lovely home, with wonderfully attentive staff and I would definitely recommend this home to other people. My friend is very happy here and speaks so highly of all the staff looking after her. The food has been very good whenever I have attended an event and the welcome I get is always very friendly.

Mum has been in Dovecote View for more than a year. The staff are attentive, caring, polite and the manager is an example to us all of impeccable manners and patience. The building is being updated but is modern, bright and spotlessly clean. The managers family are employed at the home which makes for a cosy family atmosphere. Any concerns we have had have been dealt with sensitively and with every care for mums happiness. Mums health has transformed since she has been there. I would recommend this home it is outstanding.

Moving from one care home to another is never good for somebody with dementia but the 'homely' feeling of Dovecote View has made that transition easier for Mum.

The home is comfortable and the staff kind and considerate. The staff keep us well informed and we feel happy knowing she is warm and well cared for. Thank you to all the staff and managers.

Lovely staff and beautiful grounds. My friend is happy, healthy and well looked after. Staff go above and beyond and are really welcoming.

I am impressed with the whole home; from the activities that I have seen going on when visiting, to the friendly staff, and approachable manager. I have even joked about putting my name down on the waiting list!

I have visited a lot of care homes and Dovecote View is by far the best I have seen.

The building sits in very pleasant surroundings and is light, well maintained and spotlessly clean. It is currently undergoing building work, not to cram more residents in, as I expect many care homes would but to make it a better place in which to live.

This is a very well managed care home, where the staff are competent and kind, carrying out their varied (and, let's face it, sometimes challenging) roles with compassion, patience and good humour. Dovecote View is a care home which actually does care and I highly recommend it.

Talisa Challis
Talisa ChallisJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 2008
Since joining Dovecote View in 2008, I have progressed through the company to the role of Registered Manager, and have now completed my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, and a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management.

I have been in the post as the Home Manager since 2012, and thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my role. I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the home and ensuring our residents receive person-centred, quality care.

I am very lucky to have such a hard-working, caring team around me for support, and I am lucky to have worked alongside some of my colleagues for many years.

I am passionate about giving residents the best quality care, and I believe everyone should be cared for as if they are an extension of their own family, if it's not good enough for your own Mum or Gran, then it's not good enough! We provide personal care for up to 33 residents, and the Home is very much a family-orientated, friendly 'Home from Home'. There are not many job roles where you can say you love your job, but I feel very fortunate to have progressed to a role that I love.
