Although my mother's stay was short, she was shown the utmost kindness and care. The home is clean, tidy and the atmosphere welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Her room was ideal, and definitely represented excellent value for money. We also appreciated the updates and very good communication regarding health concerns, however minor.

The Dovecote provided my grandmother with a true 'home'. From an outstanding level of care, to excellent facilities, the care home always treated my grandmother with compassion and respect. The staff are what makes this home exceptional.

I am really happy that my Grandmother is here and that she is safe and well cared for. It is a lovely home, spotlessly clean with a cosy feel. The staff are professional, helpful and kind and have not only looked after my grandmother but my mother, also, when she visits.

My mother moved to Dovecote View in July, she has vascular dementia. The care and attention she has/is receiving is excellent. The patience and understanding by all the staff of her illness is commendable. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home. The range of daily activities and outside trips are well thought out.

It's quite simple. They are excellent. The team looks after my grandfather's requirements, both mental and physical and they are in regular contact with me. The home is clean, welcoming and professionally run. Most important of all, my grandfather is happy.

My mother has been at Dovecote View for 9 months. She settled in very quickly and is very happy. The staff are excellent, very caring and nothing is too much trouble. She enjoys the entertainment and the outings on the mini bus.

Overall Experience

My mother was a resident of Dovecote view for 5 and a half years before her death there in October. Over that time her mental and physical health declined steadily. I found the staff to be very caring to my mother's welfare and made many extra efforts to accommodate her declining health. She was always clean, well dressed and well fed. I was always impressed with how much the staff cared for my mother and how much time they devoted to her. Living in America, I was never worried about my mother's care which was a huge relief to me.

Reply from Talisa Challis, Manager at Dovecote View

It was an absolute pleasure to care for Mum for 5 and a half years, and we feel very lucky to have done so for so long.

Talisa Challis
Talisa ChallisJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 2008
Since joining Dovecote View in 2008, I have progressed through the company to the role of Registered Manager, and have now completed my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, and a Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management.

I have been in the post as the Home Manager since 2012, and thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my role. I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the home and ensuring our residents receive person-centred, quality care.

I am very lucky to have such a hard-working, caring team around me for support, and I am lucky to have worked alongside some of my colleagues for many years.

I am passionate about giving residents the best quality care, and I believe everyone should be cared for as if they are an extension of their own family, if it's not good enough for your own Mum or Gran, then it's not good enough! We provide personal care for up to 33 residents, and the Home is very much a family-orientated, friendly 'Home from Home'. There are not many job roles where you can say you love your job, but I feel very fortunate to have progressed to a role that I love.
