I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff, carers and helpers, for looking after my mum.
Although she wasn't with you very long, from what I've seen and heard, she enjoyed her time there. The interaction, I personally saw, between mum and Angelina was lovely.
It was heartbreaking to see how quickly she deteriorated after my Dad passed away in April, but I could see that everyone there was doing as much as they could to make her comfortable.
Elreg House is a lovely care home, everyone asked if we were ok, everyone was very friendly. One of the reasons we liked the home was that it's not clinical and quiet. The music, the tv, the general chit chat made it feel more like a home. I think mum liked that.

Thank you all for your kindness and care.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Elreg House from November 2019 up until her recent passing in June 2026. She always got upset when we use to leave her after our visits when her mental capacity was better, but we always knew she was happy there. She loved all of the staff so dearly and they all spent time talking to her and showed affection which she loved. If ever she had a fall or a serious knock wevwere always informed so we could be with her if she was distressed. Over the years she made many friends in the home, all residents and staff are so friendly.

My Husband was in this care home for the last months of his life and the care that myself and my husband had was exceptional by all staff members, no complaints whatsoever. Sadly he passed away in the December after spending 4 months in their care, nothing was too much trouble.

My mum was a resident at Elreg House for a year. She needed 24 hours as my dad was unable to manage her increasing needs. I chose Elreg specifically for its person-centered approach to dementia care. My mum settled in very quickly and developed a good rapport with the staff and other residents. She was able to trust the staff. She spent time in the communal areas as well as watching TV in her room. The staff were all very welcoming to us as a family and communicative. They made us feel at home as well as my mum. The environment is clean and tidy. They have a lovely outside area with a rabbit and the residents enjoy watching him play. They adopt a more psychosocial approach to dementia care rather than the medical model. My mum, unfortunately, passed away in November, and the end-of-life care she received allowed her to go on to her next journey comfortably and pain-free.

Always very welcoming, a homely experience. All the staff are very helpful and make the home a lovely place for the residents to call home. They obviously have the resident's best interests at heart and cater for individual needs.

Poor quality of care - the resident was wearing clothes that didn't fit or had shrunk (shortened sleeves) they appeared unkempt (unwashed hair). When we visited before Xmas we found an uncomfortable pillow on the bed, it looked like it had twisted in the tumble dryer and it was left on the bed for the resident to use. I also noticed the resident had open sores on legs and I asked staff to put antiseptic cream on her legs.
Personal care concerns, client's hair was greasy, client reported to be hungry and ate all the biscuits provided with cup of tea and appeared hungry.
The environment is dirty, old dried orange peel was found on the floor, I also found dirty stained tops and torn/ripped clothes in the resident's chest of drawers, other resident's clothes were also found in the drawers.

The bathroom door and the door entrance to the room were forced together to interlock, creating a safeguarding concern as the emergency cord was not accessible, which I reported. Manager apologised and reassured us improvements will be made.

Reply from Tina Brown, Director at Elreg

Interesting to see, how despite these disgusting, untrue allegations, you have not moved the resident to another home. If this was my mother-in-law, I'd be bringing her home and finding another care home immediately. CQC and all the health care professionals involved have found zero evidence...
