Overall, I was very pleased and content during my two-week stay, even though I was in self-isolation. The room was comfortable with a very nice outlook, although the bathroom was rather small, not being helped by a small pile of PPE to be collected. The catering was very enjoyable, but on occasion, there was a long wait for a cup of tea. The carers were very amiable, especially during the night. I was disappointed not to see any members of the management during my stay.

Reply from Amy-Louise Lee, Deputy Manager at Green Willow Residential Home

Thank you so much for this review we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Due to guidelines, we have to follow protocols during an isolation period regarding PPE which means this will remain in the room until the end of the day to minimise contact and risk of transmission although we understand this can be annoying!

This is a superb residential home. During the years my mother-in-law lived there, Green Willow provided fantastic care. They were wonderful during the lockdown and facilitated my frequent phone calls to her, including callbacks each time she fell asleep and dropped the phone! Sadly, she died in September, but peacefully and surrounded by staff who loved her and whom she loved too. When she passed on her way to her funeral, many staff and residents who were able, came out onto the street to pay their respects. Green Willow is wonderful, and staff really do go the extra mile. Many, many thanks to them for caring for this amazing 98-year-old woman, helping me to retain contact even though I live many miles away and giving me peace of mind that she was in safe, kind and loving hands.

My dad and step mum have been residents at Green Willow for two and a half years now, and have been looked after extremely well in all that time. I have been so impressed with the excellent quality of care and kindness that they have been shown and the concern for their wellbeing during this latest pandemic. I love the way the staff have been creative in thinking of great activities to do at this time. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Green Willow to anyone who may be looking for a residential home that has a family feel and is warm and friendly, and not too big or institutional.

I just wanted you to know how wonderfully Green Willow are - their staff have been so caring and reassuring to my mum and step-father during the last 9 months. They have been really concerned about my diagnosis and chemo treatment in January and of course naturally very anxious about Covid. But this home has been so reassuring for both of them and for myself and my partner. They have kept us in touch with the lovely photos they put on Facebook so regularly - of them felt I must write now - as it was my parents 32nd Wedding Anniversary yesterday and the staff excelled themselves in planning and executing a truly special day for them. This made me so happy as I cannot travel to see them at present and when I spoke to them today they were so very thrilled about 'their special day'. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff - they have such caring and empathetic staff - even when my mum can be difficult. I would recommend this home to anyone considering it.

My parents-in-law have been residents at Green Willow for about 2 and a half years. They were both reluctant to give up their independence and enter the care system but after a slightly rocky start from my mother-in-law, they settled very quickly. Green Willow staff are amazing! They always go the extra mile to make the residents feel like they are part of a family. The resident's families are always welcomed as part of the Green Willow family and when we visit they know us by name. The staff do everything in their power to make this a home from home. Just recently it was my parents-in-law’s wedding anniversary. The staff arranged to get a meal from their favourite local restaurant and set up a private table to make them feel special. They included all the family by sending us all photos of the day so that even during COVID-19 restrictions we could share the celebration. We have been so happy that our loved ones are well cared for and would recommend Green Willow.

The home environment and care regime suit my mother's tastes and needs. All the care staff and management are very professional, and they do a great job of making people feel at home and secure. I am particularly impressed about the way that the home is managing my mother's medication regime and how good they have been in keeping an eye out for anything brewing. It is very airy and clean around the home, and mum has a lovely room with a door opening out onto the garden. Mum seems pretty happy with the food - particularly the Sunday Roast! At this difficult time, they are all doing a brilliant job keeping everyone safe and going the extra mile to keep people entertained and cared for.

Chose Green Willow for its scale (31 rooms). It is small enough to feel homely for my father. The service feels personal and the team is great: positive, caring and patient. The quality of food is very good: varied and interesting, well-chosen for the residents. The activities organiser manages a good range of events daily, something for everyone. My experience with Green Willow, on behalf of my father, has been reassuring throughout.

Thoughtful, caring and kind. I asked my father yesterday if he was all right where he was and he said he liked it and didn't want to be anywhere else. (He'd been reluctant to move out of sheltered accommodation after a very bad fall). The food is good, the rooms are clean, there's always something on for him to do! Very pleased.

I am unable to visit my aunt very often due to the distance between Green Willow and my home. I am very delighted and impressed with the standard of care and attention that she is given by all the staff, in particular, recently when she was ill I was informed and kept up to date with her condition and medication and the result of her medical appointments. It was very clear that she was being very well looked after, engaged with and given caring attention and she always sings the praises of the staff whenever I visit.

My mother was becoming increasingly anxious at home and suffered from health and mobility problems. After a fall we had to find a care home at short notice. As soon as we stepped foot into Green Willow we knew it was just right for Mum. The staff are exceptionally caring, the room is sunny and bright and the food is fantastic. After just a week Mum was settled and having her meals in the dining room and was making friends. The staff keep me fully informed of what is happening at the home and are helping Mum to become more mobile on a daily basis. I cannot thank them enough.

All the staff appear kindly, caring, patient and are always willing to try and help the residents in every way possible. We appreciated all the activities put on by Green Willow - music, film shows, parties etc., to enable social contact and companionship for the residents. We also appreciated the extra things that were available to help the residents feel positive eg., hairdresser, chiropodist, manicurist etc. The food was tasty and nutritious and cooked on the premises. Also appreciated were the beautiful lawns and flower beds, enabling the residents to enjoy the outlook from each room.

I've been very pleased and satisfied with the care given to my mum during her 5 months stay. All the staff are very caring, thoughtful, sensitive and approachable, this includes kitchen staff and management. My mum had a bereavement during this time and there were some lovely gestures that the staff in the home did to comfort and support her. Everyone goes out of the way with smiles which makes all the difference. I felt she was treated as an individual.

I had major knee reconstruction and new knee replacement in November 2018 as an NHS patient and needed a little time to recuperate before returning home. Green Willow is very close and they agreed to give me care. I could see how, from an "outside" position, that the management and happy staff all contributed to making the residents happy, well cared for and well fed. I would thoroughly recommend.

The staff here work brilliantly as a team. Kitchen staff, admin, cleaning and care team are such a joy. Each and every one of them is professional, treating the residents as individuals with the utmost respect. Any requests or desires from my friend are always honoured.

Myself being the residents' main visitor is always made to feel welcome. Green Willow is a home with a heart. Warm, caring, happy and enriched with all the qualities to make it a very special home which my friend, myself and other family members are blessed and proud to be a part of. Thank you.

Other than saying that I would and have recommended this care home to others what else can I say. The staff are kind and diligent and this extends to all staff, the care assistants, chefs and their evening young helpers assistants. Activities appear well balanced and dignified. My mother does not take part in these but they appear varied and meaningful. Food is just what an elderly person needs and is used to. I am always invited to join in with my mother's meals if I am there. Gardens are well kept and it is only a shame that more residents do not use it. I do not think that I would be able to match this full-time care in any way. Actual health care is in my view exemplary also.

Josie DalliJob Title:Operations Director

I am the Operations Director of Kew Care Group and I support all the residents and the teams of staff at our four homes. I visit the homes regularly to check quality, to offer support and to share new initiatives.

I am a physiotherapist by training and I have always loved working with the elderly. I went back to the NHS after having kids but decided that Care Homes would give me the perfect flexibility and the group started in 2002. I love my job and the ever-evolving challenges that it brings. My husband Dominic works in the City of London and he is also a director of the Care Home business. His skills ensure that the homes run like clockwork and meet all the right budgets.

I also love my family and my children Luke and Grace who are moving into teenage-hood and keeping me on my toes. We also have a dog and a cat. I love walking and working in my garden. We go on holiday to Portugal every year and love travelling further afield when we can.

The best piece of advice that I have ever read is in a quote from Maya Angelou – “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel” and I try to remember this at work and at home!

I am Helen Haughton, I support the Homes in the Kew Care Group as Operations Manager.

I started working in health & social care in 2001. When I graduated from Cardiff University with a BA Education, I initially wanted to teach but fell in love with elderly care and joined Kew Care Group in 2008 shortly after the purchase of the Home. I later achieved my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management in 2013.

I was Registered Manager at Cleeve Lodge for 10 years and then handed over the reins to Risa. I left on a high though after achieving an Outstanding rating from CQC!

The best piece of advice that I was once given was to teach and mentor others and they will be the best reflection of you.

I have worked for Kew Care Group for 12 years. In January 2019 I was promoted to Business Operations Manger and now look after the finances in the 4 Homes within the Group. I previously worked at Cleeve Lodge initially as a Administrator, which I loved. I also got involved in the activities for the residents and enjoyed going out on outings with them. I have currently past my NVQ 3 in leadership and management. I enjoy working for Kew Care group as it has a very personal approach to staff and promotes a homely feeling in each of their Homes.

I have been married for 21 years to Gary and have two boys aged 17 and 15 years old. I enjoy family time when not working which consists of holidays, weekends away and spectating both my children playing football. I don’t particularly like football but really enjoy supporting them on the side line even if I do embarrass them sometimes not knowing the rules of the game!!!

Someone asked me, if I had a choice what would I choose in life to be Wealthy, Healthy or Happy. I chose happy because if you are always happy nothing much else matters.

Hi, I’m Amy, Manager of Green Willow a small home in West Sussex near the sea! We support residents over 65 with short stays where needed, or if daily support is required and individuals have made the hard decision to stay here permanently. We are very much an extended family to the residents and staff, we share in each other's joys and celebrations and are there through the sadder times. Our annual Jazz In the Garden festival is known widely throughout the community!

I started working at Green Willow in 2015 as a care assistant before taking on the Manager role in 2020. I grew up in a family that worked in health and social care, which supported me in undertaking my Level 5 in leadership and management.

I have two young boys, Theodore & Zachary who are 3 & 1 years old, who regularly visit the home, and join in with the many wonderful activities our home has to offer, I’m passionate about inter-generational activities and love that my children can have a positive impact on those I look after. One of my favourite quotes is “Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world” from the BFG - Roald Dahl, often we forget that one small interaction can change the course of someone’s entire day for the better, and is one of the many reasons I started working in care from the age of 17.

I started at Green Willow as part of the housekeeping, before moving onto the care team and then being promoted to Team Leader focusing on care quality within the home and working my way up to Deputy Manager. I’m a caring person who’s always liked to help others. I love getting to know new things about the residents and learning new things myself. I have a son Aaron whom I’m very proud of I love going to the air arena with him. I previously trained as a hairdresser and still enjoy doing hair occasionally. My favourite quotes are: “If it’s not recorded it didn’t happen” & “There’s no I in team”.
