My Dad was a resident of Homelands Care Home from 14 July 2021, until he died there on 16 August 2022.
Dad was admitted to hospital in Chichester on 14 June 2021, and he was suddenly discharged on 14 July. I had no choice because of Covid restrictions as to which care home he was to go to. Imagine
how I felt to be told this in answer to my question 'How is my dad?'
We then spoke with the manager of Homelands, visited twice, taking some of Dad's personal effects, and though Homelands isn't the grand home, as many are where I live in Devon, we were at once impressed and reassured with the 24 hour care and the concern for the residents and visitors too.
All Dad's visitors were always offered a drink, food if we wanted it and in the hot weather of this summer ice creams!
From the owner, the manager, all the care staff, laundry, catering and cleaning staff, their caring and respect for the dignity and choice of the residents where possible, shone through.
Thank you - Homelands. You are the best!

My sisters and I are extremely happy with the level of care and attention that the staff at Homelands provide for our mother. She is very happy and contented at Homelands and is always pleased to return after a trip out. Staff are very kind and calm with all the residents, not just our mother. We have
never witnessed anything in the home that has given us any cause for concern. One of my sisters is a health care professional, who works with many patients with dementia, and she frequently comments on the high level of professionalism and genuine care that all staff at Homelands show to the residents, even when they are not being particularly co-operative themselves! This is a very warm, loving, safe and well-run care home and we have no hesitation in recommending it without reservation.

My husband was quickly settled into the company of this cheerful and relaxed home. He has the best round-the-clock care and is well understood. Although Alzheimer's has robbed him of regular conversation, he relates to all the staff and enjoys the activities and outings planned. The meals are good and
varied. The staff maintain a positive approach, whatever mood my husband is in, and I couldn't wish for more or better care for him.

My mum was only in Homelands for a few weeks before she passed away. In that time the staff in the home made her very comfortable and were great with her. During her last few days they took great care of her and treated her with great dignity keeping her comfortable. They also offered me tremendous
support at a difficult time. The building looks a little tired but the care given cannot be beaten.

We have been happy that mum is being looked after, is well fed, and happy in herself as far as her mental condition allows.
Whilst the building is old the best is made of the facilities.
The staff generally seem comforting.

My Mum was a resident at the home for over 3 years. During that time she always received excellent care and support. She was very happy at the home and every one loved her. Sadly she died in February this year of old age, but through her last weeks her care was amazing. I would highly recommend this
home. The staff and residents are wonderful.

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
Outstanding - the service is performing exceptionally well.
Good - the service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
Requires improvement - the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
Inadequate - the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
No rating/under appeal/rating suspended - there are some services which we can't rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. Suspended ratings are being reviewed by us and will be published soon.
Ticks and crosses
We don't rate every type of service. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
There's no need for the service to take further action. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
The service must make improvements.
At least one standard in this area was not being met when we inspected the service and we have taken enforcement action.
