Review from G A (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 January 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident at Kathleen's Lodge for 3 yars; she initially struggled to live in a community environment but thanks to the understanding shown and gentle guidance given by the carers, she quickly adjusted and is now settled and content. The care home is well managed and a number of staff have worked there for many years making the environment feel settled and homely. It has a relaxed and happy atmosphere where everyone is made to feel welcome. Individual carers are kind and thoughtful and genuinely relate to each resident and to their visitors. Residents are treated with respect and their individual needs are known and supported. Staff are quick to notice a resident's health problems and act on it; there is a strong connection between the care home and the local GP practice. There is a focus on keeping residents active and engaged; the morning activities are varied and themed and there is also regular visiting entertainment. There is good regular communication between the care hoe and relatives who feel included as part of the caring team.

Kathleen's Lodge is a family for my Mum - staff are lovely and many have been here for years. My mum feels safe and cared for by the staff. The chef always makes special food so she can eat it, fresh tasty and plenty of it. The events and activity programme is great and well run, so many different things. Office staff are helpful, easy to get info & always friendly.

Kathleen's Lodge and the staff has been a blessing for me and my Mum. The staff are always so friendly and kind and work with me to ensure Mum is having the best possible quality of life In the stage of Alzheimers. They do activities everyday and the food is great. It is a small home with only 20 residents but that way they are getting the best care and it really feels like a community. I am an only child and have gone through the death of my father in 2025 and the support the staff have shown me as well as Mum has been exceptional.

I cannot express enough how grateful I'm am that we found Kathleens Lodge to look after our Mum who is suffering with Dementia.
Her care has been second to none, she is looked after with kindness and dignity.
The home is clean and welcoming, the staff are excellent going above and beyond to make sure the residents are happy, healthy and well kept.

There are activities to keep the residents busy and stimulated. All meals are home cooked and plentiful. It is a big relief to myself, my brother and sister to know our Mum is happy and well looked after

Always very welcoming when I visit my friend. Carers treat residents with great respect and care. Very clean and decorated nicely, the whole place is bright and airy. Feels peaceful and homely there and my friend seems happy. I normally visit in the mornings and there always seems to be activities on and a wide range of gentle inclusive activities or quizzes. Residents always look nicely dressed and cozy. Look forward to sitting in the garden in the summer with my friend and hope there are some gentle gardening activities in the spring-summer.

The staff at Kathleen’s Lodge are very efficient and caring and the residents are treated with dignity. They put on activities and ensure all are included. In the summer they hold activities like garden parties and help the residents enjoy the outdoor space. The family is happy that Mum is being well looked after.

My mother has been very well cared for at Kathleen's Lodge since she became a resident in March 2023. The staff are unfailingly kind and helpful and there are many and varied activities for residents. The garden would benefit from more planting providing residents with more opportunity to participate in gardening. It would also create a more interesting and stimulating space.

Everything about Kathleen's Lodge is excellent. All the staff are friendly, caring and cannot do enough to assist my dad or me when visiting. I am kept up to date with any medical issues and always informed of any issues my dad has had. All staff are willing to 'muck in' and help each other in any way possible. It's a pleasure to know my dad is happy in Kathleen's Lodge.

My sister has been at Kathleen's Lodge for almost a year now. As I live in Cornwall now I don't get to see her as often as I would like. So saying whenever I visit she appears to be very happy and contented. The staff go above and beyond with their duty of care and nothing ever appears to be too much trouble. I always leave knowing she is being looked after and cared for.
