Located just a few miles from Worthing, at Goring-by-Sea, Haviland House offers dedicated residential and nursing care in a purpose-built environment for people living with dementia. The care home’s design consists of five households suited to a particular stage of dementia, each with thirteen to fifteen spacious en-suite bedrooms.

Its charitable status enables the team to dedicate more time to care, while not being answerable to shareholders' investment in facilities. With a market-leading number of care staff, everyone benefits from more quality one-to-one time. The established team of highly trained carers and 24/7 nursing teams are committed to delivering high quality, person-centred care, with compassion, skill, and expertise.

My family and I would just like to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Haviland House for all of the care and compassion you showed to our sister Deb over the past two years. From the very start we knew she was in safe and gentle hands. What we could never have imagined though was the level of
kindness, love, humour, and warmth you would surround her with every day. And in addition, the emotional support extended to us during this difficult time too.
Deb was one of the youngest residents at Havilland House and you never let her illness define her. You saw her for her smile, her laugh, and her spirit and that meant so much to us. More importantly you gave her dignity, friendship and love until the very end and for that we will always be truly grateful.
Please know that you have left an indelible mark on our family's hearts. What you did and continue to do every day is amazing.

My father was resident in Haviland House for 2.5 years once he could no longer live at home due to Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia. Throughout his time at Havilland, Dad received excellent care. He was made to feel comfortable and welcome, and made many friends amongst both fellow residents and staff.
The carers were always attentive and Dad's condition noticeably improved once he was receiving 24/7 care. Many different activities are organised, with a monthly plan sent to resident's relatives, as well as informal activities such as garden walks, watching films etc. A monthly health report is also sent to resident's relatives, and any important events notified by telephone. Security is very good but no impediment to visiting, which is encouraged. The Management were accessible and approachable, and always responded helpfully to any questions.

My Mum has been a resident in Haviland House for 5 weeks and didn't want to leave her own home, she has settled in better than we could have hoped, due to the care, patience and consideration that the staff on Angmering have given her. They take account of her likes and dislikes, they are flexible
to accommodate her daily rhythm.
I live abroad and the staff have ensured that we communicate twice per day.
Mum loves the varied activities, held daily, twice a day. The food is delicious, with home made desserts and cakes.
Haviland House is divided into households giving a homely, sociable feel, with residents of a similar stage in the dementia journey.
I cannot fault the care staff, they have dealt with things in a timely manner, always letting me know and keeping me in the loop. The admin team have also been extremely helpful, from sorting out IT issues for my Mum's video call screen to ordering her Saturday paper, nothing is too much trouble. In short, the Haviland team give 100%.

My wife's grandmother had been in Haviland for 5 years. Throughout this time I watched that as she deteriorated, the care and compassion continued on an upward trajectory. Guild care staff showed the up most respect, care, compassion and the maintenance of dignity out of any care home I have previously
visited. As they cared for my relative in the last days of her life, never as a family have we felt more cared for by a service. Each and every carer, nurse, cleaner, receptionist and manager in that care home should be commended for their hard work and dedication to each and every resident. Thank you Guild Care

My husband's dementia manifests in his challenging behavior. I visited many care homes before finding Haviland House. Many of them were converted Victorian Houses which meant there were often stairs to be negotiated before the residents could access their bedrooms. Some could not provide the support
my husband needed in feeding, personal care, and general looking after. In Haviland House I found a dedicated dementia care home. The building is divided into 5 houses. Each house is a separate unit where there is a spacious corridor with the residents bedrooms, a comfortable lounge and dining room all on the same level. Each house has a secure door so that the residents are safe and secure whatever their level of dementia is. Every month there is a selection of entertainment which is put up in the house so that staff, residents and residents relatives know what is going on. The staff are incredible and Haviland House is now my second home and the staff my extended family.

Haviland house today and for the last year have been exceptional in the care they give to my mother-in-law. They know her needs inside out, she always looks comfortable and happy!
The staff are all so very friendly and easy to approach. They will always inform you monthly of how she is doing and at
anytime if needed.
I wouldn't want my mum in law in any other care home, they go above and beyond in all duties of care to her.

I had reached the point in looking after mum who has dementia where I could no longer safely care for her at home. I researched Care Homes and had already been to Haviland House Day Centre for afternoon tea. Following a lovely tour Mum initially went to stay for a couple of weeks Respite. This became
permanent and Haviland is now her home.
We wanted the best care possible and we have not been disappointed. They have demonstrated that our trust in their care was not misplaced. All the staff, whatever their role, are always friendly with a smile, thoughtful, courteous and above all caring and patient. They are there for their residents but also for their families. Communications are very good and I have been kept involved throughout the year as things have developed. The whole environment is excellent from her own room, common areas and the many activities that take place. I feel that Mum could not be in better hands or in a better place. I have no reservations in recommending Haviland House.

Our Mum moved to Haviland House in April 2024 and settled in much more quickly than expected. She has been living with Vascular dementia for around 17 years, but is now at a stage where she needs the support of a care home environment.
She spent a year at another care home in Worthing which was a
complete disaster (so stressful and upsetting) and we are so glad to have now found Haviland House. It is a huge relief to know that she is well looked after, by staff who genuinely care for her wellbeing and treat her as the lovely person she is.
She is eating and drinking better, entertained better (thanks to the regular activities available) and always seems cared for, with washed hair, in clean clothes. The environment on Angmering corridor is welcoming and homely, and also always warm and clean.
Special mention to one member of staff in particular who seems to go out of her way to keep an eye on our Mum, answers the phone in her room, and is so friendly and reassuring to us and our kids when we visit. Thank you!

My husband joined Haviland House in September 2023. He had various dementias and aphasia following a stroke. He had a few hospital visits before end-of-life care. He was as happy as he could be at Haviland and the staff were amazing and helped him feel as dignified as was possible. He smiled and found
ways to thank his carers by shaking the hands of the males and kissing the hands of the females. I thank all of the staff who cared for him when I couldn't. He sadly passed on June 11th but chose to raise funds for Guild Care and dementia.

Our Mum has been a resident at Haviland for nearly 5 years. Haviland is a wonderful place, with such caring staff, who treat the residents with such respect and kindness. She has made some lovely friendships with other residents and also the staff.
The home is beautiful, spacious and very clean.
The bedrooms are lovely.
There is always a warm welcome and family atmosphere, a relaxed place for residents and their families to feel at home.
Regular activities and entertainment and a beautiful garden for all the families to use.
Nice to see carers have time to sit with residents to talk about topics, their interests and the old days.
As Mum's care needs have increased and changed over the years, it is reassuring to know that as things have progressed Haviland is the right home for her. Haviland caters for many stages of dementia and provides high levels of care and nursing. We enjoy a good relationship with the Haviland staff, all of who are very friendly, approachable and professional.

My mum stayed in Haviland House for 4 months she was end of life care and she loved every day and everyone, she felt very lucky to be there and I couldn't have wished for a nicer place for her to end her life.
My dad is in Haviland he has vascular dementia and it has taken a while for him to settle
but now he says he is staying in a great hotel.
If you want somewhere for your loved ones to be looked after how you would look after them then Haviland is the place, the rooms are en-suite, spacious and clean, the carers are fantastic as are the clinical staff, nothing is too much trouble, meals are cooked in their kitchen and if you time it right you get homemade cake when you visit, yum!
Daily entertainment is brilliant from singers coming in to arts and crafts. Today they made bird feeders from pine cones.
All the staff work so very hard to give our loved ones the very best care and attention.
I couldn't wish for a better home, for my dad.

The home is an utter disgrace. I hadn't done a review before now as we were so traumatised by our experience I needed to forget about it. My Mum was frequently soiled when I visited as were other residents. The whole place stinks. Residents were largely ignored unless it was meal times. The management
couldn't care less and there is a huge focus on money. Despite the huge fees, everything is filthy including cups, bedlinen and rooms. You would be right in asking why on earth we kept her there but, we had no choice. Three staff members were great and a couple of others but that was it. My Mum had an incident of unexplained bruising with very clear finger marks on her arms. I would think very carefully before putting a loved one in here. Mum did not leave her room for a year but is now happily walking and being cared for properly in her new home. One of the carers who knew Mum from Havilland saw her in her new home and cried at the difference.

I can not express the amount of gratitude to all the staff.
I can not single one person out, the carers have made my mum's respite.
The lady from the office has also been amazing offering advice above her remit nothing ever seems too much trouble which is what we need as social services I feel have
let my mum down so badly.

Having been present for quite long periods when visiting my husband. I am full of admiration for the way the staff nurses, assistants, helpers and volunteers are so consistent in the way they carry out their duties. Residents are treated with kindness and respect. Their concerns are addressed promptly

Dad went into Haviland House in February 2023 aged 94 into Bramber Wing. As it was his first time in a care home we were naturally anxious that he would be looked after properly and that his needs would be met. It soon became apparent to us that we needn't have had any concerns whatsoever, and that
every single carer that we experienced who helped look after Dad did a fantastic job. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit him practically every day and evening (along with my two brothers) and we could always see the care, effort, and fondness into looking after him. I think one of any relative's biggest concerns of a family member going into a care home is trust, and we trusted Haviland House to look after him.

I can't thank Haviland enough for the care and patience shown towards my dad as he battled Alzheimer's. He was not an easy resident, but the staff took time to get to know him and engage with his interests so that over time he settled in and became a part of their community. He had some complex needs,
physical and mental, but Haviland managed everything well and I can't fault the care he received. Haviland was always spotlessly clean when we visited, with no 'smells'. Communication with relatives could be better very good at informing us of issues, but sometimes slow to respond to queries. That said, I'd rather staff prioritise good care over responding to emails/calls. Overall I would recommend Haviland to anyone looking for a home for their loved ones.

I joined Haviland House as Care Home Manager on November 22. I started my career in Health and Social care in 2012 as an administrator at a nursing home in Brighton. I quickly progressed to Deputy Manager and then to Care Home Manager before moving on to be Registered Manager at an 80-bed Residential and Dementia Home.


I cannot envisage another career with more varied days, challenges and rewards than this role brings and the chance to make a positive change in people’s lives is a real motivator. I really enjoy being a manager with the ability to influence positive change, support a team and drive the highest standards of person-centred care.


The whole team at Haviland House show passion and dedication to providing a high level of care for people living with Dementia. We ensure our residents are fulfilled, engaged, well cared for and happy. Getting to know the people we care for, seeing them happy and empowering them to live their lives is one of the greatest rewards.

Job Title: Wellbeing and Activities Coordinator

My journey at Haviland House began in 2022 when I joined as a Dementia Support Worker. In August 2023, I had the privilege of taking on the role of Wellbeing and Activities Coordinator, which has been incredibly rewarding.


My primary responsibility as the Wellbeing and Activities Coordinator is to deliver a diverse range of activities aimed at stimulating the mental and physical well-being of our residents. One of the most important aspects of my role is ensuring that these activities are accessible and enjoyable for individuals at all stages of dementia and with varying abilities.


I genuinely love what I do. Being a part of our residents' daily well-being and creating a fun, positive atmosphere to care for them is at the heart of my role. It's incredibly fulfilling to contribute to their lives and make a meaningful impact on their overall quality of life.


My dedication to the residents at Haviland House drives me, and I am deeply committed to providing the best possible care and support to enhance their well-being.
