Summerley has recently become my sister's permanent home after a previous spell of respite care. Her care has been consistently good and the staff here are welcoming and warm. Her room is comfortable and bright. The staff have been consistently responsive to the changing needs and she is treated sensitively
and with dignity. I have found it easy to build relationships with the staff who help with advice and information about her developing condition. It has given me peace of mind to know my sister is in such a pleasant and caring home and surroundings.

Mum has been in Summerley for several years now, and has advanced Alzheimers. She has always been treated with respect, kindness and the utmost care by all of the staff. Mum now relies on her carers to do everything for her. It is incredibly difficult to watch someone you love slowly deteriorate but
it is made easier knowing she is safe, content and so well cared for. Thank you Summerley team.

My first impression of the home was that it was pleasantly smelling, bright with attractive surroundings. The staff members were welcoming and pleased to show me around the home although I had not made a prior appointment. The residents all looked clean, tidy and seemed content. During his year living
in the home, my husband has been well looked after by the kind and competent staff. The staff also go out of their way to support the resident's previous carers and help maintain their relationship with the residents.

My wife has been a resident at Summerley Care Home since March 2014. I have nothing but praise for the home and have never regretted the choice we made although it involves a forty mile round trip to visit her. The home is very well managed and the staff are all kind and friendly and treat my wife with
dignity and affection. She is now in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's and everything has to be done for her. Although it is distressing to visit her, I leave knowing that in the final stages of her life she is being looked after with the utmost care.

My husband has been living at Summerley for almost two years now. During that time he has received excellent care and is happy and contented.
It really is like a home from home, the staff are friendly and professional, nothing is too much trouble and visitors are welcome at any time.
I would recommend
Summerley to anyone.

Summerley care home has been a godsend to our family. Dad has lived there now for eighteen months and the standard of care, attention to his needs, has never deteriorated. Christmas morning the staff had gone to so much trouble. Dad is too poorly to be in the lounge, but the staff had bought him a
Christmas jumper, put a Christmas blanket on his bed, and had gone to so much trouble to help him be aware of the day it was. This attention to detail made a very hard day for us that much better and made a special memory for us. We were so lucky to find a home from home for dad when we needed it most. Summerley care staff are an amazing bunch of people who support the whole family

We had some poor care services before my mum came to Summerley. We are extremely happy with the care at Summerley. I do feel they genuinely care about their residents. They have regular activities and the home is kept to a good standard. In fact my husband who hadn't seen my mother for a while remarked
that she looked better than the last time he has seen her!! :)

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.877)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.877) out of 10 for Summerley is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.877 for Summerley is calculated as follows: ( (306 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 342 Ratings = 4.877
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Summerley is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
