My mum has been a resident here since July 2020, so throughout the whole pandemic, it was a hard time for all! Mum is happy here and is well looked after. It is a lovely homely care home in a great position. All the management and staff are very good and genuinely caring. The food is good, there are
regular activities organised. The building itself is a lovely period property with a spacious lounge, a smaller lounge, a dining room and a lovely garden. Cleanliness is good. All the rooms are very nice, some are en-suite. Any minor issue I have had has been dealt with promptly and with compassion and kindness. I know my mum is well looked after and is content, and that is worth its weight in gold and I am so grateful and appreciative of that.

Unfortunately, the experience my mother had at The Thatched House was extremely upsetting. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and hygiene were in my opinion below acceptable standards. Mice were apparent in her room. Supposedly clean sheets were blood-stained amongst other stains! All residents were treated
as if they had dementia, which my mother does not. The food was very repetitive and unappetising. My 93-year-old mother ended up emotionally broken. She was sent there from the hospital, we did not get a chance to visit prior to her going there. Do not believe the CQC report or other reviews. Disgusting.

Excellent - caring, friendly and considerate.
The Thatched House offered a really homely atmosphere for my Aunt, where there was always respect but also a gentle sense of joy.
After first taking up some respite opportunities, my Aunt happily moved in for full-time care when her family were no longer
able to manage. At whatever time we popped in to see her, we were always given a friendly welcome and found her looking smart and content. As her needs changed we were always kept fully informed, confident that the owner-manager and her team had taken the time to really get to know my Aunt.
We are extremely grateful for the care, kindness and consideration they showed to ensure that my Aunt's final days were peaceful and comfortable.
Could not recommend The Thatched House more highly!

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
Outstanding - the service is performing exceptionally well.
Good - the service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
Requires improvement - the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
Inadequate - the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
No rating/under appeal/rating suspended - there are some services which we can't rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. Suspended ratings are being reviewed by us and will be published soon.
Ticks and crosses
We don't rate every type of service. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
There's no need for the service to take further action. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
The service must make improvements.
At least one standard in this area was not being met when we inspected the service and we have taken enforcement action.
