Vine House is a small, private, family-run residential home which has enjoyed considerable acclaim and many accolades over 35+ years. They pride themselves on their welcoming and homely atmosphere in addition to their first-rate care.

This special home is located on the outskirts of Midhurst, a small market town, in the heart of the South Downs National Park. A wide selection of shops and amenities are close-by. Their own mobility car assists with longer journeys to appointments, a trip to the beach or there’s a popular bus stop just outside.

Vine House is a traditional, large family home with 14 well-furnished bedrooms; all equipped with Nurse Call, a television, Wi Fi, an Amazon Echo and a telephone facility. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furnishings, memorabilia, pictures and knick-knacks to personalise their own bedroom. Twelve bedrooms have en-suite facilities while the remaining two bedrooms have vanity units (wash basins) and have easy access to adjacent bathrooms.

Well maintained gardens boast several separate patio areas to enjoy the summer sun, the wildlife or just watch the world go by! Many residents love to tend to their own individual raised flower beds or contributing to their fruit and vegetable gardens. A private car park can be found at the rear of the home and there is also ample off-street parking available.

The Vine House staff are noted for being compassionate and caring and pride themselves on always providing a high level of round-the-clock care and support. GPs and health practitioners visit whenever needed while a chiropodist, hairdressers and clergy visit regularly. There are a variety of daily activities, special events, local outings and of course there is always time for a cuppa and a chat!

Friends and family are welcome to visit whenever they wish. To join residents for lunch or afternoon tea or just to pop in and say hello - the doors are always open.

Since my grandma arrived at Vine House, I have been extremely pleased with the level of care she receives and how clean and well-managed the home is. Every time I visit with my three children, we are always given a warm welcome and offered drinks and biscuits. The staff consistently go above and beyond,
and nothing ever seems too much trouble, which makes each visit a pleasure. My grandma is genuinely happy, content, and clearly very well cared for. It's incredibly reassuring to know she's in such safe and compassionate hands.

My aunt has been at Vine House for approximately a year. She was very reluctant to enter a care home but her poor eyesight and memory meant more support was needed.
She has been so much better and happier since she moved to vine house. The team are so welcoming , attentive and caring. The food is
very good. They fit in around my aunts habits and needs for example she get up very early in the morning and goes the bed early in the evening. She likes to be as independent as possible and they supervise her well asking what she wants before rushing in.

I have found this Care home to be a really friendly and accommodating residence, with always a very welcoming, clean and cheerful environment, even when arriving with multiple great grandchildren for impromptu visits. I cannot recommend this care home highly enough.

From my very first visit to Vine House I have been delighted with this care home. It was a very hard decision for our family to make when our mother could no longer live independently. Vine House helped us enormously. My mum has been extremley well cared for since her arrival and this continues
everyday.
As a family, which extends to our grandchildtren and great grandchildren, have all been made to feel very welcome at any time of the day and they all enjoy visiting this very special home.
I would recommend this Residential Care Home 100%

The staff are lovely and Mum is happy living there. She's always clean and nicely dressed, which means a lot for her dignity. Family are always welcomed by the staff and they look after us too. Lots of social events. Everywhere is kept very clean and tidy. The kitchen area is visible too- an important
factor in my mind - and always looks clean and hygienic. Mum has lived here for 5 years now and we are happy that she is happy and feels part of this second family.

I have been associated with Vine house for many years. My Mother was a resident for 6 years. Now my Aunt. The whole atmosphere of the place is good, you feel as if you are visiting a family home.. Many of the staff are the same as when my Mother was a resident. I feel welcomed a part of the Vine House
family.

My mother's been at Vine House for over a year now. The care is great, the staff are lovely and - importantly - rarely change, so there's consistency of care. Information sharing between the staff is excellent, so I can ask virtually anyone for a status and get an instant answer. It's small, so you
never feel like part of a machine. The home has a wide range of events, there's home cooking, 24*7 access, direct line to the local GP and support for anything I've ever asked for. It is genuinely excellent.

My father has been at Vine House for several years now, and there is no better place we'd have him reside. The care provided has been more than we could have ever expected, with my father's continual decline in his health. The staff are patient, caring, and ever so friendly that it really is a home
from home. Residents are encouraged to bring in personal items to brighten up their room, and there is plenty of storage for their clothes. Visiting family members are welcome to join in their weekly activities/entertainment. The summer garden party is always a highlight of the year, not forgetting the Christmas panto!

My Great - Aunt has been staying here for around a year, and the team are absolutely wonderful. She is so well looked after, it gives such a great peace of mind to us as her family. They have a lovely range of activities for the residents to get involved with. It's a really cosy, home setting.

Vine House offers an excellent service with lots to do for the residents . It is also spotlessly clean and provides healthy and nutritious meals. It feels very homely and comfortable and it's a lovely home for my mother where she has friends amongst the other residents. Her room is large and comfortable,
cosy and very homely, decorated with her personal belongings. The key to Vine House being such a wonderful environment is the staff that are very friendly, caring and supportive, I can't speak highly enough of them and I'm extremely grateful for all they do for my mother.

My husband has resided in Vine House for three years. He has received all kindness and care from all the staff. he is happy and contented. A wide variety of entertainment is provided regularly. Visitors are encouraged to events and a quiet room is provided for family visits if required. The daily menu
is taken round so that a choice may be made by the resident. The meals are very good. I am made welcome always.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.957)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.957) out of 10 for Vine House Older Persons Residence is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.957 for Vine House Older Persons Residence is calculated as follows: ( (352 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 368 Ratings = 4.957
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Vine House Older Persons Residence is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 17 registered maximum number of service users is 3.4, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
