My daughter and I attended the jubilee garden party and were so pleased we were able to and to meet some of the staff that previously we have only had telephone conversations with. The garden party was very well organised and it was a real pleasure to see the residents in a pleasant situation and enjoying themselves and we hope there can be future occasions such as this. The music chosen was such an excellent choice, as most of the residents remembered the tunes from so long ago and it was just lovely to see them singing and dancing along in their way. The staff are so caring to both the residents and their families and this is made more evident in settings such as this. The staff obviously work very hard as in the almost eighteen months that my husband has been at the home, it is always very clean and tidy and we appreciate that this is not always so easy. Due to the nature of the illness, it's not always clear what is in their minds.
Thank you so much for these kind words. We really do appreciate receiving comments like this.
The staff are helpful and friendly. The meals are brilliant. Lovely garden. Plenty of areas to sit in the sun or shade. The room isn't big, but adequate for needs. The manager is friendly and approachable.
Thank you so much for your kind words, we really appreciate them.
Brookhouse, has always welcomed me when I've arrived for visiting. They have kept us informed of any medical problems as they have arisen and had them dealt with immediately by medical practitioners, accordingly. The staff are always pleasant and smiling and attend to mum's needs as efficiently as they can. The home is clean and tidy most of the time, but the laundry is a bit of an issue, even though clothes are labelled, they end up in the wrong rooms and are screwed up. Mum's drawers are always in a mess, annoyingly.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such lovely comments.
The team have always been very tentative, patient and caring with my mum who is certainly not always the easiest resident to care for. They also are always willing to help me make the best of the times I have to visit.
Thank you for your lovely comments, they are much appreciated.
My mother is a dementia resident in Brook House. I would like to thank all the staff for all the hard work, dedication, and care they have shown, whilst looking after my mother since her arrival. Thank you for all the effort put in daily, in truly testing times.
Thank you for your kind words, it is much appreciated and we will share them with the staff.
Thank you to all of the team at Brook House who have worked so hard during this pandemic. The care and dedication to the residents has been above expectations. It must be difficult to provide this service with all the precautions and changes of guidelines which has been enormous. Keeping the residents and visitors safe is priority, I believe they have and continue to do so. Their area set up for visual contact and two-way communication is so good and helps both the residents and visitors. A medal for the person who thought that up. Thanks again to all who keep our loved ones safe, comfortable and supplied with excellent meals.
Thank you for your kind words, they are much appreciated and will be shared with the team at Brook House.
Thank you to all the staff who look after my mum. She is bed-bound and the care she receives is amazing. I'm lucky mum is here. She has been in the care home for a long time now and her needs have changed along the way and are always met. She is warm and cosy and that is of great comfort to me. Whenever I come in all staff including office and cleaners are helpful and friendly and always ask after my dad. The care home has such a good feel to it. I remember the social worker saying that when mum first came here, she wasn't wrong. You are all angels.
Thank you for your kind words they are much appreciated and will be shared with the team at Brook.
The office staff and carers are all very approachable, welcoming, kind and caring. The atmosphere here is always a very relaxed one and this contributes to all the residents feeling safe and secure. Not only do they look after my mother but when I call or visit I am made to feel part of the Brook House family. My mother has always been full of praise for the wholesome and nutritious ‘hot’ meals. House communication with loved once’s is excellent and I am kept informed of even the slightest problem. I feel safe in the knowledge that they take good care of mum, reassuring her whenever she may feel anxious for any reason and they always do their best to sort out any issues quickly.
Overall very pleased with the standards of care in Brook House. Very attentive, friendly staff, and the home is warm, clean and welcoming.
Thank you for your kind words; we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a lovely review.
My mother has been a resident at Brook House for over five years, and during that time, the excellent management, both former and current, and their team - including several staff members who have been there for the entire period - have provided consistently good care and shown great kindness to mum. They have always gone above and beyond, especially during the past couple of years when sadly my mother has become totally bed-bound, and that's on top of all the additional problems that the pandemic must have brought to the workload. Very happy to recommend.

My mother has been a resident at Brook House for over five years, having arrived at the home whilst still reasonably active. She is now in her late 90s and requires much more care and attention being very frail. Brook House has looked after her in an exemplary fashion through all the stages of her time at the home, and great credit is due both to the current manager and staff and to their predecessors. I can speak for my whole family in saying we have been very impressed with the care she has received and are always confident of how well she is being looked after.
Thank you for your kind words; we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a lovely review.
Very content, would not hesitate to ask for assistance.
I have always found the staff very warm and friendly. I chose this home (rather than a more expensive one) because it has a homely feel and a lovely garden.
I cannot fault the amazing care that the manager and her team give to my mum, I currently live in Spain and cannot visit my mum as much as I would like. It's so nice to know that she is being looked after by her extended family at Brook House.
Thank you for your kind words, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review, we will pass your comments onto the team.
My mum has been a resident at Brook House for five years. She has been extremely happy and content there. Brook House is a clean well-presented home, very welcoming. The staff there really are amazing, so very kind and caring towards my mum. I can't thank them enough. They are always happy to listen to any concerns I may have. My only concern is just how short-staffed they are which has been picked up on other reviews. Overall I would highly recommend Brook House.
Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate you taking the time to complete a review, your comments will be passed onto the staff.
She also says they are often short-staffed but staff seem to manage well despite this, they should be applauded.
The facilities, mum cannot control the heating in her room so can get too hot at night if it's on as she hates the heat (it must be worse for residents upstairs). She hasn't got her own toilet and has to use a commode, however, she has mental capacity and says despite the antiquated building she's happy with the care and doesn't want to move.
My mother has been in Brook House since September 2020. The staff are very caring and approachable and I can’t fault any aspect of their care and availability, even in the middle of the night when I have had occasion to contact them to check on my mum. They are second to none and I thank them sincerely for the wonderful care and support they provide. Although this has no reflection on the care my mother is receiving inside the home, the outside is a disgrace. My mother looks out onto the back garden and due to hospital stays has spent a lot of time isolated in her room, and I mean weeks at a time for long periods. This area is unsafe for residents. What she looks out on is a miserable, overgrown garden which is overgrown with weeds, hasn’t got an ounce of colour, and is very depressing. Also, many dementia residents look out onto this garden and I don’t feel this outlook benefits their wellbeing or mental health. Come on Excelcare, get this sorted as a matter of priority!
My mum has been a resident at Brook House for a few years now, firstly I would like to thank all the management and team for keeping my mum safe during covid. No one has had an easy time of things with all the restrictions but the window waves, pod visits and video call communications have kept us all in contact and made sure Mum hasn't felt forgotton. Our relationship and communication with the staff is amazing and they have always kept me updated if Mum has been poorly. Mum has been much more of her self since moving into Brook House, the activities, having a hair salon, proper meals and all-round care and company has been a great stimulant for Mum, it is her home now and she is very happy there. A big A-star to all the staff and thank you for all you do.
Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate you taking the time to do this review
My mum has been a resident of Brook House for just over two years. She has come alive with the company and fun, care, love from her friends and staff. I thank the staff for all their care for my mum and looking after us relatives who get stressed not being able to do more at these stressful times we're in. My mum has been taxing at times and very poorly but with the excellent care here she has pulled through. I would recommend the home and staff to anybody. Thank you so very much.
Thank you for your kind words, these are very much appreciated.
Well, we certainly made the right decision when choosing Brook House for my aunt. She has been at Brook House for just over a year now, and I feel that we should have made that decision earlier as her quality of life has been so much improved. Prior to going to Brook House, she was at home alone with carers three times a day and visits from her family and friends as often as we could, but naturally, she spent so long home alone, often anxious. She is now taking part in the amazing activities arranged for the residence every day, she is happy and content. The quality of food she is being served, freshly cooked each day is far superior to the ready meals she was having. Her room is lovely, clean and comfortable with some of her possessions which are familiar to her. The staff are all brilliant from management to cleaning staff, and all have an important role in making the residents feel secure and loved, which they all do. I cannot fault anything or anyone. Thank you, Brook House.
