The main thing we we looking for was the care home to treat my dad with dignity, compassion, kindness and respect. Buchan House has delivered this on all counts. Every single member of the team their has contributed to my dad feeling safe, cared for and looked after.

I can't thank Buchan House enough for the care and compassion they've shown to my grandma. From the very beginning, the staff made her feel welcome and safe, and it's been a huge comfort to our whole family knowing she's in such good hands.
The caregivers are attentive, patient, and genuinely kind.
They take the time to get to know each resident, not just care for them. My grandma often tells us how much she enjoys the activities, how good the meals are, and how friendly everyone is-from the nurses to the cleaning staff.
What really stands out is the level of communication. We're always kept informed about her health and wellbeing, and they're quick to respond to any concerns we have. It's clear they treat residents like family.
Seeing my grandma smile and thrive at Buchan House means the world to us. We're truly grateful for everything the team does.

My mother was extremely well cared for and loved by the carers. I never had any concerns. She was always kept clean, fed and watered and not left on her own all the time. As she was bed bound, remained in her room. I would highly recommend this home and became friends with the staff myself. They always
kept me up to date and as a frequent visitor I know mum was loved.

I am very satisfied to the care and love shown to my mother, from the time she moved into the home until her death. She was shown respect, care, fun, interest and love for the ten years she lived in Buchan, until her death.

My dad was admitted to Buchan House Care Home 24th June. He had dementia. Very well cared for by all the staff, meals were very nice, plenty of fluids. At time Dad would want to get out of bed, he was looked after so well. All the staff, being nurses or carers, looked after him first-class. My dad deteriorated
with his illness and became palliative care, everybody looked after his needs. When he was near the end of his life, Nurses and carers went beyond the call of duty. All the care was given, also looked after family. Couldn't ask for anything. Everybody was excellent.

My nan came into your home after abuse and neglect from her old care home.
She recently passed this week but the level of care in this home is amazing.
The manager and staff are lovely and treat you and the residents like family and really go out of their way.
The staff were bubbly and made us feel
very welcome, the care and respect my nan received was fantastic.
The home is very clean, they have lovely lounge areas for families and the residents look so happy and jolly.
Everyone gave us a warm welcome when we visited, even the cleaners, they were out of this world. It's like walking into a family home, you feel the love and warmth straight away.
My nan was only here for a few weeks but we spent a lot of hours in the home the week she died and they all gave us 100%.
Fantastic management, Top carers and staff.
A big thank you for you all.

Would 1000% recommend this care home, my great-nan moved here a few weeks ago from another care home which treated my great-nan badly and seeing the difference in levels of care was unbelievable. All the staff are absolutely brilliant, always smiling and having time for residents and their families.
Even asking relatives if they needed anything from a drink or something to eat to having time to listen to relatives and residents for any issues.

The staff were amazing. My great-grandmother had such a bad experience at her old care home where she was abused and neglected. So coming here was like a a dream. She was taken care of by everyone and they helped her with everything from food to clothes, washing and more, they all have so much compassion
for the residents and also the family members. They know that things are tough for you in the time that your loved ones are there so to make accommodations to makes things as easy and possible. They have been amazing from the beginning. 10000% would recommend.

My great-nan has been here for three/four weeks and was moved here due to neglect and abuse in old home. The staff were fantastic and can't fault them on anything, I've never seen such a caring home in my life as much as this one. When we needed something someone was always there to help with anything
we needed.
My great-nan passed early hours on Tuesday 21st August and before she passed, the carers were helping as much as possible and gave 100% of their time helping my nan in this time, all staff were fantastic even before Nan's passing. I loved how there were activities every day, so clean and could not find a bit of dust anywhere. The nurse that was on shift the night my nan passed, I like to say a massive thank you again for the help you gave that night/morning.
Evan the manger (lovely lady) gave us a lot of support..
Well done to all the staff and please continue the fantastic work you do and love you give the residents.

My partner's nan was admitted to the home a few weeks ago from a different care home which is now under reviews by CQC for neglect and abuse. The level of care, respect, compassion were absolutely second to none during the few weeks Nan was there before Nan passed away. From the moment you walked through
the door, it was like one big family, from the cleaners through to management, always got smiles and time to talk to both residents and relatives about any worries. Even when activities were on or open days, relatives were allowed to interact and join in which I feel is fantastic. The last six days before Nan passed, all staff bent over backwards to ensure Nan was comfortable and always ensuring if we needed anything only to ask and they would sort it out. Would recommend this home to anyone who wants to go here 1000%.

My brother was in Buchan House with severe Dementia for 5 years. The Care was truly outstanding, personal care of a high standard, Social activities encouraged, and lots of fun and laughter. Always we were made welcome at any time to visit and when he was well enough to take him out for afternoons.
The whole home is very clean and fragrant and tidy. Whenever there was any change in his condition we were always notified by the Nursing staff. The end-of-life care was tranquil and efficient. We will never be able to thank them enough for the care and love shown to our Brother.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.960)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.960) out of 10 for Buchan House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.960 for Buchan House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (438 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 454 Ratings = 4.96
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buchan House Care Home is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
