When I visit my mother I find the staff always very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and my mother is always well dressed, clean and of high spirits, although she does not know why she is there!
At least I know she is well cared for and looked after in a loving and caring way as I would or could
do myself.
Thank you to all the marvellous staff.

I am very satisfied by the care my husband receives. The staff are friendly and kind and respectful. My husband is safe and that, to me, is the most important.
The home manager is friendly and approachable. It is so lovely that there are pets in the house. The garden is cared for and attractive.

Buchan House is warm and friendly. Just wish our relative would mix more out of his room, very lonely at times. Main carers very friendly towards our relative, some just come into the room, put food down and go - no conversation.
Food very good apart from some foreign food, but loves the Sunday Lunch
and pork chops. Very fond of the cooks. They visit and find out likes and dislikes.
He feels safe and secure and that's important to him.

I couldn't have asked for a better place.
The staff were so friendly and caring.
Although my husband refused to eat or drink and was very belligerent, they tried always to make him eat even getting special fruit for him.
He was always kept scrupulously clean and observed most of the day.
I felt
great peace, in the end, knowing he had passed away in such a lovely, caring place.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My late father was a former resident at Buchan House Care Home from February 2019 till May 2019. He when there for respite care to start off with but my mother and I were so impressed with the home that we felt happy for him to become a permanent resident there.
The staff are very friendly and helpful,
nothing is too much trouble for them. And they always do their best to make sure that the residents are well cared for and any needs they have are met.
The home itself is clean and tidy and is a welcoming place to visit a loved one.
I would recommend Buchan House Care Home to anyone looking to make sure that their loved one is well cared for.

Have found all staff very friendly towards Mum and ourselves when visiting. This also applies to other patients in the home. We are always updated when we visit on Mum's health and well being which we find reassuring. They offer different activities for patients to keep them occupied.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.950)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.950) out of 10 for Buchan House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for Buchan House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (342 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 358 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buchan House Care Home is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
