My mother has needed care 24/7 at Maycroft since January of this year and I would like to say she has been very well looked after by friendly, supportive and expert staff. The food and entertainment provided are of a very high standard and the accommodation is excellent. Many thanks to you all.

My need was for convalescent/respite care following a severe gastric episode. I also have a past history of PTSD/trauma. My stay at Maycroft was at short notice but I was welcomed into a warm and friendly atmosphere and family. I needed help and was given it. I found the staff competent and caring. Should I ever need a break again, I would choose Maycroft.

Overall Experience
We felt the warmth and homely atmosphere of Maycroft as soon as we crossed the threshold and knew this was the right place for my husband who suffers with Dementia. Our feelings have been proven correct now that he has lived there for the past seven months.
It was a heart-wrenching experience letting our loved one go and passing his care over to strangers. But the manager and staff have been exceptional in helping us all deal with this huge change in our lives and welcomed us all into their family. They are friendly, very caring, and approachable, and go the extra mile to ensure that the health and happiness of the residents is paramount.
The Residents are encouraged to take part in organized varied daily activities. My husband has joined in some of these including cooking Brownies, much to our surprise, the first time cooking in eighty-one years! We are always welcome to visit, join in the activities and are invited to Celebrations which we have thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you Maycroft.

We have been more than pleased with the help and support given to my mother-in-law and the care and support shown to the family, especially in the early days when she was very unsettled. Nothing is too much trouble and we feel able to ask anything and staff whenever we visit we are always asked if she or ourselves need anything.

Lovely staff and atmosphere. Dad has transformed into much more of his old self. A great home. After previous negative experiences at other homes, the effort of the staff and management is hugely appreciated.

I have never seen my friend's husband look so happy and content since he had to go into care. Maycroft Residential Care obviously suits him. He smiles so much which is a joy to see. He now joins in with whatever is going on. Everywhere is clean and tidy and the rooms are excellent. Everyone is treated with care and dignity This is all down to the excellent manager and her wonderful staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. They are a team to be proud of and I would have no hesitation in recommending Maycroft to anyone.

My husband, who has Alzheimer's, was in two previous care homes where he was constantly pacing and agitated before moving to Maycroft. In just one month, the change in him is incredible. The homely atmosphere and lovely, caring staff have have made him so much more relaxed and happy. All our family and friends, when visiting, have commented on the huge change. This is thanks to the manager, carers and all the supporting staff who have helped him settle in and feel so welcome. When I go to visit him I am always greeted by the staff with a lovely smile and kept up to date with how he is doing. He now joins in with the various activities, which never happened where he was before. The residents' families receive weekly updates of the past week's activities from the manager, which is always very welcome. I cannot praise the Maycroft enough and would highly recommend to anyone.

My mother has been a resident at Maycroft Residential Care for over a year now and it has been a great move for her. The outstanding care from staff and genuine interest and kindness towards all the residents is heart-warming. My mum's quality of life has improved so much with the interactions and activities (especially scrabble her favourite) throughout each day. I tend to visit each Saturday and bring the dog to the garden or up to Mum's room which she loves (as do most of the other residents who like to come and pat him!). Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff and we receive lots of pictures and videos of the daily activities which is wonderful. The home is warm and very comfortable with high quality furnishings everywhere. Can't recommend Maycroft Residential Care highly enough.

Our mother has dementia and was refusing to go into any care home. However, due to careful planning and gentle persuasion, she agreed to a trial period at Maycroft. We were astonished at how quickly she adapted. She takes part in nearly all the activities and has made friends.

Our mother was extremely fussy with food and was losing weight. She now enjoys meal times and has gained weight. The staff have been excellent and we consider ourselves very lucky to have got her a place.

My mother has been at Maycroft for 17 months now and the improvement in her mental and physical health, has been truly amazing. She is genuinely happy there. The wonderful program of activities suits her very well as she likes to be busy. All the carers are unbelievably patient and kind. When there are issues (inevitable in community living), the manager quickly ensures they are addressed. I am so grateful for everything.

In my view, Maycroft is an outstanding care home for our mum. She has a full and very varied life there, with staff who are wonderful, caring, considerate, fun creative and extremely kind. The care home manager is an amazing person, running the home with huge professionalism, compassion and care, also sending us, almost daily, video updates on our mum and what she is doing that day. So reassuring. We never thought moving our mum could have worked out so well but it did. My mum is very fond of the staff and told me the other day that she loves her life there. She has so many things she can choose to do she really does have a full and happy life. I don't need to say any more!

We looked around many care homes in this area and this was our favourite. It was homely and we got a real sense that the residents were happy. It was 6 months before we got her a place and consider ourselves very lucky to have got her in.

Our mother has dementia and was very reluctant to go in. It is thanks to the careful planning and experience by management that our mum settled and is actively enjoying her stay. We are very grateful.

My mother has been a resident at Maycroft Residential Care home for some months now and, from day one, we couldn’t be more delighted with the care she has received. Every member of staff shows true commitment to their role, and carries it out with a sense of joy and fun, which cascades wonderfully to the residents who respond well to being treated with such respect and inclusion. There are daily activities (flower arranging, craft, visiting entertainers) which Mum, despite Dementia, loves taking part in. And, in the midst of the pandemic families have, almost, daily contact through photos, videos, video calls and other creative ways of maintaining contact (which is hugely reassuring). Putting a loved one in a care home is a tough decision but one that we don’t regret, as we watch her enjoying being part of a community, even a family, and can have peace of mind that she is receiving the expert and compassionate care she needs. Thanks team Maycroft!

I cannot recommend Maycroft Care Home highly enough - they have brought my parents back to life from a very low ebb. Absolutely amazing. We moved Dad first, and then Mum a few weeks later because her home had a positive Covid test and Maycroft, rightly so, wanted to make sure Mum had multiple negative tests before her move.

They are now together again and they haven't been this happy for ages. In the 4 months Mum was in her previous home (advanced Alzheimers) she was steadily declining physically and mentally. The month she has been at Maycroft has seen a remarkable transformation. Of course, it is mainly because of being with Dad, but I must say how delighted I've been with how proactive Maycroft have been in providing so many different activities to stimulate her (and Dad's) mental and physical wellbeing. It is just lovely to see the photos and videos from the manager. I haven't seen that smile on Dad's face for a couple of years.

My father, aware of his increasing cognitive impairment and the potential need for residential care, actively chose Maycroft above other options. He could not possibly have made a better choice. He moved to Maycroft permanently over a year ago and has been so well looked after there. Dad always looks content and happy; I completely understand why. The property and gardens are lovely, well designed and beautifully decorated. The home is sited in a quiet and pleasant village with amenities (e.g. post office or nice walks) nearby. The staff are fantastic and provide excellent all-around care, I'm jealous of Dad's lovely face massages! There are multiple options for activities either in the home or outside. The menu and food are wonderful. The staff have done an incredible job during the chaos that is Covid-19 so while I haven't seen Dad for a while (his ability to recognise us or interact with us when both in full PPE is constrained) but all the photos and messages really help. Thank you!

My mum is staying in Maycroft for a respite as I was very worried about her not eating and has been isolated for so long. I was sure she was depressed as well, she has also been having continuous falls. She loves the staff, the atmosphere the food which she is eating more already than she probably has for years, I can already see a difference in her. She doesn't look so worried and tired. She has had facials, foot spa's, hair done and is being so looked after - spoilt you could say. She has said already that if she doesn't stay on now she definitely will be moving in for good in the near future. And no falls so far, bonus. I am so happy for her and I don't have to worry about her all the time at the moment. The photos don't do it justice on this site, it's a fabulous new build now.

My mother moved to Maycroft in June, so she has only been a resident during Covid-19. I visited several care homes and was unhappy with how they proposed to manage the transition into care (my mother has dementia and is easily confused and overwhelmed). By contrast, the manager at Maycroft had a thoughtful and dementia-friendly approach that focused on a gentle introduction for my mother to key staff, with daily video calls to me. As a result, my mother had an extremely positive start at Maycroft - she felt wanted, involved and excited to be there. She has been there for three months, and I visit her every week. I also receive photos and videos on most days. My mother is happier than she has been for years. She has many friends, and always says that 'everyone is kind'. She leads such a busy life. In the last three months she has done: flower-arranging, kept fit, choir, arts and crafts, scrabble, quizzes, hula-hooping, walking and birdwatching. It has exceeded my expectations.

My mother has been at Maycroft for over a year and at all times has received excellent care. The home is relatively small and has a real 'family' feel and I cannot praise it enough. All the staff are amazing and truly do care for the residents. Entertainment and activities are provided every day and everyone is included whatever their ability. Trips out are also arranged frequently. There is always someone to talk to if I have any concerns and I regularly receive pictures on a messaging platform showing me how my mother is getting on, and what she has been up to. The staff have hardly changed in the 18 months my mother has been here and when I talk to them, they all say it is because they love their job and the residents at Maycroft. What better recommendation can you get?

I have been qualified as a Registered Nurse since 1997 in my home country Philippines. Before I moved in the UK I was working in a Singapore hospital.

I count myself fortunate to have gained so much valuable experience. My career in the Care sector started 17 years ago and I have held a range of positions.

Before joining Maycroft I was working in one of Advinia’s homes in Norfolk as a Deputy Manager.

Whilst working in care I have been lucky enough to receive several awards. In 2021, I was a Regional Finalist in the Great British Awards East of England for Frontline leader. This year I was a Finalist for Inspirational Senior Care Worker in Star of Social Care awards.

For me, this is not only a job but a vocation. I have a passion for making a difference in people's lives and for our residents to have compassionate and quality care. To always make sure that their well-being is being prioritized. To do my absolute best to make sure that they are being treated with dignity and respect.

I look forward to seeing Maycroft continue to grow and to supporting our lovely residents and my colleagues as that happens.

I’m fully committed to our person-centred approach to wellbeing, as I believe every resident is an individual with their own unique story and life experiences.

Although I’ve only been in this role for around eight months, I’ve loved the challenge of getting to know what makes each of our residents tick. My background in psychology and memory research has been invaluable, it helps me recognise potential barriers to engagement and find creative ways to overcome them.

We aim to provide a wide variety of activities that are both stimulating and meaningful, always listening to and observing our residents so we can adapt to their needs and preferences.

Caring for the wellbeing of our residents is not only fulfilling but incredibly rewarding, every smile and moment of connection reminds me why I love what I do.
