In supporting my son-in-law and daughter in choosing a care home for a much loved mum, I was acutely aware of the responsibility. Our experience of Maycroft has shown us that the decision was the right one and that she is now having the best quality of life that she can achieve. Of course, the basics
like tasty nourishing food and warm, clean and welcoming surroundings are vitally important, but Maycroft has an experienced and caring team of staff that certainly go the extra mile. Unfailingly kind and cheerful and with a clear mission to ensure that all their residents are supported to live as interesting and rewarding lives as is possible. It is also warming to see how much family and friends are encouraged to be part of the Maycroft community and to feel welcome at all times.

My father was resident at Maycroft as he suffered from Alzheimers, and he sadly died there. Throughout his stay however he was treated with dignity and respect by really caring staff. The support shown to him, and to all the family, at a very difficult time was hugely appreciated. There is a lot of
love in Maycroft and we would highly recommend it to others who needed the help of this professional and extremely compassionate team. Thank you.

I have visited Maycroft for about a year now with my dog. I have a nursing background and am impressed with the team leaders in particular. Their enthusiasm and care filters through the team.

The care is very good in the home, with appropriate activities provided for residents. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable with en-suite facilities which are very good. The food is also good and the residents all seem happy living at Maycroft.

The manager runs a tight ship and leads an excellent team. She and all the carers, cooks, maintenance staff, volunteer drivers and others who visit to lead activities are genuinely caring and respectful and treat everyone with dignity. I am particularly impressed with the attention paid to meals. Food
is always freshly prepared and served in an environment conducive to eating and enjoying food. Tables laid with linen and cutlery, flowers, drinking glasses/cups, condiments. Each resident is always asked individually what they want and can indicate their choice verbally or by pointing. People who cannot manage themselves are fed by very diligent carers on a one-to-one basis and it takes as long as it takes. Few older people want to ‘end up’ in care and is difficult for relatives and loved ones. My experience of Maycroft over the last 6 months is that everything possible is done to ensure people enjoy life as much as possible and live in a safe, secure, stimulating and comfortable home.

Maycroft is a wonderful place. The staff are truly excellent and go out of their way to provide a superb standard of care. The atmosphere at Maycroft is ‘home from home’ - it feels very homely and not in any way institutional. The planning and attention to detail which has gone into the new building
is remarkable - it is light and airy and has been very tastefully decorated and furnished and the communal rooms and bedrooms are lovely. Having said that, however, it is the staff who make Maycroft what it is - nothing is too much trouble for them and they are really proactive in their approach to care. There is a wide range of activities and entertainment with trips arranged which try and cater for the individual’s interests. I have real peace of mind knowing that my sister is being very well cared for.

My mother moved to Maycroft a few months ago and is extremely happy there. The home provides 24-hour residential care and the staff are always most helpful, friendly and supportive. Numerous activities are available, both internal and external and these are well-tailored to meet the needs and requirements
of individuals.
The new building is superb and the staff are always on hand to offer guidance and advice, as and when necessary. The home is extremely secure (perhaps sometimes too secure when I'm trying to leave!) and is set in a lovely village environment with peaceful gardens. Thank you.

I would recommend Maycroft in Royston to anyone considering a care home. The manager and the team looked after my Father for over a year and he was very happy there. The team are caring, conscientious and professional and the new facilities are delightful.

This is a gem of a care home. The staff are lovely and caring to residents. There are activities and it’s great to see that residents are taken for days out and not stuck inside. The home also has events that include the families, such as the summer fete which is a great event for the families to mix.
Can't wait until they move into the new purpose built building.

Maycroft couldn't be better. I felt totally secure in the knowledge that my dad was being treated with the utmost kindness and retained his dignity at all times. From the manager to the kitchen staff, I never saw anything other than kindness. I must say that the home intended to myself when the end

My husband has been a GP all his life, loved by his patients. He took an early retirement because of the computers. He couldn't grip fast enough this new tool. At 60 he started to lose interest in life. We moved close to Canterbury to be closer to the Eurostar to live in Belgium where I came from. Unfortunately,
he got lost often and was diagnosed with dementia. Myself, I had macular degeneration and both of us couldn't drive a car. Farewell projects in Belgium! My husband got worse to an extent I couldn't deal with looking after him. We approached Maycroft and were convinced by what we saw, a very caring atmosphere.

I feel that residents are treated with kindness and respect and visitors are made to feel welcome. All the staff we have met have been warm and friendly towards us. I like the fact that residents have a proper structure to their day and feel this is especially helpful to those with dementia. Activities
provided are as inclusive as possible and residents are taken on outings from time to time. The new home on the same site is nearing completion and promises lovely new facilities for residents. This, plus a wonderful team of staff should make Maycroft a good place to live and work!

My stepfather is in the home and well looked after we visit most weeks and are always welcomed. We take our grandchildren, my stepfathers great-grandchildren and they are also welcomed. The youngest (2 and a half) loves to go and see all the other "old people" as he calls them. My grandson and myself
even joined in the " keep fit" session and the lady that took it didn't mind a bit even though my grandson seemed to have taken over. Can't fault the place all the residents seem happy and well cared for.

I was in need of a much needed holiday and my dad is not able to stay at home alone for long periods of time so my dad reluctantly went into Maycroft for 10 days. Well he thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of his experience from all the activities which go on there to the food and the social aspect as
well. He said he would love to go again! And when the times come I hope he will be able to go there permanently. The staff are very friendly and caring to the residents.

From the moment I arrive until the time I leave, I am made to feel very welcome.
Carers are always very helpful, kind and considerate.
I always see the carers speaking kindly to residents and treating them with respect and dignity.
Drinks always being offered (tea, coffee, squash) not only to residents

It was a pleasure every time I visited Maycroft recently to see my dear friend, not only was I welcomed by staff but I was offered refreshments everytime I visited. The staff team appear experienced and very kind in their interactions with all in the home. Frequently I experienced entertainment or

The care given was excellent. The staff are friendly, courteous, kind and fully capable of looking after the needs of the residents. My mother regained her strength and ability to walk with her walker after becoming so weak in hospital.
The food is excellent and my mother ate very well whilst she
was there. She enjoyed her time there. I would recommend Maycroft without any reservations.

My grandmother spent a month at the care home following discharge from hospital to recuperate before going home. Her mobility was very poor following her hospital stay, though within a month of help and encouragement from staff, she regained her mobility with a wheeled walker at the home. The staff
were caring and the food was plentiful and I was even offered food at lunchtime when I went to visit her. She was content and happy with her stay at the home and I would highly recommend. With my personal profession, I have had plenty of dealings with care homes over the years and some are vastly better than others. I can honestly say it was well worth the time my grandmother stayed here and this home is one of those vastly better care homes and I thank them for the time and effort they provided to my grandmother during her stay.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have been qualified as a Registered Nurse since 1997 in my home country Philippines. Before I moved in the UK I was working in a Singapore hospital.


I count myself fortunate to have gained so much valuable experience. My career in the Care sector started 17 years ago and I have held a range of positions.


Before joining Maycroft I was working in one of Advinia’s homes in Norfolk as a Deputy Manager.


Whilst working in care I have been lucky enough to receive several awards. In 2021, I was a Regional Finalist in the Great British Awards East of England for Frontline leader. This year I was a Finalist for Inspirational Senior Care Worker in Star of Social Care awards.


For me, this is not only a job but a vocation. I have a passion for making a difference in people's lives and for our residents to have compassionate and quality care. To always make sure that their well-being is being prioritized. To do my absolute best to make sure that they are being treated with dignity and respect.


I look forward to seeing Maycroft continue to grow and to supporting our lovely residents and my colleagues as that happens.

Job Title: Wellbeing Coordinator

I’m fully committed to our person-centred approach to wellbeing, as I believe every resident is an individual with their own unique story and life experiences.


Although I’ve only been in this role for around eight months, I’ve loved the challenge of getting to know what makes each of our residents tick. My background in psychology and memory research has been invaluable, it helps me recognise potential barriers to engagement and find creative ways to overcome them.


We aim to provide a wide variety of activities that are both stimulating and meaningful, always listening to and observing our residents so we can adapt to their needs and preferences.


Caring for the wellbeing of our residents is not only fulfilling but incredibly rewarding, every smile and moment of connection reminds me why I love what I do.
