Recognised as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in February 2021, and located in the peaceful village of Bottisham, just six miles from Cambridge and Newmarket, MHA Queens Court is at the heart of the local community. The home provide residential and dementia care for up to 55 residents in modern en-suite accommodation.

There are a variety of shops, a popular takeaway, and a well-loved fish and chip shop nearby, convenience is never far away. Queens Court enjoys strong ties with the Bottisham Social Club, with residents regularly engaging in social activities. The home’s secure gardens feature four courtyards filled with plants and shaded by mature walnut and apple trees, providing a peaceful space for the ‘Pot Gang’ gardening group to enjoy.

Situated in a peaceful cul-de-sac and surrounded by bungalows, the newly refurbished home has been a central part of the community for over fifty years. The home is made up of smaller ‘flatlets’ designed for groups of eight or sixteen people. Each unit has its own kitchen, lounge, and dining area, with a mix of en-suite and separate bathrooms. Whether for residential, dementia, or short-stay care, every resident receives tailored support to ensure they live later life to the fullest.

Queen's Court provided care for my father for 14 months, until his recent death, and at all times my mother and I felt included in decision making, cheered by the quality of care he received, and supported during difficult times. Dad's care was not always straightforward, and it was extremely important
to us to be able to discuss the best way for things to be done - and then to see new ideas put into practice. The team in Osborne flat, where Dad lived, are amongst the kindest people you could ever hope to meet. The atmosphere is calm and gentle. Residents interact well with one another and the carers manage, somehow, to make sure everyone receives attention when they need it. This was a difficult time for us as a family, but the support we received, and the affection shown for Dad, as well as the steady good quality care he was given, made it all much easier. We will miss the Queen's Court team. Thank you.

The care home has a happy atmosphere - all residents I have met seem cheerful and well presented, clean and well cared for. Carers are generally attentive, caring and kind. They are very respectful of each resident. Unfortunately, there does seem to be staff shortages at weekends - mainly agency staff
used. People are kind and caring but no continuity for residents - particularly difficult for residents with dementia - they get confused and scared.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. We encourage families to dress residents' rooms with recognisable belongings from their home, to make each room individual and homely. Queens Court has had difficulties recruiting and there has been the use of agency staff, across the whole week, not just at weekends. Where possible we use the same agency staff to provide a consistent approach.

My late father had been a resident at Queen's Court for just over a year, during which time my wife and I got to know many of the staff following visits and phone calls. Dad was treated with kindness and respect and our calls were always met with good-humoured kindness and nothing was too much trouble
i.e., taking a phone to him so we could chat. Those lovely ladies made Queens Court dad's home and did all they could. At the end of his life, the staff met all his needs with care, compassion and professionalism.

My mother's family are extremely pleased with the care she is receiving in the care home. The staff treat her as an individual with respect and dignity. Mum has been made to feel inclusive and part of the bigger family of staff and residents in the home. After Mum's first year she seems very settled,

The staff are very attentive to residents' needs and keep family informed of any medical issues, calling out to the GP without hesitation and notifying the family of falls etc. They always do their best to offer varied activities. They take care to treat residents with dignity and ensure cleanliness
of rooms and residents.

My mother has been a resident at Queen's Court for almost three years and during that time, she has received wonderful care. The staff are all friendly, approachable and caring. They treat my mother as an individual and know exactly how to reassure her when she is anxious. The food is of a high standard.
Activities are available; encouraged but not forced if she doesn't wish to take part. Relatives are made to feel welcome and part of the family of Queen's Court. I feel very lucky that we found this care home through a recommendation from a friend.

My mother has been a resident here for exactly a year. During this time I have never once felt that she is unsafe, never once heard or saw the staff becoming angry, annoyed or disrespectful to any of the residents. Management are always helpful, will listen, advise and inform about my mother's health
or behaviour.... And as a result, I can continue with my work and family life knowing that my mother is receiving first class care and attention when I can't be with her.

My father received superb care at Queen's Court for the last few weeks of his life. All the staff were extremely sensitive to both his needs and the needs of the family. Care staff found time to interact with him very positively and demonstrated great empathy. When one member of staff was not quite
as positive as he could have been, the manager dealt with the situation quickly and effectively. When I went on holiday, the manager kept in touch by email and provided excellent communication.

I am extremely pleased with the care mum receives at Queen's Court. Before she came to Queen's Court I was always worried when I left her. Now I know she is being properly cared for by people who really do care about her welfare and are giving her the total care and support she needs.

absolutely lovely to my mum and really care about her welfare. The home has a relaxed, friendly, open and warm atmosphere. I always feel welcome when I visit and I'd like to extend my thanks to all the staff at Queen's Court.

Yvonne Dawson is the Home Manager at MHA Queens Court, bringing 34 years of experience in the care sector. She began her career as a part-time care assistant and progressed through roles including Assistant Manager, Home Manager, and ultimately Area Manager, a position held for 10 years. During this time, Yvonne led services across a wide range of client groups, including learning disabilities, mental health, mother and baby units, homelessness services, and elderly care, always maintaining a strong focus on registered care and support for older people. Ten years ago, Yvonne chose to return to her roots in elder care, bringing with her a wealth of leadership experience and a deeply person-centred approach.


Under Yvonne’s guidance, Queens Court achieved a prestigious “Outstanding” rating from the CQC in 2019—an accomplishment that reflects the dedication and compassion of the whole team.
