Dorrington House at Watton is a purpose-built home for older people, established in July 1999.

Accommodation is provided in single rooms with en-suite facilities and communal areas include a bright and airy lounge with large windows. There is a large flat screen television in this all the lounges for residents to enjoy and all entertainment takes place in this room, including the use of smart TV facilities. There are also two smaller quieter lounges for residents to use if they prefer. A bar area for residents to use is run by 'Friends of the Home'.

There is good Wi-Fi coverage at the home with video visiting and online care plans available. All areas of the home are accessible, including a large 21 person lift.

Communal areas far exceed the Government's new standards, meeting the physical and emotional needs of residents with privacy, dignity, choice and independence. A large lift provides access to the first floor and a varied menu is offered with special diets catered for, including diabetic, vegetarian and religious requirements and more.

I arrived overnight from my bungalow so miss all my everyday necessities. I have three sons, the eldest looks after my money affairs. Three church friends look after my personal needs. I share lunchtimes with the lady next door, we go down to the dining room in the lift. I am a person of habit and like

Very supportive and helpful especially as I live in New Zealand and have been struggling to speak to my dad in hospital prior to arriving here. Very flexible and like that I can bring my dad's belongings in for him from home.

Dad has been here just under one month as respite care. He has dementia which is very unsettling for him. I am very impressed with the staff and the way they are dealing with Dad. They are contacting various health care professionals in an attempt to help him and make him more settled. We are extending
his stay.

My mum’s dementia had reached a point where she was scared and confused. So we rang Dorrington House who found a place for mum that day.
We have been concerned for a while about her weight and had a family campaign for mum to put on weight. She has been in Dorrington House for just under a month and
has put on 4 lbs in weight. Congratulations and well done. Thank you everyone.

I was recently contacted by staff from Dorrington House (Watton) Care Home, informing me that my father had a grade 3 wound developed on his left foot which had required a visit from the district nurse. This concerned me as there had been no previous contact regarding the issue and any reason for this.
I am concerned that the wound was discovered and not treated appropriately and in time before it deteriorated. I visited the home on Saturday 18th February 2023 and found there were no clinical or management members of staff to enquire about the issue.

I have always been so happy for my mother being here at Dorrington House (Watton) Care Home. I couldn't have wished for a better place for her to be in. The staff have gone out of their way to give my mother everything she needs during her stay here and nothing is too much trouble. I can positively

I do like the home, most staff are attentive. One member of staff was asked to take my mother-in-law to the toilet but as she had a pad on, our pleas were ignored. Food seems to be nutritional and my mother-in-law loves them. Communication could be a little better with family members but on the whole,
good.

Mainly happy with our visits to my dad here, but recently there have been small things to speak to the office about, such as the toilet not flushing and the bed not made. Often these things are one-offs, but they keep happening. I have emailed these problems directly to the office, so hopefully, they
will be looked at.
