My mother was against going to a care home and did not agree to go until the family was totally unable to care for her at home. Mum had bowel cancer and many other problems, toileting became a major issue. My brother and I chose St Mary's after much consideration and have blessed our choice to the day mum died. Mum was in St Mary's for 10 months in which time she was made to know and feel it was her home. Her wishes were upheld, it was clear to us that mum was treated with as much dignity and care as possible always considering mum's needs and requirements. Yes there were times when the overworked staff found it difficult but they always had a smile and nice words of encouragement when needed. My brother and I visited every day and were with mum for 10 days at the end 24 hrs a day. We saw how hard the staff worked but they still made time when we were upset to talk with us as well as mum it was obvious that they cared and showed compassion. Our sincere thanks to all carers night and day staff and management for taking such good care of our mother. You have a happy caring home keep up the good work you do a wonderful job.

We would like to thank you all so much for the care and support that you gave our Mother over the last 10 months she was with you.
You excelled all our expectations with the level of care given from when our mother came to St Mary’s to the day that she passed away on the 12th January 2016. Sadly the public only hear the bad things about care homes, you should all be proud that your care home is excellent and it is clear that you all do care for your residents and do your very best in what must be difficult circumstances.
It is a great shame that you all are not more financially rewarded for the tasks that you undertake as you are all special people to do the job that you do and we are so grateful that you were there for us and made our mothers last months as happy and cared for as ever possible.

You touch so many people’s hearts in your work with the support that you give to the residents and their families, keep up this good work and keep St Mary’s the happy place we found it to be thanks to your wonderful staff.

St Mary's is sometimes quite smelly! The change over in staff is huge! When on my last visit I was informed nine new people were starting, not due to not enough staff but to replace staff that have left! My aunt is bed bound, but quite aware of all of her surroundings. Her room is quite untidy and has a dirty carpet! Some staff are really caring. Not enough for patients to do! No stimulation.

I have worked in Care for around 10 years. I previously worked as a Deputy working with adults with physical and learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health conditions. One of my passions is Mental Health and Well-Being. I went to university in Cambridge where I received my degree in Abnormal and Clinical Psychology. I am Level 5 qualified and a Mental Health First Aider. I hope to do a Masters Degree in one of these fields. Outside of work I try and spend time with my friends as often as I can and enjoy attending as many concerts as I can.

I have always wanted to work in a setting where I am able to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Since starting Kingsley everyone has been very welcoming. We have a great team here who put the lives of the residents at the forefront of everything they do. I am very excited for my future with Kinglsey and where it will take me.

I have worked in administration and office management for many years. Although I had worked across the NHS and the private care sector, I had taken a break from this professional area of work. Joining St Mary's has just been amazing. It's a great feeling being central at reception in seeing staff, residents and family. No one day is the same. We have an amazing team supporting all of our residents. Outside of work my family our my focus.

I worked in the Holiday Park industry for 20 years, covering roles such as show team singer to Entertainments Manager, before moving over to Events Co-ordinator for those who owned their own holiday homes. After first-hand experience of finding care for a family member, I decided I would like to be a part of the care home sector to try and enrich the day-to-day lives of residents who live there, and so in January 2025, I joined the team at St Mary's Care Home. I enjoy providing a variety of activities that encourage and assist our residents to socialise and keep their independence through joining in. I enjoy spending time with the residents and getting to know them and their families. The atmosphere at St Mary's is a lovely balance of friendship and care between everyone who lives, works and visits our home.

Outside of wor,k I enjoy spending time with my family, my dog Molly and travelling.
