My father-in-law is very happy at Barchester The Warren Care Home. He is cared for by a happy and professional staff. He joins in with the regular entertainment and especially enjoys the scrabble club and regular outings in the minibus.

Barchester The Warren Care Home have looked after my father in an excellent manner over the past five years. The catering, housekeeping and entertainment staff are all very professional with the interest of the resident at heart. Dad was recently taken to an RAF base in Lincolnshire to have afternoon tea with King Charles.

The Warren was my aunt's home for the last year of her life. She lived the best life ever at the centre. She loved the activities especially if they involved animals, ate beautifully prepared food and was tended by the best team ever assembled. The family are treated so well, cups of tea and coffee and offer us food. I can't praise The Warren enough. She was respected, pampered, loved and dignified until the very end.

Reply from Kirstie Tifrani, Activities Co-ordinator at Barchester Warren Care Home

Thank you for your kind words, It was our absolute pleasure to care for your Aunt in her final years. I remember how much she loved our Christmas activities and the Animal Therapy experiences. She loved to join in the activities where she could and did live her best life to the full.

This was my mum's first stay in residential care while her home was refurbished. The carers and enriching staff were amazing, and so caring, nothing was too much trouble. It was so reassuring to know Mum was so well supported and cared for. What a great team at The Warren.

My lovely Nanny joined The Warren in December 2021 for a 2-week respite stay and she decided to stay after this. My nanny enjoyed the last year of her life at The Warren where she was treated by the most wonderful empathetic team of people. We will be forever grateful for the love, care and dedication and companionship she received.

The staff that care and interact with my mother are very attentive to her needs and you can clearly see that they have great love for all of the residents. Senior staff are particularly thorough with specific care and medication and listen to any additional family and resident needs, especially their “ways”.
The meals offered are of a wide variety and nutritional, and age-appropriate with the chef being attentive to any additional requirements.

Activities organised at the home are particularly enjoyable for my mother, with staff always thinking about what the residents will enjoy, they update their social media platform regularly with photos that the whole family love to see. The worry of how my mother is cared for in the later stages of her life has certainly lessened whilst being at The Warren.

My husband was in The Warren Care Home for two weeks of respite following an 8 week's stay in the hospital. During this time he was treated really well by all staff. He settled during his stay and attended some of the Christmas events which he enjoyed. The Warren being all on one level was a very safe environment for him to be in as he likes to wander about and he is used to a bungalow at home. He went to the dining room for his and mixed with other residents too which helped his well-being during his stay.

Dad went into the home in a pretty poor state and at first, withdrew into his own world. The staff managed to bring Dad out with their happy, caring and positive attitudes. I'm sure that he now feels like part of a big happy family. The staff are all very caring and pull his leg frequently but always with respect. Thank you.

Our family had to make a sudden decision to seek respite for my father-in-law after a period of ill health. We rang The Warren and they were extremely accommodating. We had a settling-in period after a hospital visit. The staff were in contact with us and my father-in-law's care through this time was outstanding. The staff always make us welcome and my father-in-law is happy, safe and settled.

My father has been in The Warren for over 2 1/2 years. He entered with a diagnosis of six to nine months to live. His care and the respect the staff have been wonderful. He is now ebbing towards his life end and I can honestly say the staff care for him and me too. Sometimes there are not enough staff, to my mind. Sometimes the telephone, late in the day does not get answered, which can be frustrating. Overall I am happy Dad is here. The staff are exceptional!

Review from Carol P (Respite Resident) published on 23 June 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The Warren is a first-class care home. I spent four weeks here while convalescing. I am an atypical resident, as I am normally a fit and healthy 74-year-old woman living an independent life. I never expected to be in a care home, but the experience has been very enjoyable. My family and I were impressed from the outset by the detailed and comprehensive assessment of my needs while in recovery. All the care staff are attentive, caring and knowledgable about the needs of every resident. Some residents are “difficult”, but the staff have found effective ways of coping with them.
A new chef has been appointed and is keen to develop a new menu in consultation with the residents’ committee. The activities coordinators are enthusiastic and creative, and the admin assistant has provided invaluable assistance to me.

In summary, I cannot fault this care home and would happily live here as a permanent resident should the need arise

Mum moved into Barchester The Warren Care Home on the first day of lockdown in March 2020 and received excellent care from the start. Outings were limited due to various spells of lockdown, but she joined in every activity on offer. The activities were varied and interesting, and she tried many things she'd never attempted before. In her last few weeks, she was surrounded by the love and care of all the staff, they became her extended family and we are so grateful to them all.
