Allonsfield House has been caring for my Dad for about 5 months now and we are very happy with the quality of care he is receiving. The staff and management are extremely kind, professional and very attentive to Dad's needs. They are also very supportive of my Mum and I. The environment is light and airy and welcoming with access to lovely outdoor spaces including a small farm.

Professional, friendly and have the knowledge and resources to keep residents engaged and safe.
My dad could be difficult at times due to his dementia and they had the training and the compassion to keep everyone safe. Dad was well looked after during difficult times, the care was also directed to his family. Sadly my dad's illness took him too quickly but, at all times his dignity was upheld.
So many names I could mention that went above and beyond, the manager Bebe and Debbie the deputy manager always had an open door policy, any worries, concerns or upsets were discussed and promises kept.
I have told them many times how thankful I am for their care and honesty towards my dad and us as a family, I can only hope that if a family are considering Allonsfield for their loved one, that this review will help them decide.

Thank you Allonsfield for making the last few months of my dad's life a safe one, and for allowing me to remain his daughter and not his carer.

Review from Huw G (Friend of Resident) published on 9 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Living some considerable distance from Allonsfield House, I initially had to rely upon telephone contact to speak to an old friend with dementia who was resident at the home. I was always spoken to politely by members of the staff who connected me with my friend and we were able to have a conversation. I subsequently visited the home on a number of occasions and found the staff friendly , caring towards the residents and the home was clean and appeared well maintained. I managed to send birthday and Xmas gifts to my friend and was assisted with this by Ben and Victoria who were most helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Myself and my wife came to Allonsfield approximately two years ago and staff here have been enormous support to us. My wife used to love dancing, which she enjoyed with staff member who then was a nurse now became a manager who likes to ensure that resident are treat it with dignity and respect. I only have good things to say about Allonsfield as a facility and members of staff I have had contact with. Mother went into Allonsfield late 2015 and over the years I have had contact with a changing work force. There still remains a few employees from the start and I have never had a problem with anyone and nothing has ever been a problem that can not be resolved in that time. Allonsfield has always been able to accommodate mothers ever changing condition. Last week I visited with my sister and it was not possible to sit with mother in the common room, but two members of staff realised this and moved mother to a side room making her comfortable and allowing us to have room to be with her. We have always had the option to have space from other residents, there are so many options. Many thanks to all the staff for their care, dedication and input to a wonderful care home.

My mother entered Allonsfield for end-of-life care after suffering a number of small strokes. We were given a very positive view of the home when we attended an open day in December and then had to call at short notice to request a room. The staff visited us promptly and Mum was admitted the next day. The nursing section is purpose-built, beautifully appointed with up-to-date equipment. The bedrooms are spacious, well-designed and ensuite. The large day room is bright, light and furnished to a high standard. My mother was made very welcome in the nursing section and during her stay was given a high level of individual attention. The medical and personal care she received was first-class. The staff were skilled at communicating to us the changes in my mother's condition and always took the time to ensure that both she and her visitors were comfortable. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated and she died peacefully with us by her side after a stay of two weeks. Highly recommended.

It was a real shock when my husband and I were both in hospital and it was deemed that he must go into care, not home - I was recovering from pneumonia, then they said heart failure - and unable to give the care my husband deserved.

I could not wish for a better 'substitute home' for him, everyone, yes everyone shows such care even though they must at times be so weary. They are marvellous.

Myself and Billy (my border collie) are volunteer visitors for Therapy Dogs Nationwide. You will see Billy's picture on the website (I'm not as photogenic), he loves to visit and meet the residents. When we are there we access all areas of the home, so everybody who wants a stroke of his soft coat gets the opportunity. It's especially nice for those who miss their own dogs, and the fact that he is happy to help with the dispatch of biscuits makes everybody happy. He and I are welcomed by residents and staff, and we have a chat and a fuss. Billy is a very friendly and easygoing dog, spending a lot of time sitting on the feet of residents - he likes to get close. The staff, without exception, are friendly and welcoming of us. I do hope that we bring some pleasure.

Reply from Hayley Salter, Home Manager at Allonsfield House Nursing Home

We all love to see Billy, who brings great comfort to our residents and staff and we look forward to his visits to have a cuddle and sneak him a biscuit. The joy in the resident's faces when they see him coming is so heartwarming and your visits are so valuable. This could not happen without you, of course, so thank you.
