Very good as it was a short notice stay for emergency respite, the staff were very good, dealt with food very well for someone who is wheat and gluten-free. Would recommend this care home to anyone who is looking for a place for their loved ones.

I write as the stepdaughter whose stepmother spent three weeks in respite care at Allonsfield in April 2023. I felt the care my stepmother received was excellent. She had no complaints to me during her stay and had she been unhappy at all she would have let me know. Of course, she wanted to get back
to her home but having broken her arm and having early dementia she needed respite care. From my first enquiry as to there being a vacancy, to getting her to the home and eventually discharging her everything rang very smoothly. I found the staff friendly and had the feeling nothing was too much trouble. It was always clean and there were no unpleasant smells or the odour of trying to mask any smells. I therefore, recommend Allonsfield Care Home with pleasure.

On the whole am very satisfied with the care my mother receives. There are some very strong points, flexibility, understanding and respect with regards to the resident and residents' family wishes. The majority of carers are good with several being excellent and the homely family atmosphere. There is
one less strong point, some carers have not been good or interested in communicating with my mother and communication has been purely functional. The quality of carers is inconsistent (some are excellent and some rather poor) Overall the care is very good though.

Vastly improved since coming here.
All our likes like food, very well presented. The staff take great care with all aspects. The social side is now excellent and very well carried out. One of the best things is company transport to take us out. This is the best thing for those who can't walk and these
have no one to help. Both our sons live in the USA, this means a change of scene! Very important.

I have always found the home very well run and the staff considerate to both residents and visitors. Might I suggest putting up a cover over the front door, when staff are busy it takes a while for the front door to be answered - miserable when raining.

My Aunt has been a resident at Allonsfield for 4 years and throughout there has always been a central core of caring, respectful and fun staff. However, at times I have felt Allonsfield has lacked adequate leadership and more recently (like many other homes) sufficient levels of staff. I am delighted
to say that all my concerns have either been addressed or are in the process of being remedied. Quarterly meetings are held for residents/family to express any concerns or desires. Our suggestions are properly listened to, actively encouraged and often acted upon when appropriate/possible. New staff members have been recruited and seem well qualified for this demanding vocation. In addition to puzzles, games and colouring books easily located within the home I was informed yesterday that a second activities person was joining the team very shortly so I am really looking forward to seeing pre-pandemic levels of activity. Well done team my visit yesterday was a delight!

Absolutely atrocious place.
Arranged for my 89-year-old father to stay here due to the fact that it seemed nice and clean and they had an on-site farm. Within weeks of his arrival, the place lost their manager and administrator. He spent 8 of 12 weeks in covid lockdown as the staff team repeatedly
failed to enact government guidance (and would regularly tell me they didn't bother to read the guidance). His clothes went missing almost immediately and he never had enough clean clothes or pyjamas.
He was constantly left alone in his room and zero activities were provided. To top it all they left him in chronic pain when his gout flared up and refused to note or record our requests to get him appropriate medical treatment. When we did visit there would often be no drinking water in his room.
In the end, we couldn't wait to get him out of there and he is now in a wonderful care home which is genuinely amazing and has staff that really do care about their residents.

Also if you have any concerns for your loved ones please do not hesitate to contact the manager of the service or one of the Operations Team as we wish to reassure you that the service we provide is both professional and caring. We are sorry that we were unable to resolve our differences with the family. We receive very few complaints and while recognising we are not perfect we always try to do our best and invariably we are able to resolve matters quickly with any relative expressing a concern.


We advised the family of our complaints policy and procedure and as we were unable to resolve the complaint with them we advised them of their right to involve the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman at this moment in time is considering the situation and has not made a judgement.


COVID-19 pandemic was a difficult time for residents/relatives and staff. Where we had an outbreak within the home we followed current guidance by Public Health England and consulted with and worked with the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and also the Local Authority, (LA). We regularly advised relatives through e-mails of the situation during the time of the home being closed. The UKHSA, LA and no other person or body have been critical of our management of the COVID process which was always delivered for the safety of service users staff and relatives. We advised all relatives of the Essential Care Giver guidance in order to help them to visit their relatives which was always facilitated.

My mother moved into the nursing unit at Allonsfield House Nursing Home having suffered a severe stroke several months earlier although she sadly died within a month of becoming a resident. There is a good atmosphere in the centre and the staff are all warm and friendly and seem to care deeply about
the people they look after. My mother needed quite high-level nursing assistance and I believe that was provided effectively and with compassion. The staff also asked about me and how I was managing and I really appreciated that. The facilities are good and the rooms in the nursing unit are well maintained and each has a door with direct access to the outside, which is a huge benefit to someone who is bed-bound. I believe that animals have a huge positive influence on the mental health of people. Although my Mother could not benefit personally from the small farm associated with the centre I saw it as a tremendous asset.

So glad that we found Allonsfield House when Dad's needs finally became too much for Mum and helpers at home. We looked at other homes but Allonsfield was the perfect place for my lovely dad. We found the staff to be kind, friendly, efficient, and welcoming, taking a real interest in those they care
for. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad was happy and relaxed here, able to walk all day if he wanted. He enjoyed the human company and the visits from baby goats etc brought in from the home's little farm for residents to pet and bottle feed! The home itself is full of light, bright, clean, and airy rooms all with views of and access to the central garden, a lovely safe sunny space. We often met Dad in the conservatory, sitting in bright, modern comfortable chairs - it felt very homely and relaxing as does the whole place. The carpeted corridors keep sound muted. All the residents and staff that I met seemed happy to be there. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness to Dad and our family.

My mother moved into Allonsfield to have respite care but is now a permanent resident. I am very impressed with the standard of care she has received. The staff are kind and patient and they have been quick to follow up with any medical concerns and referrals. I chose this home because of the confidence

My mum entered Allonsfield care home when her Alzheimer's became difficult to manage in her own home. Once she had settled in, she flourished with all the love, care, support and dignity that she received from all the wonderful staff. She was treated like a member of their own families and I always
felt welcome to visit whenever I wished (prior to Covid-19) and the latter months. She passed away peacefully in her own bed in the home she loved.

My mother has been living at Allonsfield for 16 months now and I cannot praise the management and all the staff enough. The care home is always clean and has a fresh smell about it. Mum has Alzheimer's along with very poor eyesight and hearing. The care she receives is outstanding. The staff are considerate,
very caring and happy. The menu choices and food are very good. Mum enjoys the activities provided including dancing and singing. She is very well cared for and I thank all members of staff.

I started my career in the care industry and soon realised my passion was nursing. I have acquired considerable experience working for the NHS in various positions as well as in private care homes. Since joining Kingsley, I have progressed from Clinical Lead Nurse to Home Manager at Woodbridge, before moving to Allonsfield. I love the support you get from a family-run company, and I am blessed with a great team. Outside work, I love reading and gardening and enjoy travelling.

I joined Allonsfield House in 2022 as a Care Coordinator, bringing with me a wealth of experience from a background in children’s fostering. My natural compassion, leadership, and dedication to person-centred care were quickly recognised, and I progressed to the role of Deputy Manager. I’m deeply passionate about delivering high-quality care and supporting both residents and staff. My fostering background has given me a strong sense of empathy and commitment, which I bring into every aspect of my role. I take pride in helping to maintain the warm, supportive environment that makes Allonsfield House such a special place to live and work. With a strong focus on dignity, respect, and individual well-being, I continue to support and inspire my team to ensure our residents receive the highest standard of care.

I gained several years of experience managing hotels throughout East Anglia before joining the team at Allonsfield House as hospitality manager. I am a qualified Holistic Therapist, Sound Therapist and Reiki Master and in my spare time also enjoy gardening, road cycling and walking my rescue dog Denzil.

I have been working here at Allonsfield for two and a half years. However, I have worked in the care sector for 17 years in many different roles and I can honestly say Allonsfield is the loveliest place I have worked. The residents make me smile every day and I enjoy having a “natter” and listening to their own and family history. My family are very important to me and I spend most of my spare time with my nephew and nieces and I love being Aunty Vic. I also like to watch crime dramas and documentaries.

I have been working here at Allonsfield for 15 years as head of housekeeping. I am organised and efficient, and I take great pride in my work to ensure the home is clean and presentable at all times. I really enjoy my work and I love being here for the residents, not only to help make a difference to their day, but also to see them smile.


In my spare time, I like to cook, and I enjoy watching wildlife documentaries, especially if they involve David Attenborough.
