Allonsfield House Nursing Home

I am very pleased with the care my wife has received, she has dementia, the care staff are excellent. My family and I are always welcomed when we visit. My wife enjoys singing and activities, she has settled in and is very happy. Thank you all for the care you are all giving my wife.

After over a 1 year of care, I can say I am pleased with my wife's care, particularly as her condition with her Lewy Body Syndrome, Macular Degeneration and Parkinson's. She is treated kindly by all the staff and I am pleased to recommend Allonsfiled House to my friends and contacts. Thank you all for her detailed care and kindness.

I could not wish for a better 'substitute home' for him, everyone, yes everyone shows such care even though they must at times be so weary. They are marvellous.

Myself and Billy (my border collie) are volunteer visitors for Therapy Dogs Nationwide. You will see Billy's picture on the website (I'm not as photogenic), he loves to visit and meet the residents. When we are there we access all areas of the home, so everybody who wants a stroke of his soft coat gets the opportunity. It's especially nice for those who miss their own dogs, and the fact that he is happy to help with the dispatch of biscuits makes everybody happy. He and I are welcomed by residents and staff, and we have a chat and a fuss. Billy is a very friendly and easygoing dog, spending a lot of time sitting on the feet of residents - he likes to get close. The staff, without exception, are friendly and welcoming of us. I do hope that we bring some pleasure.

The staff were kind, understanding and caring. A beautiful room which was clean and attention to detail was paid with regard to cleanliness and ensuring the bed was comfortable and in working order. Staff were knowledgeable with regard to the medicines required and worked closely with the local GP practice which we found reassuring. The assessment of need was accurate which enhanced staff knowing the needs and how to meet those needs but also to be able to person-centred care. Lovely food at the time of main meals and well supported by snacks

I think £6000 per month is too much for the tiny room she is in!

My aunt has now been at this care home for just over 4 years. When she first arrived the home was rated as outstanding, however over the last two years the standards have dropped significantly and now has a rating of satisfactory. The support staff have always been pleasant and I believe they work hard for what is essentially minimum wage. I have struggled with the management, there is no continuity and there is regular change with the home manager position, this is despite being assured this will not continue to happen. Costs have gone up on average 10% a year which is profiteering, and standards have dropped. My aunt's personal possessions have also gone missing, including a watch which had sentimental value. In general I'm very disappointed.

My aunt was moved from a nursing home in another area to be closer to family. It was a very big move for my 93-year-old aunt but everyone here at Allonsfield House has made everything so easy. The staff are so welcoming and caring, nothing is too much trouble. I have every confidence that my aunt will be very happy here.

Since my mother has been in the home she has received excellent care and kindness. The staff are so caring and kind.

Very lovely staff, polite and helpful. Best manager so far in the 3 years my nanny has been here. The receptionist is always so kind.

Allonsfield House Nursing Home has improved beyond measure recently because a new staff member has brought new life and vigour into the residents' everyday lives at the home. I have seen my mother's well-being and mental health improve. Today she has gone on a trip which I am sure she will enjoy.

Although busy, the staff are a fantastic asset. Attentive, kind and considerate in all aspects of care provision. This is reflected across the whole organisation at Allonsfield. All staff, from cleaners, the caterers, maintenance, carers and nurses, all showed a very positive outlook to residents, taking time to talk to residents and visitors.

Very good as it was a short notice stay for emergency respite, the staff were very good, dealt with food very well for someone who is wheat and gluten-free. Would recommend this care home to anyone who is looking for a place for their loved ones.

I write as the stepdaughter whose stepmother spent three weeks in respite care at Allonsfield in April 2023. I felt the care my stepmother received was excellent. She had no complaints to me during her stay and had she been unhappy at all she would have let me know. Of course, she wanted to get back to her home but having broken her arm and having early dementia she needed respite care. From my first enquiry as to there being a vacancy, to getting her to the home and eventually discharging her everything rang very smoothly. I found the staff friendly and had the feeling nothing was too much trouble. It was always clean and there were no unpleasant smells or the odour of trying to mask any smells. I therefore, recommend Allonsfield Care Home with pleasure.

My dad who has advanced dementia is well cared for by the staff who understand his needs. The home is a welcoming place with friendly staff and excellent facilities and caring staff.

On the whole am very satisfied with the care my mother receives. There are some very strong points, flexibility, understanding and respect with regards to the resident and residents' family wishes. The majority of carers are good with several being excellent and the homely family atmosphere. There is one less strong point, some carers have not been good or interested in communicating with my mother and communication has been purely functional. The quality of carers is inconsistent (some are excellent and some rather poor) Overall the care is very good though.

Allonsfield House is very good with care and attention. I recommend this lovely home, so good to be here.

All our likes like food, very well presented. The staff take great care with all aspects. The social side is now excellent and very well carried out. One of the best things is company transport to take us out. This is the best thing for those who can't walk and these have no one to help. Both our sons live in the USA, this means a change of scene! Very important.

I have always found the home very well run and the staff considerate to both residents and visitors. Might I suggest putting up a cover over the front door, when staff are busy it takes a while for the front door to be answered - miserable when raining.
