Allonsfield House Nursing Home

My Aunt has been a resident at Allonsfield for 4 years and throughout there has always been a central core of caring, respectful and fun staff. However, at times I have felt Allonsfield has lacked adequate leadership and more recently (like many other homes) sufficient levels of staff. I am delighted to say that all my concerns have either been addressed or are in the process of being remedied. Quarterly meetings are held for residents/family to express any concerns or desires. Our suggestions are properly listened to, actively encouraged and often acted upon when appropriate/possible. New staff members have been recruited and seem well qualified for this demanding vocation. In addition to puzzles, games and colouring books easily located within the home I was informed yesterday that a second activities person was joining the team very shortly so I am really looking forward to seeing pre-pandemic levels of activity. Well done team my visit yesterday was a delight!

In the end, we couldn't wait to get him out of there and he is now in a wonderful care home which is genuinely amazing and has staff that really do care about their residents.

My mother moved into the nursing unit at Allonsfield House Nursing Home having suffered a severe stroke several months earlier although she sadly died within a month of becoming a resident. There is a good atmosphere in the centre and the staff are all warm and friendly and seem to care deeply about the people they look after. My mother needed quite high-level nursing assistance and I believe that was provided effectively and with compassion. The staff also asked about me and how I was managing and I really appreciated that. The facilities are good and the rooms in the nursing unit are well maintained and each has a door with direct access to the outside, which is a huge benefit to someone who is bed-bound. I believe that animals have a huge positive influence on the mental health of people. Although my Mother could not benefit personally from the small farm associated with the centre I saw it as a tremendous asset.

So glad that we found Allonsfield House when Dad's needs finally became too much for Mum and helpers at home. We looked at other homes but Allonsfield was the perfect place for my lovely dad. We found the staff to be kind, friendly, efficient, and welcoming, taking a real interest in those they care for. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad was happy and relaxed here, able to walk all day if he wanted. He enjoyed the human company and the visits from baby goats etc brought in from the home's little farm for residents to pet and bottle feed! The home itself is full of light, bright, clean, and airy rooms all with views of and access to the central garden, a lovely safe sunny space. We often met Dad in the conservatory, sitting in bright, modern comfortable chairs - it felt very homely and relaxing as does the whole place. The carpeted corridors keep sound muted. All the residents and staff that I met seemed happy to be there. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness to Dad and our family.

My mother moved into Allonsfield to have respite care but is now a permanent resident. I am very impressed with the standard of care she has received. The staff are kind and patient and they have been quick to follow up with any medical concerns and referrals. I chose this home because of the confidence I felt in the manager, it really is a well-run nursing home. My mum's room is excellent, the food is lovely and the staff cater for individual needs. Well done!

Safe, secure, and friendly environment. Staff were attentive and professional. A flexible attitude to residents' needs. Clear and reasonable attitude to visitors.

My mum entered Allonsfield care home when her Alzheimer's became difficult to manage in her own home. Once she had settled in, she flourished with all the love, care, support and dignity that she received from all the wonderful staff. She was treated like a member of their own families and I always felt welcome to visit whenever I wished (prior to Covid-19) and the latter months. She passed away peacefully in her own bed in the home she loved.

My mother has been living at Allonsfield for 16 months now and I cannot praise the management and all the staff enough. The care home is always clean and has a fresh smell about it. Mum has Alzheimer's along with very poor eyesight and hearing. The care she receives is outstanding. The staff are considerate, very caring and happy. The menu choices and food are very good. Mum enjoys the activities provided including dancing and singing. She is very well cared for and I thank all members of staff.

My aunt is very happy at Allonsfield. She loves her surroundings, the staff and is happy with all her care.

The home is pleasantly situated in rural surroundings. We were immediately impressed with the friendliness and dedication of the staff and their willingness to take the time to answer our queries.

Wheelchair-bound and uncommunicative. Requires continual attention for feeding and washing - very well looked after.

I am impressed with the staff and accommodation. Food is excellent, varied and well cooked!

The care home staff are very friendly and approachable. The home is very clean and my mother is well cared for. There are activities available such as music, singing and crafting. I am very happy with the care my mum is receiving and I would recommend Allonsfield House to any friends or family looking for a care home.

Although my mother has found it difficult to come to the knowledge that she will not be able to return to her previous independent life, I know that she could not wish for more comfortable surroundings, better support from her loving carers, the home's management and the whole backroom team - or even more tasty meals! I send my heartiest thanks to everyone at Allonsfield.

I cannot thank all at Allonsfield House enough for the truly wonderful care they gave my mum in the last few months of her life. They were all so kind, caring and considerate to mum and my sister and I. We couldn't have hoped for a better experience and I can't recommend Allonsfield highly enough.

Father-in-law has complex dementia and could not receive better treatment and care anywhere. He seems very happy and everything he needs is catered for. Mother-in-law is in the residential side and is getting all the care she deserves and space for as much rest as she needs. She was being looked after very well.

Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating to our needs considering the current pandemic.

My mother has lived at Allonsfield for nearly 2 years, always looks well presented. She always appears happy. Staff are always friendly and approachable and always keep me updated with any concerns.

Such pleasant staff, nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Based on the two-plus years I have visited and cared for my Mum, alongside the Allonsfield staff, my observation is that the frequently changing management continues to be a problem, which is accurately reflected in the CQC report. This is a great shame because with good management the skills of the carers would be much better maximised. The environment has improved a lot over the years and is pleasant.
