Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible. There are no additional fees
for respite stays.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

My mother moved in in early November 2023 and has not looked back. She is very happy, well cared for and well-fed. The atmosphere in Davers Court is lively and friendly so that she genuinely feels at home and is stimulated. The staff in all departments from the front desk to the kitchen to the maintenance
and cleaning are excellent and the facilities are ideal.
Mum moved here from another home and the difference is astounding. It can be felt even as you approach the front door.

My husband stayed at Davers Court for a month in order to convalesce after being in hospital for 3 weeks before. He was in a very poorly state on transfer. Malnourished, frail and exhausted, needing a great deal of input from all concerned. It was a real team effort to get him eating again, more comfortable,
mobilising and taking an interest in getting better again. He was on the Riverside Suite and all the staff were unfailingly gentle and kind to him, as they were to me. It was a very stressful time and there was no way at the time that I could have cared for him at home. The district nurse team came in to see him twice a day as well and I was able to arrange for a physiotherapist to visit privately.
Always greeted with a hello and friendly smile by all members of staff and generally felt welcomed. He mostly stayed in his room due to his condition but was very pleased to be able to get his hair cut whilst there prior to leaving.

My mum stayed for two weeks of unplanned convalescence care in Davers Court at the end of November. I didn't even have time to visit the home myself before taking Mum there, so was very apprehensive and quite stressed. The manager and customer relations manager could not have been more reassuring and
empathetic, and on Mum's arrival, had arranged for a platter of fruit and a welcome card in her room, which was a lovely gesture.
The home has amazing facilities (coffee bar, cinema/therapy room, hairdresser) and feels very homely. The staff were all, without exception, caring and friendly and treated Mum and other residents with kindness and dignity. The front desk staff were also very helpful and caring, and it was nice to see that everyone interacted well with residents, even those who required more time than others.
I would not hesitate to use Davers Court again if the need arose.

My Mum spent three weeks of respite care at Davers Court. It had a lovely, homely atmosphere where all staff were welcoming and engaging. They were committed to caring for Mum so she felt safe and happy during her stay. All her needs were met with patience and compassion. When visiting I was met with
offers of a drink and if I had a query a member of staff dealt with it immediately. Mum is happy to return to Davers Court for more respite in the future as she called it her 'luxury holiday'.

The whole process of moving my father-in-law into the care home has been great, with nothing too much trouble. The home is very welcoming, with a café and lovely gardens and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very caring and treat the residents with kindness and respect. There are a variety
of activities provided each week, with a weekly calendar showing what's on offer each day for the residents to join in. The meals provided are lovely. There is a dining area for meals, but the residents can eat in their own rooms if they prefer. Communication has been great and it is very easy to get through to speak to staff. They keep us informed by phone of any issues that we need to be aware of. There is a new app which lets us know what activities my father-in-law has joined in with and how he responded, which is lovely as he doesn't usually remember doing anything. We are very pleased with our choice of care home for my father-in-law.

I stayed in Davers Court for two weeks after my hip replacement operation. I had a very pleasant room overlooking the car park. On my arrival I was made very welcome. I had several visitors and they were always made welcome too. The coffee café and the gardens were always pleasant places to be. The
carers treated you with dignity. This is not always easy for the patient to contend with but it helps when you just accept it. I thought that the activities provided were fantastic and imaginative, with something for everyone to choose from. The staff were always willing to transport you by wheelchair or by walking with you to these activities. The cleaners, catering staff and those serving meals were cheerful which always helps and helps to pleasantly pass the time. I enjoyed my stay at Davers Court and was well looked after.

I have a relative who, following a stroke, required respite care which I could not provide. Davers Court has been, genuinely, the answer for which I was searching. It is close to the centre of Bury St Edmunds and it is really ideal in terms of size, that is, in relation to the number of residents. While
waiting for my relative to join me (I take her into town for lunch twice a week), I watched splendid work being carried out with small groups of residents who were clearly enjoying every moment. Above all, however, I was deeply impressed by the staff - always a smile and kindness, patience and awareness of the needs of their residents. They are helpful with suggestions regarding physical requirements and ready to talk to me too when I have had questions. It's a very difficult time for carers as well as the resident. The staff recognise that. My relative has had several respite stays at Davers and I am in the process of making this permanent.

I chose Davers Court for two weeks of respite for my husband as I was impressed with what I saw during our visit, and my husband thought he would be happy there. We were not disappointed, and all the staff were efficient, friendly and caring. We will be choosing Davers Court again.

I always find the staff very friendly and helpful. The staff seem to be happy in their work and nothing is too much trouble for them.
My mother was 90 recently and the home put up decorations and balloons and made a cake for her.

From the initial communication via email and the meeting with the helpful manager, we had confidence in Davers to look after our father. The only remark would be the cleanliness of the suite, toilets and bathroom. Appreciating staff workload, this could be an area of improvement. The suite/floor manager
was attentive, intuitive and went the extra mile. Cleanliness - they have overall looked great, but it was a shame Dad didn't shower or wash his hair. It was really tired and his loo surround and the public loo surround. Overall, a supportive experience for our darling dad. Thank you.

My mum moved into Davers Court in February this year and it was a seamless process. I was so worried as Mum didn’t want to move from home but my concerns were completely unfounded. She has settled in so well. All the staff are amazing, so caring, professional and kind. I have complete peace of mind

Mum recently spent three weeks in the Meadows Suite at Davers Court for respite care. She really enjoyed her holiday, was very well looked after and loved the company and making new friends. Davers Court is extremely well run, with professional and caring staff to whom nothing is too much trouble.
The whole process from my initial phone call to collecting Mum to return her home was made easy by everyone I dealt with and I had no worries at all about leaving Mum there whilst I was away. Everything was done to make Mum feel at home even though she was only there for a short time, the thoughtful card with a welcome message, an Easter egg and a pretty potted rose plant in her room when she arrived was a lovely touch. I would definitely use Davers Court again for respite or more permanent care if required in the future.

All the staff and carers have been very polite, helpful and professional at all times and help Mum to make the most of each day. They have been particularly efficient at special arrangements such as accompanying her to hospital visits. We were delighted when she was presented with a homemade cake on
her birthday!

Davers Court is a top-notch care home, very professionally run, with all the management and staff very efficient, polite and caring. The facilities are excellent, as you would at this price level. I'm particularly impressed by the proactive approach that staff take to deal with situations. A great deal
of trouble was taken to make sure that my mother-in-law could personalise her room with extra furniture and belongings. We particularly appreciate the regular newsletters sent out to relatives.

The staff are all amazing, my dad enjoys all the food and takes part in the activities that he is able to do. I wouldn’t want him to be anywhere else, you get regular updates and are always contacted about anything big or small.

As a family, we've been very impressed with Davers Court from the start. We find all the staff and carers extremely helpful and friendly. The home has a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere and there are all sorts of little touches around the home which give Davers Court its unique character. Our mum has
now settled very well, despite it being a massive adjustment from living in her own home. She is very happy with her room and the view she has from her window. She really enjoys the food and especially likes the range of tasty homemade soups for the evening meal. Whenever I visit, the carers on duty are always friendly and cheerful. They're all very easy to communicate with and we are also always kept informed by phone of any issues we need to know about. It's a great comfort to know that mum is being so well looked after by staff who show genuine kindness and understanding towards her. Thank you for everything you do.

I came here for a week's respite to help me recover from a major operation. It has been wonderful. The staff are amazing - nothing is too much trouble. Davers Court is a very happy place, and it has helped me in my recovery to be here. I would not hesitate to come here again if I needed help or friendship.

I would like to thank the manager of Davers Court for all her help when my mum was taken into hospital. An ambulance was not available, neither was an accessible taxi so the manager took us in her car and then travelled from home to pick me up in the evening from hospital when Mum was allowed home.
This was amazing care provided for both of us over the above what could be expected. We will always be grateful.

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Abhilash Gopi

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

I am passionate about providing meaningful care to older people and ensuring that we make a positive impact on residents’ lives.


I have been a home manager for eight years and have a BSc Hons. in nursing, as well as a level five in health and social care. I chose to join Care UK because of its values and ethos.


In my role, you need to be patient, have good listening and communication skills, and be understanding. Being calm in any situation helps too.


I think my favourite part of the day is the morning. It’s a time when we can decide what to prioritise and how to approach the day.


A lot of moments stand out for me as highlights. I helped achieve an ‘outstanding’ rating for another Care UK home in 2021. I’m also proud to be able to support colleagues and share the knowledge I’ve learned over the years. It’s all about improving care and standards for the better so residents can benefit.


Outside of work, I captain a local cricket team. I also enjoy reading and spending time with my family. My wife is also a nurse, and we have three children so life is wonderful and busy.
