Davers Court

My Mum has Alzheimer's and with much consideration about the options available she had to move to Davers Court. It was hard in the first week as her Alzheimers was worse to start with but with care from the staff who have so much patience, she is gradually more settled and less confused. She still has Alzheimer's but now has some much brighter days in between the confused ones. Nothing is too much trouble and I have also felt care for myself and assurance that this was the right thing for Mum. Very impressed with how things are going and huge thanks.

Last year we realised our mum in West Sussex could no longer live independently. I live in West London and we made the decision for her to come up to Bury St Edmunds as my sister is there and it's just a 2-hour journey for me to come and stay with her. Initially Mum was in another care home, however, after a few months we were not happy despite raising concerns. A visiting District Nurse recommended Davers Court to us, my sister and I visited and immediately felt the homely atmosphere and saw carers genuinely caring.

Mum moved to Davers Court in late August, obviously a bit unsettling for her but everyone has made her so welcome and we can see she's joining in more activities already. She's enjoying the meals, and she loves the rickshaw rides, I accompanied her last weekend and as we came back into the car park mum said 'ah, we're back home' I was so happy! I'd definitely recommend Davers Court should someone need residential care.

I am confident my mum is receiving a very high level of care from staff.

I can't thank the Davers Court Crew enough for all their support and care. They really do go above and beyond for residents and relatives - it really does feel like a huge extended family. It is so much more than a care setting. I am so pleased that my family member is safe, nurtured and treated like a valued individual.

Obviously, this is still very early days as she has only been in the facility a couple of weeks but I am sure the care she will receive will continue to be fantastic.

Mum has been at Davers Court for about a month now. From the beginning, it has offered a very relaxed and warm welcome. It is a place where Mum can let go of life’s stresses and worries. She can even spend quality time with her dog which has been a huge comfort. She enjoys the meals, the daily activities, entertainment and trips and has quickly felt a part of the community. She is well looked after and the staff are friendly and helpful. Many of them have taken the time to chat with her so they get to know each other. In the communal lounges and at social activities, new friendships with some of the other residents are starting to grow. Staff have encouraged her to use her skills and abilities. Her bedroom is kept clean and is freshly decorated. She has a telephone in her bedroom to keep in contact with friends and family. Transfer of medical records and other requests have been efficiently dealt with. Would like to access the hairdresser on other days but overall - well done Davers Court!

I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking to provide the best possible care for their loved ones.

I would definitely recommend this place for anyone thinking of placing a relative or loved one here. A clean and tidy environment and always greeted with a welcoming smile.

My mother was in residential care in the Riverside Suite for nearly 12 months. The whole care team did an excellent job and you can see they all really did care. The man on the activities team was a source of energy and entertainment organising a fantastically diverse programme that kept Mum engaged. Thank you.

Mum moved here from another home and the difference is astounding. It can be felt even as you approach the front door.

My Mum spent three weeks of respite care at Davers Court. It had a lovely, homely atmosphere where all staff were welcoming and engaging. They were committed to caring for Mum so she felt safe and happy during her stay. All her needs were met with patience and compassion. When visiting I was met with offers of a drink and if I had a query a member of staff dealt with it immediately. Mum is happy to return to Davers Court for more respite in the future as she called it her 'luxury holiday'.

The whole process of moving my father-in-law into the care home has been great, with nothing too much trouble. The home is very welcoming, with a café and lovely gardens and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very caring and treat the residents with kindness and respect. There are a variety of activities provided each week, with a weekly calendar showing what's on offer each day for the residents to join in. The meals provided are lovely. There is a dining area for meals, but the residents can eat in their own rooms if they prefer. Communication has been great and it is very easy to get through to speak to staff. They keep us informed by phone of any issues that we need to be aware of. There is a new app which lets us know what activities my father-in-law has joined in with and how he responded, which is lovely as he doesn't usually remember doing anything. We are very pleased with our choice of care home for my father-in-law.

I stayed in Davers Court for two weeks after my hip replacement operation. I had a very pleasant room overlooking the car park. On my arrival I was made very welcome. I had several visitors and they were always made welcome too. The coffee café and the gardens were always pleasant places to be. The carers treated you with dignity. This is not always easy for the patient to contend with but it helps when you just accept it. I thought that the activities provided were fantastic and imaginative, with something for everyone to choose from. The staff were always willing to transport you by wheelchair or by walking with you to these activities. The cleaners, catering staff and those serving meals were cheerful which always helps and helps to pleasantly pass the time. I enjoyed my stay at Davers Court and was well looked after.

I chose Davers Court for two weeks of respite for my husband as I was impressed with what I saw during our visit, and my husband thought he would be happy there. We were not disappointed, and all the staff were efficient, friendly and caring. We will be choosing Davers Court again.

My mother was 90 recently and the home put up decorations and balloons and made a cake for her.

From the initial communication via email and the meeting with the helpful manager, we had confidence in Davers to look after our father. The only remark would be the cleanliness of the suite, toilets and bathroom. Appreciating staff workload, this could be an area of improvement. The suite/floor manager was attentive, intuitive and went the extra mile. Cleanliness - they have overall looked great, but it was a shame Dad didn't shower or wash his hair. It was really tired and his loo surround and the public loo surround. Overall, a supportive experience for our darling dad. Thank you.
