Good, clean establishment, friendly staff and treated my dad with dignity and care. Very happy with the care and the way he was looked after, had gone above and beyond to make him comfortable during his time at Highfields.

Recently I had a short stay at Highfield residential care home after a fall. My stay was good. Staff are excellent. Nothing was too much trouble.

Following my father's death at Highfield, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all of the staff who cared for him over his 13-year stay. He loved being at Highfield and the staff were amazing right up to (and after) his passing. Thank you.

My father was a resident in Highfields for only 2 months but the care he received was brilliant. He always looked clean and cared for. They made his last Christmas very enjoyable. The care he received in his last few days was second to none and they treated him with such dignity. The staff also looked after us (the family) making sure we were kept up to date with dads condition and supplying numerous hot drinks on the long nights we were there. Well done and thank you.

The level of care and dedication that my dad received whilst in Highfield was excellent. Very kind carers all of whom cared for my dad with dignity and thought.

After my dad died the carers were there to comfort us and support us. I would certainly recommend this care home to everybody. Thank you for the love and care that was shown to my dad.

Overall Experience

We were impressed from first coming through the front door, a very welcoming bright and fresh entrance hall, tables in the dining room were very well laid out like a good class restaurant. We walked by the kitchen which also looked immaculate.

Our friend's room was clean and pleasant with an outlook on to the patio and garden. Very light and airy. The staff we met were very friendly and cheerful. Our friend's meal arrived just as we were about to leave. It smelt and looked delicious.

We were pleasantly surprised by the overall good quality of this care home.

Overall Experience

As a frequent visitor (usually 3-4 times weekly) to Highfield, I have seen consistently excellent standards of warmth and empathy - i.e. real caring. Since my mother entered the home in May 2015, the staff have gone out of their way to engage with her, listen to her, and address her needs and wants. Even late at night, on the occasion I returned my mother to Highfield from hospital, we were welcomed with the sort of warmth and cheerfulness you would expect from a family. There appears to be a slow rate of staff turnover. This is very important for my mother, who is rather shy with new people. It also suggests good levels of job satisfaction. Many of the core qualities of Highfield will not lead to boxes being ticked during CQC inspections. But to my mind, they are far more important than the processes and protocols that determine the CQC rating. I would certainly recommend Highfield to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.
