St Josephs, in Sudbury, is a caring home supporting up to 60 older people to live a comfortable lifestyle, as well as offering care for those living with dementia. It is located in an idyllic croft setting in the village of Sudbury.

The home continues to welcome new residents for a range of residential care services, including convalescence care, respite care, trial stays and long term care for those who can no longer look after themselves.

St Joseph's care team gets to know customers and works with them to organise wellness activities that match individual and group interests, both in the care home as well as in the local community. Each customer’s individual needs are regularly assessed to ensure their care plans meet their lifestyle requirements.

Meals are cooked fresh, using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients where possible, by highly trained chefs and kitchen staff.

My father lived at St Joseph's from March 2017 until he passed away on 1st April 2018 aged 98. He was very independent and staff treated him with great courtesy and respect. There is a real family atmosphere where all the staff work as a team under the manager's guidance. I cannot praise highly enough
the kind, caring and cheerful staff. My father had many visitors and everyone commented on the friendly and courteous staff, whatever their role.
Most of all, we will never ever forget how lovingly he was cared for during the last few months of his life when his health was failing and he knew he would not get better. They respected his wishes when he'd had enough and did all they could to make his final days as comfortable as possible. They gave our family great support and kindness during this very sad time.
To my Dad, St Josephs quickly became home, not a Home and is an example of how residential care should be.

I have been delighted with the standard of care at St. Joseph's, The staff are very friendly and kind, not just with the residents but also with each other. I couldn't wish for a better place for my mother to spend her last days.

The staff at St Joseph's Sudbury were lovely and very caring to my cousin. When my cousin died, the staff kept him very clean and comfortable for the three days that he was bedridden.
And after death, they placed a little bunch of flowers on his chest.
My cousin looked very peaceful and clean.
The
staff were also very sweet to us, comforting and caring. My cousin was treated with dignity at all times, he suffered from Alzheimer's.

My mother was a resident for over four and a half years at St Joseph's during which time she lived in the main house on the dementia unit. She was very well treasured by the staff at all times who dealt with her anxieties and distress with care and compassion. Thanks to the kindness of the staff, my
sister and I were able to stay with her at the home whilst she slowly slipped away we will always remember their kindness.

My dad was cared for at St Joseph's for the past 2 years. Dad went into end of life care during January/February of this year.
During dad's stay at the home, he was always treated with respect and dignity and loved the staff who cared for him.
During the last two weeks of his time at the home, dad,
and the family were excellently looked after with every thought to both his and the family needs.
The professional, but caring approach could not be faulted and we are so glad that dad had St Joseph's to Care for him. A person-centred approach seeing dad as an individual.
Little things like his favourite duvet cover, his music played quietly in the back ground, personal end of life care making dad as comfortable as possible. Communicating with family on a daily basis.
The manager and some seniors with us when dad passed.


Thank you so much to the Manager and her team for all the love, care and support they gave to dad.........we all miss his smile.

I have been a resident at St. Josephs since 2008 - a long time. I came before I needed the care I do now, but I was recently widowed, not very well and needed to think of the future and my family. At that time, one was invited to make one's home here, to continue an outside life as far as possible within
the safety and facilities offered. It has been a wonderful experience for me as that same attitude and atmosphere continues. Management is very good. Staff are excellent in their work; they are not intrusive, are friendly and interested in our lives but equally, do not expect intrusion in theirs. The warm, friendly, safe feeling shows great respect for each other. I have recently been unwell with cardiac problems but welcomed back from the hospital and given great care so after a little despair, I now look forward to continuing my life.

My mother has been a resident at St Joseph's for two and a half years. The atmosphere when you go in it's welcoming and friendly for visitor and relatives alike. The staff are attentive, caring, always helpful and engage well with the residents. I am always informed in any changes in my mothers medication
etc. St Joseph's has enabled me to have peace of mind, knowing that my mother is so well looked after.

St Joseph's cared for my late mother for over 2 years, when she developed vascular dementia at the age of 79 years. St Joseph's were absolutely wonderful in the way they cared for my mother. At all times they were compassionate and kind and couldn't do enough for my mother. The standard of food was
excellent in my mother's final days, all the staff were wonderful and couldn't fault them. The manager runs a tight and happy ship and I can honestly say the standard of care was second to none. A first rate care home and deserves to be rewarded for it's outstanding performance.

St Joseph's and its excellent staff played an integral part with our family to ensure my mum was as happy and contented as possible. There support to us as a family at the end of her life was exceptional a debt that we will never be able to repay.

My father has been a resident here for the last 18 months, my dad has been happy, safe, well fed and very contented whilst living here. He has had many problems but the staff have kept him happy, warm and extremely well cared for. I would not have found a better place for dad to be after the loss of
my mum. I know my dad is treated with kindness and great respect and he enjoys living here very much. St Joseph's Home has taken so much stress off my shoulders too and I will always been thankful to all the wonderful staff there for their kindness and support.

This care home is excellent. The staff treat residents as their own, nothing is too much trouble for them. My wife suffers from LBD and has lived here for over two years and as her disease has progressed she has received ever increasing care. The food and activities are fantastic. I have no hesitation
in recommending St Josephs to anyone.

Mu aunt chose St Joseph's Home when she could no longer look after herself and was there for approx. 8 months. She settled really well loved the staff and they were able to get her to do things I couldn't. The care and attention she received was second to none. We often describe St Joseph's Home as
more like a good class country hotel than a care home. All staff are to be congratulated in making St Joseph's Home a great place to live. Aunty died quite suddenly and everything was dealt with in a very compassionate manner. Thank you St Joseph's Home.

The level of care is generally good. Staff very good, but feel there is a general lack in detail, and the overall standard needs to be biased, for example; furniture positioned better, cut flowers on tables, some rooms looking a little tired.
Whilst the place should always be homely, but could be more
like a hotel, to reflect the amount of money we pay each month, for my mothers care. I do not feel we get value for our money.

On visiting St Joseph's I was always greeted with respect and kindness, my husband who suffered with dementia was lovingly cared for. The atmosphere of the home was welcoming - lively and cheerful at all times.
The sadness at the home of my husband's death was eased by the comforting and thoughtful,
gentleness of the staff concerned. In my opinion the work load of staff in the Gainsborough Unit is excessive at times and would have been helped having more staff available to share the load.

Mum went to St Josephs from a 2 month stay at hospital, she had advanced vascular dementia, and was unable to walk unaided from the off, she was given a huge amount of care and support, was taken to the day room daily and encouraged to interact with the excellent staff.
Her care was beyond reproach,
given much time by carers who were always cheerful. In her last week, she stayed in her room where she slipped away peacefully; the gathered family were touched by the compassion shown.
